QUOTABLE /

Kyle Larson, driver of the No. 5 Chevrolet, on Texas Motor Speedway: “We’ve always had a good mile-and-a-half program I feel like and we’ve just always improved on it. Plus we’ve won Texas before. I think this weekend has potential to be another strong weekend for the No. 5 HENDRICKCARS.COM team.”

Chase Elliott, driver of the No. 9 Chevrolet, the 100th anniversary of NAPA: “This weekend is 100 years of NAPA. They’ve been a huge piece of my career, a vital piece of the puzzle to, truthfully, my career even becoming a career. I really can’t say enough about them and what they’ve done for me and my family and everyone at Hendrick Motorsports as well. I think we’ve all kind of become a part of one another’s families over the years. And it’s been a really nice and natural fit. It’s a pretty cool thing, when you have that type of relationship with the partner and the people within the company, too. I can’t say enough about them. I appreciate them and they always treat me like they appreciate me.”

William Byron, driver of the No. 24 Chevrolet, on Texas Motor Speedway: “I think this weekend should be a good one for us. We’ve always run pretty well at Texas, and I feel like we’re really showing the strength we have on the No. 24 team right now. We just want to keep executing to the best of our abilities every weekend.”

Alex Bowman, driver of the No. 48 Chevrolet, on Texas Motor Speedway: “Texas Motor Speedway is always a tough place. It’s fast and challenging, and it can really test you as a driver. But I’m feeling confident coming in here with my team. My Ally 48 crew has put in a ton of work preparing for this race – we’ve done our homework, and I know they’ve given me a fast Chevy to work with. We understand the challenges this track brings, and we’ve got a plan for it. I’m determined to go out there, execute that plan, and show what this team is capable of.”

Beard Motorsports: Jesse Love at the Würth 400 Texas Advance

● Location: Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth
● Layout: 1.5 mile oval

● TV/Radio: FOX / MRN / SiriusXM NASCAR Radio

Notes of Interest

●Back to Back. Following Sunday’s Jack Links 500 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway, Beard Motorsports is set appear in a second consecutive NASCAR Cup Series race when it hits the Texas Motor Speedway oval in Fort Worth for this Sunday’s Würth 400. It marks the first time Beard Motorsports is taking its racing program to the Lone Star State. Throughout the team’s nine-year history, it has been a fixture at NASCAR’s big tracks of Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway and Talladega. On occasion, the team has participated in races outside of the superspeedway category. This will mark the first time Beard has competed at an intermediate style track since fielding the No. 62 Chevrolet for driver Austin Hill in the 2023 Firekeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, where Hill finished 28th.

●A Fresh New Face for a Fresh New Track. The 1.5-mile Texas oval isn’t the only thing that will be new to Beard Motorsports this weekend as the team will have a new face behind the wheel of the No. 62 Chevrolet in driver Jesse Love. The native of Menlo Park, California, is in the midst of his second Xfinity series season as a fulltime driver of the No. 2 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing (RCR). He made his NASCAR Cup Series debut just three weeks prior to the Texas race when he strapped into RCR’s No. 33 C4 Ultimate Energy Chevrolet for the April 13 Food City 500 at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway. He’s a two-time winner and seven-time pole qualifier during his young Xfinity Series career, the wins coming last April at Talladega and at this year’s season opener at Daytona. He’s also logged one Xfinity Series start on the 1.5-mile Texas oval.

●Beard Motorsports and C4. Riding along with Love and the No. 62 Beard Chevrolet at Texas will be C4 Energy, America’s fastest-growing energy drink brand. Nutrabolt, owner of C4®, is the No. 1-selling global pre-workout brand and one of the fastest-growing energy drink companies in the country. Making its C4 Ultimate Energy product lineup more delicious and even cooler, Nutrabolt recently introduced the Frost collection – a product extension available in three flavors that will also unveil a unique can technology that transitions from silver to blue when the can is cold and ready to drink.

