Coleman, Telitz, and Schandorff Confirmed for Gulf 12 Hours with Optimum Motorsport

DENVER, Colo. (December 2, 2024) – Todd Coleman, Aaron Telitz, and Frederik Schandorff will reunite later this month to compete in the prestigious Lenovo Gulf 12 Hours at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. Representing Optimum Motorsport, the defending Pro-Am class champions, the trio will pilot the No. 69 McLaren GT3 Evo in the season-ending endurance race.

The drivers first joined forces with Optimum Motorsport in September at Creventic’s Hankook 24H Barcelona, where they secured overall pole position and displayed dominant front-running pace. Leading from the start and through the night at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, the team proved to be a formidable combination. Building on that success, they now aim to contend for overall honors in the Pro class of the Gulf 12 Hours.

“I’m super excited to be back in the Optimum McLaren for the Gulf 12 Hours and competing against some of the best GT drivers from around the world,” said Coleman. “We immediately came together as a team and driver lineup in Barcelona. I’m looking forward to building on that experience as we take on the Yas Marina Circuit.”

“I’m really excited to go racing with Optimum at the Gulf 12 Hours,” said Telitz. “Fred, Todd and I worked well together earlier in the year at Barcelona, so it’ll be fun to have the gang back together for the last race of the year. I’ve never competed in the Gulf 12 Hours before, but it looks like a fun race so I can’t wait to get going.”

“It’s great to have Todd, Aaron, and Fred racing with us again,” remarked Shaun Goff, Optimum Team Principal. “They claimed pole position for their first race together back in September, so I’m eager to see what they can do this time around at the Yas Marina Circuit.”

This year’s Gulf 12 Hours introduces a revised format. The event kicks off with an eight-hour race starting in the morning and running until sunset, followed by a two-hour break. The action resumes with a four-hour sprint under the lights of Yas Marina Circuit, with over 20 GT cars from seven manufacturers vying for glory.

The action gets under on Friday, December 13th with a 45-minute shakedown ahead of the official practice Saturday morning. Each of the three drivers will contest in a 15-minute qualifying session, with the average time taken from each of their best laps to determine their starting order for Sunday’s main event. The first of four qualifying sets is set to begin on Saturday, December 14th at 7:00 PM GST, 10:00 AM EST. The first segment of the race will begin on Sunday, December 15th at 9:00 AM GST, 12:00 AM EST, and the second segment will begin at 7:00 PM GST, 10:00 AM EST. All qualifying and race sessions will air live on the Gulf 12 Hours’ YouTube channel.

How to Choose Your Jeep for Your Family in Michigan

When it comes to finding the perfect family vehicle, a Jeep offers unmatched versatility, comfort, and ruggedness. For Michigan families, where weather and terrain can vary greatly, a Jeep is an excellent choice. With options like the Jeep Grand Cherokee for sale Michigan, you can find a model that perfectly suits your family’s needs. But how do you decide which Jeep is the right one for you? This guide breaks down everything you need to consider before making your purchase.

Understand Your Family’s Needs

Every family is different, and so are their vehicle requirements. Consider factors such as:

  • Size: How many seats do you need?
  • Storage: Do you require ample cargo space for trips, sports gear, or groceries?
  • Activities: Are you into off-roading, or do you primarily need a city-friendly SUV?
  • Safety: What safety features are essential for your peace of mind?

Jeep models like the Grand Cherokee and Wrangler come with various configurations, making them adaptable to different lifestyles.

Assess Michigan’s Driving Conditions

Michigan’s weather can be unpredictable, with harsh winters, rainy springs, and beautiful but rugged landscapes in the Upper Peninsula. This makes a Jeep an ideal choice due to its:

  • 4×4 Capability: Perfect for snow, mud, and rough terrains.
  • Traction Control: Essential for icy roads.
  • Ground Clearance: Helpful for navigating uneven rural paths or dirt roads.

When choosing a Jeep, ensure it has features that cater to these conditions.

Compare Jeep Models for Families

Jeep offers several models, each with unique benefits for family use. Here’s a comparison of popular options:

Jeep Grand Cherokee

  • Key Features: Spacious interior, advanced safety systems, and a comfortable ride.
  • Best For: Families seeking a premium experience with off-road capability.

Jeep Wrangler

  • Key Features: Iconic design, removable tops, and exceptional off-road performance.
  • Best For: Adventurous families who enjoy outdoor activities.

Jeep Compass

  • Key Features: Compact size, affordability, and decent cargo space.
  • Best For: Small families or those looking for a fuel-efficient city SUV.

Jeep Wagoneer

  • Key Features: Luxury features, three-row seating, and impressive towing capacity.
  • Best For: Large families who need maximum space and comfort.

Consider Safety Features

Family vehicles need to prioritize safety. Jeep models are equipped with advanced safety features such as:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control: Helps maintain a safe distance from other vehicles.
  • Blind Spot Monitoring: Alerts you to cars in your blind spot.
  • Lane Keep Assist: Prevents unintentional lane drifting.
  • Airbags and Child Safety Locks: Standard in most models.

