A guide to betting on NASCAR

Photo by Ted Seminara for SpeedwayMedia.com.

NASCAR is arguably one of the most popular sports to take place in the United States of America and is especially popular with those that live in the southern states of the nation. Indeed, there are races that take place on almost every single weekend of the year, thus making it a sport that hardly stops.

Due to the fact that it hardly stops, there are a number of bettors that look forward to getting involved with NASCAR and motorsport betting on a weekly basis, although not all states will allow for them to do so.

Betting in the United States still remains a little difficult for some, however certain states have started to provide gamblers with the opportunity to place bets on the action. States such as New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, West Virginia, Rhode Island, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, Colorado, and Nevada have all allowed for sports betting to take place, whilst many others have put legislation into place.

Nonetheless, for those that wish to bet on the NASCAR action – and can legally do so – will find that it is incredibly easy to do.

What bets can be placed?

There are three different types of bets that gamblers can place on NASCAR action, which makes it hugely appealing for many.

The first of the bets available is the Future Bets. This is where players choose who they believe will win the NASCAR Cup before the season – or at the early stages – gets underway. Naturally, these bets are generally placed as a long-term wager that can provide better value than any of the other wagers that are available.

Outright Winner and Place Betting are the next type of bet available to punters wishing to get in on the action. These are perhaps some of the most popular bets to be made as they can be done each and every week as they are designed to be made on the upcoming race meet. Basically, gamblers will be betting on who will win the race or by placing a wager on the position that they think they will finish the race in.

The last of the three main bets available is the Head-to-Head market. This will see bettors place wagers on two matched up drivers and picking the one they feel will come out on top in the race.

What should bettors be looking out for?

Naturally, reading odds can be sometimes rather difficult for those that do not quite understand what they are trying to show.

In essence, any race driver with a plus sign next to their name will mean they are generally favored in the betting, which is in complete contrast to other American sports betting markets such as in the NFL and NBA, in which the favorite is provided with a minus sign.

Therefore, if a race driver has odds of +120, then that will be considered the profit that is made on top of the bet placed. For example, a $100 bet placed on odds of +120 that wins will see the bettor win a total of $220.

The main reason as to why NASCAR’s odds are different from other American sports is because of the unknowns that can happen within the race, such as accidents or mechanical failures.

Remember these things when you are purchasing a tire for your vehicle

Tires form an integral part of any vehicle. The overall safety of a person is dependent on the quality of the tires being used. If a driver has to enjoy the activity of driving without any hassles, the tires have to be intact. There are many reasons for a person to upgrade or change the tires of their vehicle. During both these times, it is crucial to pay a lot of attention to the tire installation at Walmart in order to avoid any sort of mistakes. While some people are passionate about enhancing the looks of their vehicles, a few may want to keep their cars updated using the most advanced tires with the latest technology. In either case, it becomes necessary to follow the right procedures on the tire installation, as mentioned on the thepricer.org website. Everything that one has to know about the tires is mentioned in detail on this website that can come in handy during the change or reinstallation of the tires.

Things to know while changing your tire

  1. Research

The first and foremost thing that you have to perform when you are planning to install a new set of tires on your vehicle is to research the brand and the vendor from where you’re purchasing them. It is also essential that you match the compatibility of the vehicle with the tires that your planning to install in order to avoid any sort of unfortunate events. The details about reliable brands that have been assisting every customer in choosing the right tires can be found on thepricer.org.

  1. Understand the history of the brand

There are several brands that make different kinds of tires, but not all of them might be suitable for your vehicle. Although there are advanced tires available from a particular vendor or a brand, it is essential that you read the history, and understand each and every bit about the brand that is into tire manufacturing. You must always try and know the quality, the cost, and also the specifications of the tire even before you make an investment.

  1. Check for the cost

The next step is to analyze the cost of the tiles that you are purchasing. As already mentioned, there are many players in the market who are into tire manufacturing. With the robust advancement in the automobile industry, several newbies have ventured into the tire manufacturing business. With the cut-throat competition, the price also varies from one brand to the other. Only when you start doing a proper analysis of the cost and compare the prices would you be able to get the right set of tires for your vehicle.

  1. Find out the right mechanic

After you are done with the cost analysis, you can proceed to get the tires that are suitable for your vehicle. However, it is essential that you seek assistance from expert mechanics who can help you to install the tires without any hassles. Installation of tires requires different kinds of tools and equipment. As a vehicle owner, you may have a toolkit that is basic, and acquiring all the essential devices for a tire installation may turn out to be expensive as you may not need them at all times. Also, one may not be completely knowledgeable about fitting the tires. Hence, it is always recommended to hire an expert who can perform this job for you as they would possess complete knowledge of these things.