●Different Tracks by the Numbers. The superspeedway program at Beard Motorsports has been well-documented and, in its nine seasons, superspeedways have been the team’s bread and butter. The first time the No. 62 Beard-owned Chevrolet made the starting field at a non-superspeedway race dates back to 2020, when the team participated in the Go Bowling 235 NASCAR Cup Series race on the Daytona road course. The team’s original driver, Brendan Gaughan, was behind the wheel of the No. 62 Chevrolet that season in what was his final year of racing in the Cup Series. A transmission issue resulted in the team finishing the race 39th.

● In Case You Didn’t Know. Entering a new race market is always a good time to highlight the Beard Motorsports story – a boutique race team, borne out of a passion for racing and sustained by love for the family patriarch. The late Mark Beard Sr., brought his dream to life when he fielded the No. 62 Chevrolet in the season-opening Daytona 500 in 2017. Upon his passing in 2021, his wife, daughter and son carried pursued the racing dream in remembrance of Beard. Owned by Linda Beard and managed by daughter Amie Beard-Deja and son Mark Beard Jr., the No. 62 NASCAR Cup Series team continues to participate in select events on an annual basis.

● A Powered Partnership. As it has been since 2017, the No. 62 Beard Motorsports team has been powered by an ECR-built engine and the team has leveraged the power of those engines to post solid finishes. During its previous eight seasons of racing, Beard Motorsports has participated in 30 Cup Series events, scoring two top-five finishes and seven top-10s.

● Next Up. Beard Motorsports will be on hiatus for the next two months before making its return to the NASCAR Cup Series at the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the July 27 Brickyard 400.

Jesse Love, Driver of the No. 62 C4 Ultimate Energy Chevrolet Camaro:

You made your Cup Series debut at Bristol. What was that like, and how does that prepare you for this weekend?

“Making my Cup Series debut at Bristol was a moment that I had been working toward my entire life. I learned a ton and was really grateful to have that opportunity. Going into Bristol, I was a little worried about being overwhelmed and what it would be like to get in the car with my emotions. I feel like I did a good job of managing that and was able to execute in the car. As excited as I was to get that first start, it’s also now out of the way so I feel like I’m even more ready for Texas now that I have that first start.”

Was there anything you learned that was surprising and that will help you?

“This wasn’t really a surprise, but something I looked forward to at Bristol was racing against the competition in the Cup Series. I knew the depth of the competition would be so much more than what we see in the Xfinity Series. I am racing against guys that I think are really good. They’re good at what they do and they don’t make a lot of mistakes. It was a big deal for me to get in the Cup car and get that experience of racing against that level of talent. I felt really comfortable in the car and really can’t wait to get back behind the wheel and do more.”

How are you preparing for this weekend’s race at Texas?

“I’m doing a lot of the same things I did to get ready for Bristol. I will be logging laps on the simulator and doing some iRacing – just spending some time getting familiar with the track. I feel pretty confident about the fitness part of it and will be ready for the longer distance, so I should be fine. Texas may not be as physically demanding because it’s not a short track, but the heat will be more demanding and that will make it a bigger challenge compared to Bristol. And Texas is a tough track. It’s really fast.”

What are your goals for this weekend at Texas?

“The goal will be to keep collecting experience and learning the Cup car. I am at a point where I focus more on the execution part, running all of the laps and feeling confident that if I do my very best job, then I can leave the racetrack with a good result that will satisfy me and the team. Racing in the Cup Series fulltime is the dream, so to get this opportunity with Beard Motorsports is great. But these opportunities won’t be here if I don’t perform. Both of the races I am racing for Beard at Texas and Indy will allow me to gain knowledge of how this car races at different tracks and hopefully set me up to pounce on future opportunities.”

Additionally, Burton carries an average Xfinity track finish of 10.0.

Also, the Huntersville, N.C. native has three NASCAR Cup Series starts at Texas Motor Speedway, delivering a track-best of 18th after starting 20th in the 2022 edition of the Autotrader Echo Park Automotive 500 driving for Wood Brothers Racing.

Without the benefit of practice, Burton tackled the 2.66-mile superspeedway for the first time last weekend in qualifying, turning the 29th fastest lap overall in time trials, securing his 10th Xfinity Series start.

