● Junior Journey: AM Racing will embark on its junior year journey in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2025 with driver Harrison Burton for the entire 33-race tour, continuing with Saturday afternoon’s running of the Marine Corps 250 at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway.

● Future Focused: In September, AM Racing announced that NASCAR Cup Series winner Harrison Burton would join the family-owned operation to pilot the team’s No. 25 Ford Mustang, beginning with the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series season-opener from Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway on February 15, 2025.

Burton, a native of Huntersville, N.C., has been a staple in the NASCAR Cup Series for the past three seasons but will embrace a return to the NASCAR Xfinity Series and continue his relationship as a driver

of the Ford blue oval.

Burton, 24, arrives on the scene at AM Racing after a 108-race stint driving for the historic Wood Brothers Racing team.

● Dead On Focused: In January, AM Racing announced a new partnership for the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series season, which continues with the LiUNA NASCAR Xfinity Series Race. As part of the agreement, Dead On Tools will serve as the primary partner for the team’s rebranded No. 25 Ford Mustang.

● Harrison Burton NASCAR Xfinity Series Martinsville Speedway Stats: Saturday afternoon’s Marine Corps 250 will mark Burton’s fourth Xfinity Series start at the popular 0.526-mile speedway nestled in the Old Dominion.

Burton has delivered one win and two top-10 finishes in his previous three starts. In 2020, Burton scored his fourth NASCAR Xfinity Series win of his career after starting 10th in the 2020 edition of the Draft Top 250, driving for Joe Gibbs Racing.

Additionally, Burton carries an average Xfinity track finish of 9.3.

Also, the Huntersville, N.C. native has six NASCAR Cup Series starts at Martinsville, delivering a track-best of 11th after starting 10th in the 2022 edition of the Xfinity 500 driving for Wood Brothers Racing.

Burton, the second-generation racer, also earned three top-10 finishes in seven NASCAR CRAFTSMAN® Truck Series starts at Martinsville Speedway.

● Harrison Burton NASCAR Xfinity Series Career Stats: Entering Martinsville, Burton has 81 career NASCAR Xfinity Series starts to his credit with four wins, 26 top-five and 52 top-10 finishes, and a championship best result of eighth, twice in 2020 and 2021, respectively.

Burton’s four wins in the NASCAR Xfinity Series occurred during the 2020 season. Burton, the son of former NASCAR driver and current television analyst Jeff Burton, captured the checkered flag at Auto Club (Calif.) Speedway, Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway and Martinsville (Va.) Speedway, respectively.

In addition to the 81 Xfinity Series starts, he has achieved 109 NASCAR Cup Series starts, 40 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN® Truck Series starts and 52 career starts across the ARCA Menards Series platforms.

● Homestead-Miami Speedway | Hard Rock Bet 300 Race Recap: The solo trip to South Florida brought the Hard Rock 300 NASCAR Xfinity Series race to life on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

After a solid practice, Burton qualified his No. 25 Dex Imaging Ford Mustang in the 12th position.

From the drop of the green flag, Burton hovered inside the top 15 despite battling a tight race car.

Adjustments from crew chief Danny Efland allowed Burton to battle inside the top-10 throughout Stages 2 and 3. Still, Burton didn’t have the grip he needed on older tires to earn his fourth top-10 finish of the season and instead settled for a solid 11th-place finish at the checkered flag.

● Thanks For Your Support: With 18 percent of the 2025 Xfinity season complete, AM Racing and Harrison Burton would like to thank their associate marketing partners for their support: AIRBOX Air Purifier, DEX Imaging, Eagle Rentals, Flying Circle, Mechanix Wear, Morton Buildings, No Days Off Premium Water, Racing Radios, Volt Batteries and WIX Filters.

● From the Pit Box: Veteran race engineer and former NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Danny Efland is Harrison Burton’s crew chief.

He will be crew chief for his 11th career NASCAR Xfinity Series race, his first at Martinsville Speedway, on Saturday afternoon.

In his previous 10 Xfinity Series starts, he has collected one pole (Daytona International Speedway | February 2016), one top-five and four top-10 finishes.

Harrison Burton Quoteboard:

On Martinsville Speedway: “I am looking forward to Martinsville Speedway this weekend. It’s a track where I have won in the past, and I would like nothing more than to put our No. 25 Dead On Tools Ford Mustang in contention for a win on Saturday.”

On Keys to Success at Martinsville Speedway: “Track position is critical for success at Martinsville Speedway. As much as you want track position, you also want to make sure you have a good handling car so you can take advantage of being on new tires.”