  1. Try to understand the qualification of the person

When you are planning to hire a mechanic for the installation of tires, it is also essential to find out the qualifications of the person even before you handover the job to them. Understand the relevant experience and also ask a few questions regarding the tire installation process. Once all these things are clarified, you can proceed to handover the task to them without any issues.

  1. Get the details about tire safety and maintenance

Once the installation is done by an expert, it is also important that you gather all the information and details regarding the maintenance of the tires. A few basic maintenance procedures can be followed at your end without any advanced tools or equipment. As a vehicle owner, it becomes your responsibility to maintain the vehicle at proper condition all the time. Only when you know all these things, it becomes easy for you to increase the lifespan of the tires.

These are some of the most important steps that each and every person that is looking forward to installing a tire on the vehicle must follow. By following these simple steps, you would be able to take care of your vehicle in a much better manner and also keep the health of your tires intact. With proper tires, you would be able to experience a safe drive at all times.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Dec. 9, 2020) –  A Two-time DAYTONA 500 Champion and seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, along with an Indy 500 winner and a Rolex 24 At DAYTONA and 24 Hour of Le Mans champion, took their seats in the Daytona International Speedway media center Wednesday morning, ready to address a robust lineup of international media in a virtual news conference during a break in IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship testing.

Jimmie Johnson, Simon Pagenaud and Mike Rockenfeller were full of smiles (behind masks, of course) and optimism as they answered questions about next month’s 59th Rolex 24 (Jan. 30-31), where they will team with yet another international star, two-time defending Rolex 24 winner Kamui Kobayashi, in the No. 48 Action Express Racing/Ally Cadillac DPi-V.R.

Johnson, who retired from full-time NASCAR Cup Series competition in November, will be making his eighth Rolex 24 start and first since 2011. He conceded Wednesday that part of his decision to step away from full-time racing was to take advantage of opportunities to compete in other disciplines. A chance just like this.

“It’s been a while,’’ Johnson said of getting behind the wheel of a sleek IMSA prototype. “The car has evolved I think two generations since my last race in the Rolex 24. And I think we’re 8-10 seconds faster with this DPi configuration than what I did in the GRAND-AM car. So (a) very fun car to drive, lots of downforce, lots of speed. The Action Express guys have the car running really nice.

“We had a great day (testing) yesterday and super quick, so it’s just a really neat opportunity for me to still have an association with Ally. Mr. (Rick) Hendrick will be involved to a certain degree. To drive for Action, to have this opportunity to compete with Kamui, with Simon and with Mike, it’s just such a unique opportunity and one I’m really proud to be a part of,’’ added Johnson, whose best Rolex 24 finish is runner-up on two occasions (2005 and 2008), added the two-time DAYTONA 500 winner.

This will be Pagenaud’s seventh Rolex 24 start. The 2019 Indy 500 champion moves from the Team Penske Acura program the last three years to the Action Express Cadillac. Rockenfeller won the 2010 Rolex 24 driving for Action Express. Kobayashi – who was not at the test and unavailable for the news conference – drove to victory the past two years at the Rolex 24 in the Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac.

Sharing a race car with other champions in this legendary event is something the drivers agreed was essentially auto racing nirvana. The four come from varied backgrounds, but they share a common goal – to earn a new Rolex watch and stand atop the Daytona podium on Jan. 31 having bettered the world’s best.

“I’ve always looked up to Jimmie,’’ said Pagenaud, who is close friends with Johnson’s younger brother Jessie. “When I came to the U.S., he became the legend that he is and for me, I didn’t know much about oval racing – and Jimmie and I actually talked about this – he throughout the years made some special moves on ovals and inspired myself from his performance. He is the king.

“You look at what the king does and you try to emulate that yourself,” added Pagenaud, who was wearing the Action Express firesuit from when he drove for the team at Daytona in 2016. “It’s been very, very enjoyable to get to know him as a human being as well. We have very similar personalities and I think it’s going to be great chemistry on the team. And Rocky (Rockenfeller), we have friends in common so we spend time together often.

“I really think we will have a fantastic time. We have a similar desire and I think (we are) at very similar times in our career on the team. Everybody seems to be very much on the same page.’’

While this week’s test marked the first time Johnson and Rockenfeller met, the German sports car champion noted that the two share a positive experience. Johnson sent well wishes after Rockenfeller’s frightening 2011 accident at Le Mans.

“Obviously, Jimmie, I didn’t know in person, but he was one of the few drivers back in 2011 that took the time to write me an email in his busy schedule when I had this accident, even without knowing me, and that meant a lot to me back in the day, I have to say,’’ Rockenfeller said. “I never expected we would race together in a car, so that’s great.