From the drop of the green flag, Burton wrestled to the front in his No. 25 DEX Imaging Ford Mustang and drafted his way to stage points in Stages 1 and 2, respectively.

Maintaining solid track position in Stage 3, Burton was able to remain clutch with the field and avoided a last-lap accident to earn a solid eighth-place finish, securing his fifth top-10 finish of the 2025 NASCAR Xfinity Series season.

LONG POND, Pa. (May 1, 2025) – It’s MillerTech time.

MillerTech Energy, an Ohio-based company at the forefront of premium lithium battery technology, has become the entitlement sponsor for the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) race on Friday, June 20, at Pocono Raceway.

The race will be branded the MillerTech Battery 200 as the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series event will be lengthened by 25 miles and 10 laps on the 2.5-mile “Tricky Triangle.” The 200-mile, 80-lap race will become the longest NCTS race ever contested at Pocono Raceway, with last season’s event previously holding that distinction among the 15 hosted at the venue.

The MillerTech Battery 200, the 14th of 25 races on the NCTS schedule, will be broadcast live on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM Radio beginning at 5 p.m. ET.

“We’re excited to team up with Pocono Raceway for the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series race and help power one of the most thrilling weekends in motorsports,” said Lester Miller, founder and owner of MillerTech Energy. “As a faith-driven, American-owned company, this partnership is a great fit — not just because of the racing, but because of the passionate fans and campers who bring this place to life. We’re looking forward to connecting with them and sharing the reliable power MillerTech is known for.”

This partnership marks MillerTech’s first NASCAR race entitlement, but the company is currently involved in the sport. MillerTech is sponsoring the Front Row Motorsports’ No. 4 Ford entry of NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) driver Noah Gragson at three races. One of those will be The Great American Getaway 400 presented by VISITPA.COM at Pocono Raceway on Sunday, June 22.

The company also is planning on fan engagement activations throughout the Pocono Raceway weekend. In celebration of the partnership in advance of the race weekend, both Pocono Raceway and MillerTech are offering fans limited discounts. How has betting affected the racing industry?

Specific areas of the racing industry have spearheaded the rise of betting platforms all over the globe. In fact, this success occurred long before the internet reshaped the fabric of the industry, when some of the most popular horse racing courses throughout the UK, Ireland and the rest of Europe all had bustling stalls where the most prominent sports betting companies would offer markets on live events.

This approach moved effortlessly online in the early 2000s, and spread further across the racing industry. Instead of sports betting platforms referring to horse racing as their primary racing market, motorsports started to benefit immensely from the global connectivity emerging as part of the rise of online gambling.

In the modern market, this influence is unavoidable, with all racing markets, especially motorsports, operating hand in hand with some of the world’s highest-rated gambling platforms and growing into the burgeoning US market.

The American sports betting powerhouse

It wasn’t until 2018 that a landmark ruling allowed sports betting companies to operate in the US market. Since then, there has been a colossal rise in the number of sports betting companies operating throughout the North American continent – but the bulk of this market has been in the US, where some states have rewritten their legislation to allow online sports betting companies to operate within their state lines.

It has been an enormous shift in attitude from a country that, aside from a handful of states, was always against the idea of legalizing the sports betting market. However, now that the sector generates tens of billions of dollars in tax revenue annually, this hardline approach has softened considerably, resulting in this growth.

When betting market analysts and economists try to find out how betting on motorsport has become so popular in Pennsylvania, they only need to look at the broader impact of the wider market.

Pennsylvania is one of the biggest sports states in the US, so while the change in legislation helped to turn it into a hub for motorsports betting, it simply channeled the market that has existed online for quite some time. It’s just that regulators got on top of it, started to tax it, and allowed these companies to operate.

Sponsorships

Sports betting companies and elite professional teams have longstanding ties throughout Western culture. Although the US was slightly slower in picking up on this trend than the UK, where dozens of sports betting companies sponsor leading teams, the racing industry is now one of the frontrunners in this budding partnership.