On Homestead-Miami Speedway Finish: “It was a solid effort by our AM Racing team. I was a little bummed that we couldn’t put our No. 25 DEX Imaging Ford Mustang inside the top 10, but I feel like we learned a lot at Homestead, and I hope we can apply that to future races on the schedule.”

On 2025 Season Outlook: “I believe we can turn some heads in 2025. I believe our goals and expectations are not only attainable, but we can also execute them effectively and put this AM Racing team into the Playoffs in 2025.

“We have a lot of people and partners who believe in what we are doing this season, and I’d love nothing more than to deliver AM Racing their first career Xfinity Series win, join the Playoffs and hunt for a championship.

“I believe it’s going to be a fun year.”

QUOTABLE /

Kyle Larson, driver of the No. 5 Chevrolet, on his development at Martinsville Speedway: “When I started at Hendrick Motorsports, the car was probably a little bit better than I was at Martinsville (Speedway). But we’ve gotten better as a whole and I think it’s one of our best tracks now. We got a win there in 2023 and had solid runs and finishes there last year, so we’re looking forward to this weekend.”

Chase Elliott, driver of the No. 9 Chevrolet, on whether or not short track racing has improved lately in the Next Gen era: “It seems like it. I mean it seems like it’s better, for sure, and it seems like it’s largely in part to the tire, truthfully. The more I kind of look at it, the more I kind of just feel like, man, maybe this tire thing is really … we’re onto something there. But, if there’s one thing I’ve learned throughout my course of doing this is that just when you think you start to figure something out, you didn’t and you don’t, and whatever you think you know, you probably didn’t to begin with. So, I certainly don’t act like I have the answer. I do think the tire thing, seemingly from the gains that we’ve made, is pretty important considering it’s what touches the ground.”

William Byron, driver of the No. 24 Chevrolet, on returning to Martinsville Speedway: “I’m confident but also not extremely confident. We’ve had some good runs and we’ve also had some just OK runs. We have some work to do from Bowman Gray (Stadium) on our short-track package but I think we’ll still be in a good place. It’s really about having a good long run car and that’s what we will really focus on.”

Alex Bowman, driver of the No. 48 Chevrolet, on Martinsville Speedway: “I feel like Martinsville is a decent track for me. We have had some success there in the past and won there back in the fall of 2021. Qualifying is going to be really important this weekend just to start the race off with good track position since it’s just difficult to pass. Our team is coming off from a solid run in Miami and we just need to keep the momentum and consistency going.”

Greg Van Alst Returns to Martinsville Speedway for Fourth Xfinity Start of 2025

MARTINSVILLE, Va.: Set to make his fourth NASCAR Xfinity Series start of the season in Saturday’s Marine Corps 250 at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway, short-track veteran Greg Van Alst is eager to produce a season-best finish for his Joey Gase Motorsports with Scott Osteen team.

The Anderson, Ind. native is set to make his first Xfinity Series short track start of the season after competing at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, Phoenix (Ariz.) Raceway and Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway, respectively.

With a season-high 26th-place finish at the “World Center of Daytona” last month, Van Alst is eager to improve and deliver his Mooresville, N.C.-based team a top-20 finish.

Van Alst is confident that his short-track experience will be an asset this weekend at Martinsville.

“I’m really looking forward to Martinsville,” said Van Alst. “Short tracks are my bread and butter. It’s where I’ve had the most success throughout my career, and I feel like Martinsville presents a great opportunity for us to have our best finish of the season.”

The former ARCA Menards Series winner is also looking forward to capitalizing on his recent Martinsville Speedway finish, where last November, Van Alst earned a solid finish in his track debut at the famed paperclip oval.

“I learned a lot last year at Martinsville,” Van Alst said. “It’s a tough place — tight corners, heavy braking, and a lot of beating and banging — but I felt like we held our own and came away with a respectable result. Now that I’ve got some laps under my belt there, I feel like I have a better understanding of what to expect and how to approach the race.

“Martinsville is all about track position and survival. If we can keep the nose clean and be there at the end, I think we have a shot to put ourselves in a good spot when it counts.”

After three diverse starts on a superspeedway, intermediate track, and a one-mile oval, Van Alst believes the return to a short track will play to his strengths.

“We’ve shown speed at times this year, but things just haven’t fallen our way,” Van Alst added. “Martinsville is a place where you need to be patient, take care of your equipment, and be in a position to capitalize at the end. If we can stay out of trouble and have a clean race, I think a top-20 finish is within reach.”