“At the end of the day, I think the cool thing about our lineup is definitely there is no ego because everyone wants to do their best,’’ Rockenfeller added. “We all love racing and driving cars, but we love even more winning and that’s why we are here.”

Johnson said he was the first piece of the driver puzzle as the team was assembled. He was impressed by the deliberate way in which Action Express worked to fill out the lineup with other champions.

“I watched them take their time and be very methodical about how we’d all fit together,’’ Johnson said. “And of course, you have to meet all these criteria to be on the short list, but long story short, they were very intentional about us four together, and I think that’s why we feel the possibility is here and that we do truly have an opportunity to compete for the win.’’

The No. 48 Cadillac and the rest of the Rolex 24 At Daytona entries will return for the traditional Roar Before the Rolex 24 test session Jan. 22-24 that includes a new feature – the Motul Pole Award 100 qualifying race. Results from that race will set the starting grid for the Rolex 24 the following week.

What You Need to Know About Street Racing Laws in Australia

Since the 1970s, illegal street racing has been an infamous activity by hoons in Australia. But with the Traffic Amendment (Street Racing) Bill introduced in 1996, the government put out stringent rules in place to deter this activity because it puts the lives of race drivers, other drivers, observers, passerby, and the community at risk.

When you think of speed racing, you imagine two vehicles moving at excessive speeds. However, in the law, speed is not a defining factor – what is determined is if the drivers are ‘racing’ irrespective of their speeds. This post explores all you need to know about street racing laws in Australia.

Traffic Offence

To be charged with a street racing-related offense and have the office show up on your national character check police clearance record, you must be involved in the organization, promotion, or take part in any of the following:

  1. Car racing on the street
  2. Attempting to break a vehicle’s speed limit on a road
  3. Performing speed test on the road
  4. Engaging in competitive challenges to test the skill of a driver, or reliability and mechanical condition of the vehicle.

What happens if you get pulled over?

The Vehicle Sanction Scheme permits police officers to apply roadside sanctions to drivers engaging in street racing. The police may confiscate their number plates at the roadside, in contrast to the former practice of impounding the vehicle. The confiscation period is usually for a fixed three-month period.

First-time offenders usually receive lighter punishment, compared to repeat offenders. Driving a vehicle with no plates or fake plates will attract tougher penalties.

Court-Imposed Penalties

The penalties that can be imposed by the court range from fines to imprisonment, depending on the severity of the offence and whether the driver is a repeat offender or not.

The maximum court-imposed fine for a street racing or aggravated burnout offence is $3,300 for a first offence. Second or subsequent offences will attract a $3,300 fine and/or 9 months imprisonments. Those convicted of this offence will also face a 12-month automatic period of disqualification.

Exceeding the speed limit by 45km/hr attracts a court-imposed fine of $2,530 for drivers of light vehicles and $3,740 for heavy vehicle drivers. A six-month period of disqualification applies to those convicted of this offence. Further information about how these court imposed penalties may impact your personal police history record can be found by clicking on the frequently asked questions (FAQs) link for Australian police checks here: click here.

What happens when the driver is not the registered owner of the vehicle?

In this case, the registered operator may be issued a warning by Roads and Maritime the first time it happens. But if it happens again, the vehicle may be suspended for three months as punishment for the operator failing to supervise the use of his/her vehicle.

Forfeiture of Vehicles

Repeat offenders may have their vehicles forfeited to the Crown. If this happens, the vehicles may be sold to recover collection and storage costs. Alternatively, it can be released to Roads and Maritime for crash testing.

Conclusion

Street racing is illegal and greatly frowned at by the Australian government. People who are subject to charges of street racing can have their vehicles impounded or forfeited, just as they can be fined or serve time in prison.

NEW RULES CHANGES HELP KEEP SOUTH BOSTON SPEEDWAY’S LIMITED SPORTSMAN DIVISION AFFORDABLE AND A FAN FAVORITE

South Boston, Va….South Boston Speedway officials have taken steps over the past few seasons to cut costs for competitors in the Limited Sportsman Division. Revamped motor rules that include multiple engine options have been implemented, and nearly all of the various engines have visited Victory Lane at “America’s Hometown Track.”

The track’s one-tire rule which limits Limited Sportsman Division teams to being able to buy only one new tire per race has helped teams cut costs considerably. Offering good purses in conjunction with cost-cutting measures, South Boston Speedway officials have made racing in the division more affordable and have kept racing in the division competitive.

Track officials are making more moves for the upcoming 2021 season to help teams cut costs and further enhance the competition.