It’s only since the beginning of this decade that we have seen betting sponsors enter the world of American motorsports en masse. Other global motorsports organizations have had these ties in place for quite some time. For instance, Formula One has worked with almost every prime corporation you can think of, over the years.

While motorsports and betting companies historically had limited ties in the US, this whole landscape changed in the 2020s. So, although this isn’t an entirely new factor, it has transformed the US market, particularly since the beginning of this decade.

A growing interest in niche motorsports

Aside from the glitz and sparkling wealth of F1 and NASCAR, dozens of smaller organizations have been able to build their brands over the last decade. The internet has brought these communities together online and made it easier to access streams and services that broadcast the smaller races within motorsports.

Formula E, for instance, was a brand that didn’t have much traction when it first launched in 2014. However, as more people started to purchase electric cars, debated the best types of EV chargers and noted the environmental impact of F1 and NASCAR, the popularity of Formula E surged.

Betting companies have picked up on this interest and have adjusted their markets accordingly. Putting these markets alongside some of the world’s most renowned motorsports has helped create a new level of interest in these niche markets. While they still might not have the visibility or notoriety of more established organizations, betting markets have helped introduce them to a broader international audience.

In-play action

It’s not just motorsports where betting has resulted in the rise and development of in-play markets; it’s the exponential rise in the number of people who use their mobile phones as their primary source of accessing gambling markets.

Ultimately, this gave rise to and legitimized the existence of 24/7 betting markets – obviously, this meant that sportsbooks were leaving no stone unturned when it came to finding new markets that did not exist prior to the rise of this innovative technology.

There are now more eyes on these in-play markets, and with motorsports markets now offering other components, such as cashing out during a race, accumulator betting across different motorsports, and betting on the fastest laps and the teams with the highest points at the end of the race, interest in the market has soared to dizzying new heights.

Conclusion

Many of the changes in racing and betting industries can be attributed to the rise of online devices and mobile apps. Not only do they provide an avenue for people to keep updated with the latest motorsports news 24/7, but they have created a whole new stream of income for sports betting companies that are exploring ways to tap into this vast market.

Sure, the change in legislation, particularly in the US, has seen a number of new sportsbook sponsorships and drivers aligning themselves with different companies via affiliate marketing. However, they have been able to achieve new heights because of the interconnectivity and the ease with which we can access content about motorsports and simultaneously explore the latest betting markets.

Betting continues to adapt to new technological changes. Although Formula One has always been a global sport, social media and the internet have made it much easier and cheaper to stay connected to relevant news about the world’s dominant motorsports. The same applies to NASCAR and other offshoots of motorsports leagues that have a smaller audience.

When to Replace, When to Reinforce—Trailer Part Wisdom

Let’s be honest, camper trailers are tough, but they’re not invincible. If you’re someone who clocks up serious kilometres off-road or even just enjoys regular weekend trips, your trailer is taking a beating more often than you probably realise.

Knowing whether to swap out a part completely or give it a bit more support isn’t always obvious. But understanding the difference between what needs replacing and what can be reinforced can save you time, money, and headaches down the track.

Don’t Ignore the Warning Signs

Before we get into what camper trailer parts to replace or reinforce, there’s one rule to keep in mind: trailers rarely fail without warning. There are always signs. The trick is spotting them early enough to act.

Look out for:

  • Unusual noises – Creaking, clunking, or rattling that wasn’t there on the last trip
  • Visible wear – Cracks, rust, or loose bolts on moving parts or key structural areas
  • Changes in handling – If the trailer pulls differently or feels unbalanced
  • Leaking seals – Especially around bearings or suspension components
  • Tyre wear – Uneven wear often points to alignment or suspension issues

Regular checks before and after trips can help you catch these things before they become bigger problems.

When to Replace: No More Patching

Some parts just aren’t worth trying to reinforce. If they’re worn out or damaged, it’s smarter and safer to replace them outright.

1. Wheel Bearings

These take a constant beating, especially on long trips or rough roads. If you hear grinding or notice heat coming off the hubs, don’t mess around. Replace them. Greasing can only go so far when wear sets in.