Van Alst’s No. 35 team, led by veteran crew chief Mike Hillman Sr, has been steadily improving with each race. Despite suffering mechanical gremlins at Las Vegas, the veteran driver is optimistic that their hard work will translate to success on Saturday night.

“We’ve been building something good here at Joey Gase Motorsports with Scott Osteen,” Van Alst said. “The team has been working hard in the shop and at the track, and I’m grateful for the effort everyone has put in. Hopefully, we can reward that with a strong finish at Martinsville.”

For the second time this season, Van Alst’s No. 35 Chevrolet will carry continued support from Anderson, Ind.-based CB Fabricating.

Headquartered in Anderson, Ind., CB Fabricating offers a complete list of fabricating from design, laser cutting, CNC punching, forming, welding, powder coating, and assembly.

“Chris (Barkdull, CB Fabrication owner) is a huge short-track guy,” added Van Alst. “He knows what it takes to be successful at tracks like Martinsville, and having his support and knowledge behind us gives me a lot of confidence heading into the weekend.

“Chris has been a big part of helping us get this program off the ground, and it would mean a lot to have a strong run for him and everyone at CB Fabrication.”

For his 11th career Xfinity Series start, Van Alst will continue to be supported by long-time partner CB Fabricating while welcoming CBT (Car Boat Truck) Detail, Top Choice Fence and Vern’s Concrete as associate marketing partners for the first of two Xfinity trips to the Old Dominion this season.

Since 2023, Van Alst has had 10 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts, earning a career-best 26th-place finish twice, most recently at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway in February 2025.

Martinsville – NASCAR Weekend Schedule & Highlights

Photo by Patrick Sue-Chan for SpeedwayMedia.com.

NASCAR travels to Martinsville Speedway this weekend, featuring all three national series. The track was opened in September 1947 by Henry Clay Earles and was originally a dirt track. There have been 152 NASCAR Cup Series points-paying races at the 0.526-mile track.

Greg Biffle will serve as the Honorary Pace Car Driver for the Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway Sunday afternoon.

NASCAR Cup Series – Notes

The first NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway was a 200-lap (100-mile) race on September 25, 1949. It was won by NASCAR Hall of Famer Red Byron in an Oldsmobile owned by Raymond Parks.

The first Cup Series 500-lap (250-mile) race at Martinsville Speedway was in 1956. It was won by NASCAR Hall of Famer Buck Baker driving a 1956 Dodge owned by Carl Kiekhaefer.

NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty leads the NASCAR Cup Series in starts at Martinsville Speedway with 67. Denny Hamlin leads all active drivers with five wins at the 0.526-mile track – 2015, 2010 sweep, 2009, and 2008.

Xfinity Series – Dash 4 Cash

Justin Allgaier won the first race in the Xfinity Dash 4 Cash program at Homestead-Miami Speedway, collecting a $100,000 prize.

This weekend, Allgaier, Sam Mayer, Austin Hill and Sheldon Creed will compete for the $100,000 bonus at Martinsville.

Craftsman Truck Series – Triple Truck Challenge

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series takes center stage Friday night with the first race in the Triple Truck Challenge. All of the series drivers are eligible to win the Triple Truck Challenge winner bonus of $50.000.

But this is where it gets really interesting. If the same driver wins a second race, the bonus will be doubled and the driver takes home a $100,000 bonus. Win all three, and collect a $500,000 award. But no driver has ever won all three races since the program began in 2019.

Bitget becomes the first crypto firm to sponsor a driver on Porsche Cup Brazil 2025

Global, 27 March 2025 – Bitget, the leading global cryptocurrency exchange, is set to accelerate its presence in the motorsport world as the official sponsor of Driver Flávio Sampaio for the Porsche Cup Brasil 2025. The partnership, which kicks off with the season’s opening race in April 2025, symbolizes the convergence of the ongoing financial evolution and the adrenaline-fueled world of motorsport. The collaboration sets Bitget with Porsche’s legacy of precision and speed, creating a partnership that resonates with both crypto enthusiasts and motorsport fans. The sponsorship of driver Flávio Sampaio in the 2025 Porsche Carrera Cup Brazil season is supported by Bitget’s mission of bringing together sports and crypto.