One of the rule changes eliminates bump stopping and coil binding. There will also be a new limit on the sway bar size with a new maximum of an inch and three-quarters. The last change sets a new four-inch minimum on the car’s ride height.

“The focus of these rule changes is to cut costs for the competitors,” noted South Boston Speedway Race Director and Head Tech Official Jeff Bomar.

“These changes will not only help make racing in the Limited Sportsman Division more affordable, they also simplify things in the long run.”

South Boston Speedway Competitor Liaison Bruce Anderson agreed.

“The Limited Sportsman Division is a competitive racing division that has a good mixture of veteran racers and up-and-coming talented young racers,” Anderson pointed out.

“What we are striving to do is make the Limited Sportsman Division a great grass-roots racing division that is cost effective for the competitors. Technology has really grown in the Late Model Stock Car Division, and we are making these rules changes in the Limited Sportsman Division to help hard-working racers, some of whom do not have the time, resources or funding to keep up.”

Along with cutting costs for the competitors, the rules changes have an additional benefit.

“These changes will bring our rules package closer to those of other tracks in the region,” Bomar said.

“It will be easier for drivers and teams that compete at other tracks in the region to compete here at South Boston Speedway if they wish to do that.”

Fans will not see any differences in the on-track competition.

“If anything, it should make the racing even better,” Anderson remarked.

Rules for South Boston Speedway’s Late Model Stock Car, Pure Stock and Hornets divisions will remain the same in 2021.

The 2021 season rules are available on the South Boston Speedway website at www.southbostonspeedway.com.

While temperatures have dropped with the arrival of fall and cooler weather is prevailing, there are still good days ahead for drivers and race teams wishing to schedule test sessions to begin preparations for the 2021 season.

South Boston Speedway is open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. for teams wishing to schedule testing sessions. The track is available for testing from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day. Teams wishing to schedule a test at South Boston Speedway should contact the speedway office at 434-572-4947 at least a day ahead to schedule a test session.

“America’s Hometown Track” will kick off its 2021 season on Saturday, March 20, 2021 with twin races for the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series Late Model Stock Cars, twin races for the track’s Limited Sportsman Division and races for the Pure Stock and Hornets Divisions.

Christmas is right around the corner, and people looking for a great gift for their favorite racing need look no further than South Boston Speedway.

Gift certificates from “America’s Hometown Track” may be purchased at the South Boston Speedway office Monday through Thursday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. or by calling the South Boston Speedway office at 1-434-572-4947 or toll free at 1-877-440-1540 during regular business hours.

6 Crucial Steps to Buy a Used Car Online Without Any Risk

Gone are the days when people had to spend days visiting car dealerships to choose a pre-owned car. Thanks to the internet, you can buy or lease a vehicle sitting safely at home without risking your health. Moreover, you do not have to go through the hassle of negotiating the price for the best possible deal.

In some cases, you do not even have to go to the dealership even once. The car gets delivered to your doorstep, and you can even try it for up to seven days. That means you do not have to understand whether the vehicle is worth the price or not in a matter of minutes. If you are not happy with the performance of the car, you can return it for a full refund.

In this article, we are going to talk about the steps of buying a car online so that you can get the best possible deal without any risks.

Set a Budget

The first step to buying a car is to set a budget for yourself. And that does not mean just knowing how much you can spend to purchase a vehicle. You should also consider the monthly payments that you would incur, along with the additional costs as well. If you are going for the finance option, you should also add the interest that you would incur to the price of the vehicle.

There are several additional expenses as well, such as insurance, registration, fuel economy, maintenance, and parking. If you have any pending amount due from your present car, you must add that as well to the expenses. Several websites have affordability calculators that can help you understand your budget and how much you can spend on a car every month and in total.

Get Pre-Approved for a Loan

If you are a smart consumer, you know that you cannot approach a car dealership without a pre-approved finance deal. It will help you to understand how much you can afford to spend on a car. It will also encourage the dealers to come up with a better deal to beat the one you have already in your hands.

You can get pre-approved loans online through banks, credit unions, or any other financing institution. You can also finance used cars 100% online these days through many car dealership websites. However, make sure you get a pre-approved loan deal first so that you can have the upper hand during the negotiation.

Find the Right Model

When you are buying a used car, you may not always get exactly what you are looking for. Therefore the best way to go about it is to check out the options that are available in your budget and then research those options online.

You can go through online car rankings and reviews to find the best option that matches your price range. You can also check out YouTube videos to find out what other users are saying about the car. It will help you understand how the vehicle will perform in the long run.