2. Shock Absorbers

Once the seals are gone or the ride gets noticeably rougher, it’s time to replace. Reinforcing isn’t an option here—once they’ve failed, you’re just dragging dead weight.

3. Tyres

Patching a small puncture is fine, but once sidewalls are cracked or treads are bald, you’re gambling. Age is just as important as condition; rubber breaks down even if they look okay on the surface.

4. Springs and Bushings

If they’re sagging, rusted out, or you see visible cracks, don’t waste time trying to reinforce them. You’ll get more performance, safety, and comfort from new components.

5. Braking Components

Drums, discs, pads, cables—if your trailer brakes aren’t performing properly, replace the problem part. Brakes are a non-negotiable when it comes to safety, and trying to patch or adjust something that’s worn out can lead to failure at the worst possible moment.

When to Reinforce: Give it Extra Strength

Not everything needs to be replaced the moment it shows signs of wear. In some cases, adding reinforcement is a cost-effective way to extend life and improve performance.

1. Chassis and Drawbar

If you’ve spotted surface rust or minor cracks near welds, don’t panic. Depending on the extent, it might be enough to sand back, treat the rust, and add some bracing or fresh welds. Just make sure it’s properly inspected—if the structural integrity is compromised, replacement is the safer route.

2. Hinges and Latches

Loose or rattling? Reinforce them with additional fasteners or upgraded hardware. Adding rubber grommets or padding can reduce wear from vibration and extend their life.

3. Jockey Wheel Mounts

If they’re starting to bend or flex under load, a bracket or plate can spread the weight and reduce stress on the main attachment point. Reinforcement here helps avoid total failure, especially on rougher tracks.

4. Toolboxes and Storage Fixings

You don’t need to replace a whole storage unit because it’s coming loose. Adding support underneath or upgrading fasteners can make a huge difference. Just be mindful of added weight.

5. Suspension Mounts

Worn but not destroyed? Reinforcing mounts with gussets or stronger brackets can buy you a lot more time before needing to replace the whole system. It’s also a chance to upgrade the strength to suit heavier loads or harsher terrain.

Know Your Load Limits

One of the biggest reasons parts wear out faster than they should is overloading. Just because your trailer can carry a certain weight doesn’t mean it should, especially not long-term or over tough terrain.

When deciding whether to replace or reinforce, ask yourself whether your current setup is suitable for how you’re using it. If you’re constantly pushing close to (or over) the limit, no amount of maintenance is going to save those parts for long.

Don’t Let “Good Enough” Be Your Standard

It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking, “It’s still working, so I’ll leave it for now.” But the truth is, worn or weak parts rarely fail in a convenient spot. And no one wants to be crawling under their trailer on the side of a dusty road while flies and sweat team up to ruin your day.

Being proactive with both replacement and reinforcement means fewer unexpected problems and more time doing what your trailer was made for: getting out there and exploring.

What Small Businesses Can Learn from Clinical Research Teams

When thinking of clinical research, small businesses are rarely the first thing that comes to mind. Yet, despite the obvious differences in scale and sector, the way research teams operate can offer valuable lessons for smaller organizations striving for structure, efficiency, and growth.

Clinical trials are notoriously complex. They involve strict timelines, large datasets, multiple stakeholders, and regulatory scrutiny. To manage this chaos, research teams rely on strategic workflows, standardized tools, and precise documentation. These very principles can benefit small business teams, even outside the realm of healthcare.

Project clarity and structure

One of the key strengths of clinical research teams is their ability to work with clear protocols. Every task, from patient recruitment to data submission, follows a defined process. For small businesses, adopting a similar mindset can reduce confusion and streamline operations. Instead of ad hoc decisions, having written procedures and structured timelines encourages accountability and clarity.

Embracing data-driven decisions

Clinical trials thrive on evidence. Every conclusion is based on collected data, not intuition or guesswork. This is a mindset many small businesses could benefit from. Tracking customer behavior, sales performance, or market trends can guide better strategic decisions than gut feeling alone.