The championship will kick off on March 22nd and 23rd at the Velocitta in Mogi Guaçu and continue through November, with the final stage scheduled for the 8th and 9th in Interlagos, São Paulo. With its support for Flávio, Bitget becomes the first crypto exchange to participate in the competition and will have its own car in Latin America’s largest Grand Touring category.

In the past, Bitget also had a successful partnership with Argentina’s star Lionel Messi from 2022 to 2024 and previously sponsored Juventus’ women’s football team in Italy. Currently, it also supports other major sports projects, such as Turkish athlete Buse Tosun Çavuşoğlu (world wrestling champion), Samet Gümüş (gold medalist in boxing), and İlkin Aydın (national volleyball team athlete).

Flávio Sampaio, commented on the partnership, saying, “I am very excited about this partnership with Bitget and hope to help spark interest among motorsport fans in the world of cryptocurrencies. The profile of sports fans often has similarities with that of crypto investors. I believe we can create an interesting connection between these two worlds.”

Flávio Sampaio began his career in karting at the age of 12 and competed in major state and national championships until 2001. In 2007, he was invited to participate in Stock Jr., the feeder category for Stock Car. In 2008, he joined ATW Racing in Stock Light. With a roaring 510CV engine, the car serves as a metaphor for Bitget’s high-performance trading engine, designed to deliver unmatched efficiency and results.

“This partnership isn’t just about speed on the track—it’s about accelerating innovation in the crypto space,” said Gracy Chen, CEO at Bitget. “We find that Flavio’s sportsmanship also dwells on the same principles that drive Bitget: strategy, adaptability, and high-performance execution. Aligning with a motorsport professional for a series known for its precision and competitiveness allows us to engage with an audience that values both technological advancement and calculated risk-taking.”

Introduction

Planning a trip to Cairns? This tropical paradise invites you to explore the Great Barrier Reef, a World Heritage site, old rainforests, and beautiful coastal drives, including visits to nearby national parks. Getting a budget-friendly car rental at Cairns Airport is important for traveling freely and seeing these amazing places at your own pace. If you’re thinking about renting a car in Cairns, a few smart tips can help you find a great deal and kick off your unforgettable journey with ease.

Top Secrets to Finding Affordable Car Rental Deals in Cairns

Get ready to leave high rental costs behind. We will share the best tricks for getting bargain car rentals in Cairns, including options like Ace Rental Cars near the city center. Get excited to see all the options you have, so you can enjoy a stress-free and affordable start to your fun trip.

1. Leverage Off-Season Discounts for Lower Rates

Timing is important when you want the best rates for your car hire at CNS. Think about visiting Cairns in the off-season, especially when the humidity is lower. This usually happens from March to May and again from September to November. During these months, car hire companies provide great discounts and deals to get more customers.

The off-season still has nice weather in Cairns. This makes it a great time to see the area without many people around. You will save money and find shorter lines and better choices for popular car models. Enjoy the calm of the off-season and the savings it gives you for your car rental.

Also, watch for special deals during holidays like Easter or school breaks. Rental companies often have time-limited offers. By planning smartly and using off-season discounts, you can get an affordable car rental and make the most of your travel budget.

2. Compare Local Providers Over International Chains

While big international car rental companies like Hertz might seem like the best choice, don’t overlook local providers. Cairns has many local car hire companies that often have competitive rates and flexible rental options.

These local businesses are usually smaller and have lower costs. This lets them offer savings to customers. They might also have more vehicles that are perfect for the Cairns area, like 4x4s for off-road adventures.

When you compare car hire options, ask for quotes from both local providers and international companies. You might be surprised by the big price differences and the valuable finds among local choices.

3. Utilize Online Booking Platforms for Exclusive Offers

The internet is your best friend for finding a great car rental in Cairns, QLD. Online booking sites have changed the car hire game. They allow you to compare prices, vehicle types, and rental terms from many providers in one place.

These sites often have special offers and discounts that you won’t see when booking directly with rental companies. Using price comparison tools can help you avoid checking a lot of websites. This way, you will always find the best rate.

Before you book a car, make sure you read the terms and conditions. Pay attention to insurance options, mileage limits, or extra fees, including any limitations on kilometers. By using online booking platforms and their exclusive deals, you will easily get a good, affordable car rental for your Cairns adventure.

4. Sign Up for Loyalty Programs for Extra Savings

Are you a frequent traveler or planning several trips to Cairns? If so, joining a car rental loyalty program might be a great way for you to save money and get special benefits. Many big car hire companies have loyalty programs that give returning customers discounts, quicker service, and other useful perks.