Look for the Best Deals

Nowadays, it can be easy to find a reputable car dealership that can let you look up their full catalogue online, filter by features or price, and quickly find vehicles that may match your budget without stepping outside.

Many dealers may offer lucrative deals on cars, so look online for the best offers. Since you do not have to visit the dealers physically, it won’t cost you extra to take your time and look for the best deals online. Some dealers can offer cars at a reduced price if they haven’t been able to sell the car for some time or if they need to get rid of their current stock for some reason.

You can save thousands of dollars with a cashback offer or a low-interest finance deal from dealerships such as East Coast Toyota. Since you do not need to leave the comfort and safety of your home, you can search the websites of multiple dealers to find such offers.

Since you do not have to travel to the car dealerships, you can look for options outside your local area as well. Many dealers offer free home delivery for vehicles, so look for those options when you are checking cars from outside your region.

Contact the Online Dealership

Once you have found a car that you like and fits your budget, you can contact the dealership. At dealerships like Rudy Luther Toyota, you can express your interest in buying the car and ask for an offer. Once you receive the offer, you can see if there is any room for negotiation. You can also tell them about any pre-approved offer that you currently have and see if they are ready to give you a better finance deal.

Also, look for the types of documents that they are willing to provide about the car. For example, do they have a system for checking the vehicle? If so, what are the parameters that they look for? Do they provide a copy of the vehicle’s history, such as accidents, repairs, or registration history? If they do not provide these details, you can ask for the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and look for the information yourself.

Finalize the Purchase

Once you have sorted out all the necessary checks and feel satisfied with the car dealership, you can finalize the purchase. You can take a test drive at the dealership if you want. However, we think getting a car delivered is a better option of the two. That way, you can test it over the trial period instead of getting just a few minutes to understand whether the vehicle is worth buying.

So if you did not feel comfortable going out and looking for used car dealerships, buying it online is a much better option for you. You can follow the steps mentioned above to ensure that you get the best possible deal without getting duped. Just like the traditional way, make sure you choose the right car dealership so that you can get a quality car at the best possible price.

Homestead-Miami Speedway to Host Limited Number of Fans During Race Weekend That Will Shift One Week later to February 27-28

DAYTONA Road Course Now Takes Over Second NASCAR Weekend of 2021 as a Homestead-Miami Doubleheader Now Highlights NASCAR’s Third Weekend of New Season

HOMESTEAD, Fla. (Dec. 8, 2020) – NASCAR and Homestead-Miami Speedway announced today that the 1.5-mile venue’s February NASCAR weekend will play host to a reduced number of fans, and will also be pushed back one week later than originally scheduled.

The decision to limit fans is due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and is in accordance with enhanced safety protocols and procedures to provide a safe environment for guests, NASCAR competitors, employees and the local community.

Now set for Feb. 27-28, the third weekend of the 2021 NASCAR season will be headlined by Homestead-Miami Speedway’s Dixie Vodka 400 NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday, Feb. 28 and a NASCAR Xfinity Series race set for Saturday, Feb. 27. The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race, originally scheduled for Friday, Feb. 19, has been realigned to the DAYTONA Road Course for the same date. The road course-oval hybrid at Daytona will also host the NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Cup Series on Feb. 20 and Feb. 21, respectively, which are realigned from Auto Club Speedway.

The schedule adjustments are due to challenges resulting from the ongoing pandemic.

“The South Florida community and Homestead-Miami Speedway are always excited to welcome fans here from across the country,” said track President Al Garcia. “We pride ourselves on personal hospitality and incredible racing at our beautiful, colorful, one-of-a-kind facility. We will work with our fans to find the best opportunity to enjoy NASCAR racing at its finest, here at Homestead-Miami Speedway.”

Current ticket holders will receive communication immediately from Homestead-Miami Speedway staff with options and the reseating process for the Feb. 27-28 weekend. Fans seeking tickets, as well as learning all safety protocol guidelines, can visit www.HomesteadMiamiSpeedway.com or call 866-409-RACE (7223). Adult tickets start at just $35 for the Dixie Vodka 400 and $10 for kids 12 and younger.

With the back-to-back weekends to start the season at the World Center of Racing in Daytona, followed by the Dixie Vodka 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, it marks the third time in history that the NASCAR Cup Series season has opened with the first three events in the state of Florida. It happened previously in 1952 and 1954, at Palm Beach Speedway, the DAYTONA Beach/Road Course and Speedway Park in Jacksonville. All three of the venues are no longer in existence.

As part of NASCAR’s return to racing earlier this year, Homestead-Miami Speedway led the way for the sport, serving as the first venue to have guests back to the track with local military personnel attending the Dixie Vodka 400 on June 14.