The use of analytics tools doesn’t need to be overly complex. Even basic dashboards or simple KPIs can shift the focus from assumptions to actionable insights—just as researchers rely on metrics to assess a trial’s progress.

Leveraging specialized software

One of the major differences between high-functioning research teams and chaotic trial setups is their use of dedicated software. Modern platforms are designed to eliminate inefficiencies, reduce manual input, and ensure quality control.

Small businesses can adopt a similar approach by choosing tools that match their needs—whether for project management, CRM, or inventory tracking. For research organizations, platforms like ctms by my-researchmanager.com have become essential. These tools provide centralized dashboards, automated alerts, and regulatory safeguards—benefits that any growing business can appreciate when tailored to their context.

Communication is everything

Effective collaboration is another shared priority. Clinical teams often work across continents and time zones, making clear communication vital. They rely on centralized messaging systems, task trackers, and document sharing platforms to stay aligned.

For small businesses, especially remote or hybrid teams, embracing digital communication tools can make the difference between thriving and surviving. Miscommunication can lead to missed opportunities or duplicated work—both avoidable with the right systems in place.

Final takeaway

Clinical trial teams are a masterclass in precision, coordination, and process management. While small businesses may not be dealing with FDA audits or double-blind studies, they do face their own high-stakes challenges. Borrowing the structure and mindset of research teams—especially around planning, software use, and data discipline—can elevate daily operations and set the stage for sustainable growth.

Sometimes, the best inspiration for success lies in an unexpected place.

Connor Zilisch ruled out for Xfinity event at Texas; Kyle Larson to pilot No. 88 JR Motorsports entry

Photo by John Knittel for SpeedwayMedia.com.

Kyle Larson will compete as an interim competitor for Connor Zilisch and the No. 88 JR Motorsports (JRM) Chevrolet team in the upcoming NASCAR Xfinity Series event at Texas Motor Speedway.

The news comes as Zilisch, a full-time Xfinity competitor for JRM, has been ruled out of this weekend’s Texas event. The Charlotte, North Carolina, native is taking time to recover from lower back injuries sustained during this past weekend’s event at Talladega Superspeedway. Zilisch’s injuries occurred on the final lap at Talladega as he was turned by Jesse Love in the backstretch, hitting the inside wall head-on while leading the race. In the aftermath of the accident, Zilisch, who was unable to complete the final lap, ended up in 27th place. Despite reporting soreness, he initially stated his intentions to compete at Texas.

Through the first 11 events of the 2025 Xfinity season, Zilisch, who is contending for the Rookie-of-the-Year title, has recorded three top-10 results and an average-finishing result of 16.8. He notched his first victory of the year at Circuit of the Americas in late March and is currently ranked in sixth place in the driver’s standings.

With Zilisch ruled out for Texas, Larson, the 2021 Cup Series champion from Elk Grove, California, will pilot JRM’s No. 88 Chevrolet Camaro entry for the first time since he steered the entry to a victory at Watkins Glen International in August 2022. Larson is also no stranger to Texas when it comes to Xfinity competition. Through eight previous starts in the series at the track, he drove the No. 42 Chip Ganassi Racing Chevrolet entry to a victory in November 2016. He has also recorded a total of three top-three results and four top-10 results.

Through 118 previous starts in the Xfinity circuit, Larson has notched a total of 16 victories, eight poles, 60 top-five results, 84 top-10 results, 2,822 laps lead and an average-finishing result of 9.8. He made two scheduled Xfinity starts in the No. 17 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet entry at Homestead-Miami Speedway and at Bristol Motor Speedway, respectively. After finishing fourth at Homestead in March, the Californian notched a dominant victory at Bristol in mid-April.

Zilisch’s timetable in returning to Xfinity competition remains to be determined. Following this weekend’s event at Texas, the series is off for the following two weekends before returning to action at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 24.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series returns to competition this upcoming Saturday, May 3, at Texas Motor Speedway for the Andy’s Frozen Custard 300. The event will be broadcast beginning at 2 p.m. ET on the CW Network.