These programs are usually free to join. Over time, they can help you save a lot. As you earn points or reach certain levels, you may enjoy benefits like free upgrades, no young driver fees, or even free rental days.

It is a good idea to check out the loyalty programs from different car rental companies. This way, you can find the one that fits your travel style and needs best. By staying loyal, you can enjoy significant savings and enhance your rental experience in Cairns.

5. Opt for Longer Rental Periods to Slash Daily Costs

While a quick weekend trip can be fun, think about staying longer in Cairns if you can. Car rental companies usually give lower daily rates if you rent for more days.

This lower pricing happens because it costs less to manage longer rentals. The rental company saves money, and they share these savings with you. Instead of rushing through your trip, take your time. A longer rental period lets you go at your own pace.

You’ll save money on car hire and also enjoy exploring Cairns and the nearby areas more thoroughly. It’s great for both your budget and your love for travel!

Maximizing Your Car Rental Experience in Cairns

Maximizing Your Car Rental Experience in Cairns

Get ready to drive with confidence. You’ll explore all the amazing views and secret spots that Cairns has to offer.

1. Choose the Right Vehicle for Your Travel Needs

Cairns has many fun things to do. You can find busy city streets, wild rainforests, and beautiful coastal roads. That’s why picking the right type of car for your travel plans is very important. If you plan to stay in the city center and visit nearby beaches, a small car or sedan will be just fine.

If you want to explore places like the Atherton Tablelands or the Daintree Rainforest, a 4×4 or SUV, such as the Toyota, will be better. This type of vehicle will give you more space and power for rough roads. For larger families or groups, a minivan can make sure everyone has enough room and comfort. Think about your travel plans, how many people you have, and what kind of land you will drive on.

Feel free to contact the East Coast car rental company you choose for advice that fits your needs. Picking the perfect vehicle for your trip will help you enjoy the roads of Cairns and see all this amazing area has to offer.

2. Understand Rental Insurance to Avoid Unnecessary Expenses

Finding your way through rental insurance can feel confusing. But knowing your options is important. It helps avoid problems and extra costs later. Before you sign any paperwork, spend time reading the rental agreement. Get to know the types of insurance available.

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) or Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) usually covers damage to the rental car if you have an accident. On the other hand, Third Party Liability helps protect you from costs if you injure someone or damage their property. Check if your current insurance covers rental cars.

If it doesn’t, getting extra coverage like roadside assistance can be helpful. It gives you comfort if you face breakdowns or flat tires. By knowing your insurance choices and picking what fits your comfort level, you will be ready for any surprises along the way.

3. Inspect the Vehicle Thoroughly Before Acceptance

Before your Cairns adventure starts, check your rental car closely to make sure it is in good shape. This inspection is important to spot any damage and to protect yourself from issues later. Walk around the car and look carefully at both the inside and outside for any scratches, dents, or problems.

Write down any damage on the rental agreement or use the documents provided by the company, like a mobile app. If you can, take photos or videos of any damage. Pay special attention to places like tires, mirrors, and lights. By recording the car’s condition before you drive it, you will avoid problems and extra costs when you return the car.

This careful step protects you and shows the car hire company that you are a responsible renter.

4. Familiarize Yourself with Local Driving Regulations

Driving in a new place, like Cairns, comes with some important rules. Before you start driving, take a moment to learn about the local driving laws in Queensland, including the speed limits in km/h. In Australia, you need to “drive on the left,” which can be different for visitors from countries that drive on the right.

Speed limits are important here. They are enforced and shown in kilometers per hour. Seatbelts must be worn by all passengers. Also, do not use your mobile phone while driving. Be careful of special road conditions, like animal crossings, especially in the countryside.

By knowing the local driving rules, you will be safe while enjoying the beautiful sights in Cairns and nearby areas. Always choose safety first during your road trip adventure.

Navigating Cairns: Tips and Routes for Car Renters

Cairns is more than just a place to visit; it’s about the experience you have getting there. When you rent a car, you can explore the beautiful roads around Cairns. This makes your trip even more exciting.

We will help you find amazing drives and give you useful parking tips. This way, you can easily enjoy your time in this tropical paradise.

1. Best Scenic Drives Around Cairns for Breathtaking Views

Get ready to be amazed by the beautiful drives around Cairns, including Palm Cove. Each one shows off the area’s stunning scenery in a different way. For a memorable trip along the coast, take the famous Great Barrier Reef Drive in a hire car. It goes from Cairns to Cape Tribulation.

This incredible road hugs the Coral Sea and gives you beautiful ocean views, lovely beach towns, and access to the amazing Great Barrier Reef. If you want a change of scenery, head inland to admire the lush rainforests and beautiful waterfalls of the Atherton Tablelands.

The drive from Cairns to Kuranda is special too. You can go along the winding Gillies Highway or take the picturesque Kuranda Range Road. Both routes let you enjoy the green canopies and stunning views. For an even more unforgettable rainforest adventure, make a short drive to the Daintree Rainforest, the world’s oldest rainforest. No matter which drive you pick, you’ll be blown away by the natural beauty that awaits around Cairns.

2. Parking and Traffic Tips to Save Time and Avoid Fines

Navigating parking in Cairns is usually easy, but a few tips can help you save time and avoid fines. Most shopping centers and supermarkets have free parking. However, street parking in the city center often requires payment and has time limits.

For longer stays, consider using parking garages or off-street parking lots, especially during busy times. Make sure to check parking signs and rules. The enforcement is strict, and fines can be high.

Traffic in Cairns is often calm, but it can get crowded during busy tourist seasons or big events. Plan your trips ahead of time. Allow extra travel time during these times. Enjoy the slow-paced life in Cairns, and feel free to ask locals for directions or parking tips. Their advice will help you easily navigate the city and make the most of your time discovering the area’s many treasures.

Conclusion

In conclusion, finding insider tips can help you get a cheap car rental in Cairns, especially if you know about popular locations like 432 Sheridan Street for pick-up. You can take advantage of off-season discounts, compare local services, and use online booking sites with a search form to find better deals. Renting for a longer time and knowing about rental insurance can save you even more money. To have a great rental experience, pick the right car, check it carefully, and learn about local driving rules. With advice on scenic drives and parking, getting around Cairns will be easy. Use these tips to make your Cairns car rental both affordable and fun.

Why Diesel Engines Lose Power Over Time—And How to Fix It

The Hidden Culprit Behind Declining Engine Performance

Imagine hauling a heavy load with your diesel truck, only to find it struggling to accelerate or performing sluggishly on uphill climbs. Once capable of towing with ease and producing smooth power, your engine suddenly feels underwhelmed. This is a frustration many diesel owners face as their vehicles age.

The issue isn’t always a lack of maintenance. Even well-kept engines can lose power due to mechanical inefficiencies that develop over time. While wear and tear is expected, certain components play a bigger role in this decline than most realize.

The Role of Turbochargers in Diesel Efficiency

Turbochargers are among diesel engines’ unsung heroes. These devices compress air entering the engine, allowing it to burn more fuel and generate more power. Think of it as packing extra energy into each tiny explosion inside the engine.

Without a turbo, your diesel engine would feel outdated. The compressed air accelerates combustion, delivering the torque and power diesel engines are famous for. However, turbochargers aren’t immune to wear-and-tear. When they start to degrade, their efficiency drops, leading to a noticeable dip in engine performance.

Common Turbo Flaws That Drain Power

A failing turbocharger can act like a roadblock to your vehicle’s performance. Common issues include:

  • Seal degradation: Worn seals allow oil to leak into the turbo, reducing efficiency.
  • Shaft imbalance: Damage or imbalance in the turbo shaft leads to vibration and less air compression.
  • Clogged components: Dirt and debris can block airflow, like breathing through a straw.

Over time, these problems can quietly undermine your engine’s strength, making it harder to enjoy smooth rides or consistent towing capacity.

Upgrading Your Turbo: What to Prioritize

When replacing a turbocharger, it’s worth thinking beyond stock Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) options. Modern upgrades can improve airflow capacity, minimize lag, and better resist heat damage—all factors that enhance durability and performance.

For example, Bully Dog Turbo systems are engineered to outperform stock models by reducing lag and improving thermal efficiency. These systems can help your engine reclaim lost power and deliver stronger acceleration when needed.

Long-Term Strategies for Maintaining Peak Performance

A turbo upgrade can significantly boost your diesel engine’s power, but it’s only one piece of the puzzle. For consistent performance, consider:

  • Fuel injector care: Clean injectors ensure proper fuel delivery, avoiding power loss.
  • Air filter inspections: Replace clogged filters to maintain optimal airflow.
  • Regular diagnostics: Catch early signs of inefficiencies before they lead to costly repairs.
  • Exhaust system maintenance: Ensuring free airflow through the exhaust helps the turbo and engine breathe easily.

By adopting a proactive approach to maintenance, you can extend your engine’s lifespan and enjoy consistent power over the years.

Redefining What Your Diesel Engine Can Do

Power loss doesn’t have to be the inevitable fate of an aging diesel engine. Investing in a quality turbocharger and maintaining supporting systems can unlock the performance you thought was gone for good.

Your engine’s best years are far from over—with smart upgrades and proactive care, it can remain a reliable workhorse for years.

21 Team Looking for Short Track Success at Martinsville

Josh Berry and the No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane team have had some recent success on intermediate tracks, including a win at Las Vegas. But as they head to the Wood Brothers’ home track, the half-mile Martinsville Speedway, for Sunday’s Cook Out 400, they’re hoping to remind everyone that they’re also a formidable competitor on short tracks.

“We’re definitely optimistic heading into Martinsville,” said crew chief Miles Stanley. “When you look at the schedule at the start of the year, you tend to put pins in a few races where you feel you’ll have a strong shot, and Martinsville is one of those for us. I’m really looking forward to it.

“We’ve gathered a lot of solid information and feel like there’s a good foundation to build on, especially after our run at Bowman Gray earlier this season. It’s not identical, but the package is very similar.”

In the season-opening, non-points Clash on the quarter mile oval at Bowman Gray Stadium, Berry started 13th in the 75-lap Last Chance Qualifier, drove into the lead for six laps then finished second to secure a starting spot in the main event. In that 200 lapper, he drove from 22nd to 13th despite damage to the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Mustang from aggressive racing in the Qualifier.

Stanley said he’s hoping to keep the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Mustang Dark Horse among the frontrunners, as it has been throughout the start of the 2025 season. “The goal is to keep the team’s confidence up and continue building momentum in the right direction,” he said.

Practice for the Cook Out 400 is set for Saturday at 2 p.m. Eastern Time to be followed by qualifying at 3:10. Amazon Prime will carry the live TV coverage. Sunday’s 210.4-mile, 400-lap race is scheduled to get the green flag just after 3 p.m. with TV coverage on FOX Sports 1. Stage breaks are planned for Laps 80 and 180.

Martinsville Speedway Competition Notes
Cookout 400

Date: Sunday, March 30, 2025
Event: Race 8 of 38
Series: NASCAR Cup Series
Location: Martinsville Speedway (0.526-mile)
#of Laps: 400
Time/TV/Radio: 3:00 PM ET on FS1/MRN/SiriusXM channel 90

Noah Gragson Notes

Noah Gragson will take his first swing of the season at the Martinsville Speedway this weekend. A&W Root Beer will make their 2025 season debut, partnering with Gragson and the No. 4 team for the 400-lap race.

Pioneers in the Industry – Established in 1919, A&W has been a pioneer in the fast-food industry. It all started when Roy W. Allen opened a roadside root beer stand in Lodi, CA. From there, Allen partnered with Frank Wright, and together they coined the name A&W, which has become synonymous with root beer ever since. Then, in 1926 A&W began franchising with a system that has expanded internationally. After a whole century, A&W® Root Beer remains the most popular in its category among consumers.

Gragson’s tenure at Martinsville outside of the NASCAR Cup Series is impressive. In five career NASCAR Xfinity Series starts at the track, he only has one finish outside of the top-four, and that lone 20th-place result in April 2022 came after Gragson qualified third and led 23 laps before he was caught up in a 15-car accident on the frontstretch 10 laps short of the finish. From 2020 through 2022, Gragson’s finishes in the Xfinity Series at Martinsville were third (October 2020), second (April 2021), first (October 2021), 20th (April 2022) and fourth (October 2022).

Gragson’s Martinsville history in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series is just as impressive. In four career Truck Series starts from 2017 through 2018, Gragson never finished worse than seventh. He came home fourth in his Truck Series debut at the track in April 2017, won in his next Martinsville start in October 2017, and then finished fifth and seventh, respectively, in his last two Truck Series starts in March and October 2018.

“Martinsville has been good to me—I’ve won here in both Trucks and Xfinity,” said Gragson. “Now, the goal is to add a Cup win to that list. I’m confident in our guys to get the car where it needs to be to make it happen.”

PAUL LEE RETURNS TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA FOR LUCAS OIL NHRA WINTERNATIONALS AFTER FIRST FUNNY CAR WIN

POMONA, Calif. (March 26, 2025) – After earning his first career NHRA Funny Car win on Sunday in Phoenix, Funny Car driver Paul Lee heads to the 65th annual Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip for the third race of the 2025 Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season.

Lee and his McLeod/FTI Performance Dodge Charger SRT team scored the win last weekend at the NHRA Arizona Nationals over reigning Funny Car champ Austin Prock. After two career runner-up finishes, Lee was thrilled to earn his first victory in his 11,000-horsepower Funny Car.

“A lot of people don’t realize that it takes a lifetime a work to win a Wally (trophy) and it’s not just an overnight thing. I’ve been working towards this since I was 13 years old,” said Lee. “It’s been every day and all I’ve ever thought about is not just driving a nitro Funny Car, but also winning. I’m not happy just being out here. I want to win and winning this Wally, after 50 years of hard work is you know what? It’s worth it.”

Last season, Justin Ashley (Top Fuel), John Force (Funny Car) and Dallas Glenn (Pro Stock) claimed Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals victories. This season’s race will again be broadcast on FS1, including elimination coverage on Sunday March 30 at 6:30 p.m. ET. A special Right Trailers Top Fuel All-Star Callout special will air from 9:30-10:30 p.m. ET on Friday, March 28.

The victory continued the team’s strong momentum that included a pair of final-round appearances and a win in the Funny Car All-Star Callout last year. Now, the goal is even higher after taking over the points lead for the first time in his career heading into Pomona.

“Yes, we won in Phoenix but of course, the ultimate goal is to compete for a championship, whether we get there or not, that’s out of my hands. We can control what we can control and we just we want to be able to compete for a championship and that’s our goal.”

With his win from Phoenix, Lee will be locked into this weekend’s Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge where he’ll rematch with semifinals Bob Tasca III. Prock will take on his John Force Racing teammate Jack Beckman.

To secure his second Funny Car race win at the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals this weekend, he’ll need to get past some of the best drivers in the division including Prock and Beckman. Also in the mix will be former champions Ron Capps, Matt Hagan and J.R. Todd, along with Gainesville winner Chad Green.

Top Fuel pilot Ashley is looking for his fourth straight Winternationals win. If he’s able to win this weekend, he’ll join Don Prudhomme as the only drivers to win four straight Winternationals titles. The rest of the Top Fuel field will be looking to put an end to that streak, including reigning champion Antron Brown. Brown claimed his fourth world title last year at the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals.

The Top Fuel division will also hold the Right Trailers Top Fuel All-Star Callout this weekend, which pits eight marquee Top Fuel drivers against each other on Friday. The first-round matchups are set, as four-time world champion Steve Torrence takes on racing legend Tony Stewart, while Doug Kalitta called out Clay Millican. Shawn Langdon selected Brown as his opening-round opponent, and Ashley and Brittany Force will face off.

Pro Stock standout Glenn earned his second consecutive Winternationals title when he defeated six-time champion Erica Enders in the final round. Glenn has made back-to-back finals in 2025, as has KB Titan Racing teammate and reigning world champ Greg Anderson. Other top names include Aaron Stanfield, Matt Hartford and Jeg Coughlin Jr.

Fans can also see the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Legends Nitro Funny Cars and Flexjet Factory Stock Showdown, while the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department will hold a special racing exhibition.

The Nitro Alley Stage is a huge attraction all weekend and is the main entertainment hub in the pits, hosting Nitro School, NHRA Insider Live, meet and greets, and much more. As always, fans get a pit pass to the most powerful and sensory-filled motorsports attraction on the planet. Fans can see their favorite teams in action and servicing their hot rods between rounds and get autographs from their favorite NHRA drivers.

Race fans at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip can also enjoy the special pre-race ceremonies that celebrate each of the drivers racing for the prestigious Wally on Sunday and includes the fan favorite SealMaster Track Walk. The final can’t-miss experience of any NHRA event is the winner’s circle celebration on Sunday after racing concludes, where fans are invited to congratulate the event winners.

NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series qualifying features qualifying at 1 p.m. and 3:30 PT on Friday and the final two rounds on Saturday at 12:30 and 3 p.m. The finals of the Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge take place at the end of final qualifying in each category. Final eliminations are scheduled for 11 a.m. PT on Sunday. Television coverage includes qualifying on FS1 at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday and 12 p.m. on Sunday, leading into eliminations at 6:30 p.m. ET. A special Right Trailers Top Fuel All-Star Callout special will air from 9:30-10:30 p.m. ET on Friday.