Before making your choice, ensure your preferred Jeep includes these critical features.

Evaluate Fuel Efficiency

With rising fuel prices, fuel efficiency is an important consideration for Michigan families. While Jeeps are known for their rugged capabilities, some models offer better mileage than others. For instance:

  • Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe: A plug-in hybrid offering a mix of electric and gas power.
  • Jeep Compass: A smaller, more fuel-efficient SUV.

Choose a model that balances your performance needs with fuel economy.

Factor in Technology and Comfort

Modern Jeeps come with an array of technology and comfort features designed to enhance your driving experience:

  • Uconnect System: A user-friendly infotainment system with navigation, entertainment, and connectivity.
  • Heated Seats and Steering Wheel: Ideal for cold Michigan winters.
  • Dual-Zone Climate Control: Keeps everyone comfortable regardless of the season.

If your family values entertainment on the go, look for models with rear-seat screens or additional USB ports.

Budget and Financing Options

Jeeps come in a range of prices, so it’s essential to set a budget. Additionally, consider:

  • New vs. Used: A new Jeep offers the latest features but may cost more. A used Jeep can be a more affordable option if it’s in good condition.
  • Financing Plans: Explore dealership financing or pre-approved loans from your bank.
  • Insurance Costs: Larger or higher-performance Jeeps may have higher insurance premiums.

Test Drive Your Top Choices

Once you’ve shortlisted a few models, schedule test drives to get a feel for each vehicle. Pay attention to:

  • Handling and Comfort: Is it easy to drive and comfortable for everyone?
  • Visibility: Are blind spots minimal, and is the driving position adjustable?
  • Noise Levels: Is the cabin quiet enough for your liking?

A test drive helps ensure the Jeep meets your expectations and feels right for your family.

Conclusion

Choosing the right Jeep for your family in Michigan involves careful consideration of your needs, driving conditions, safety, and budget. Models like the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, and Compass each offer unique advantages, making it easier to find one that fits your lifestyle.

By evaluating features, test-driving your options, and exploring local deals, you can confidently select the perfect family vehicle. So, whether you’re navigating snowy roads or heading out for a weekend adventure, your Jeep will be ready to tackle it all.

Race Car Driver Injury: What Happens if the Pit Crew Was Negligent?

In auto racing, speed and precision are critical. Drivers rely on their teams for mechanical expertise and rapid decision-making, especially during high-pressure pit stops. However, when negligence by a pit crew results in a driver’s serious injury, questions of liability arise. Personal injury lawsuits in these scenarios involve unique considerations, including the contractual relationships within auto racing, insurance coverage, and the role of negligence in determining liability.

The Role of the Pit Crew in Auto Racing

Pit crews are integral to the success and safety of a race team. Their duties include changing tires, refueling, and repairing vehicles in seconds, often under intense pressure. Errors can have far-reaching consequences. A single oversight—such as failing to properly secure a wheel or using malfunctioning equipment—can lead to catastrophic injuries.

Establishing Negligence in Auto Racing Injury Cases

Negligence is a cornerstone of personal injury law, and for an injured auto racing driver to bring a claim against a pit crew or associated parties, the following elements must be proven:

  1. Duty of Care
The pit crew, as part of their professional responsibilities, owes a duty of care to the driver. This duty requires them to perform their tasks competently, adhering to industry standards and established safety protocols.
  2. Breach of Duty
Negligence occurs when the pit crew’s actions—or failure to act—deviate from what a reasonable professional would do in similar circumstances. Examples include improper installation of vehicle components, ignoring safety warnings, or failing to follow standard procedures.
  3. Causation
The injured party must demonstrate a direct link between the pit crew’s breach of duty and the injury sustained. For instance, if a wheel detaches after a pit stop, causing a crash, the negligence of the crew may be directly responsible.
  4. Damages
Damages encompass the financial and personal losses resulting from the injury. This could include medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, lost earnings, or diminished earning capacity, as well as non-economic damages like pain and suffering.

Each of these elements must be supported by evidence for a negligence claim to succeed.

Parties That Could Be Held Liable

Liability in auto racing injury cases often extends beyond the pit crew. Identifying the responsible parties depends on the specifics of the incident, contractual agreements, and the roles of the various entities involved. Potential defendants include:

1. Individual Pit Crew Members

Pit crew members may face personal liability if their negligence directly caused the injury. However, because they act within the scope of their employment, their liability is often transferred to their employer.

2. The Race Team

Teams are typically held liable for the actions of their employees or contractors. Under the legal doctrine of respondeat superior, employers are responsible for harm caused by their workers when performing job-related duties.

3. The Auto Racing Organization

As the sanctioning body, the auto racing organization could be implicated if it failed to enforce safety protocols or allowed unsafe conditions to persist. For instance, the auto racing organization might share responsibility if a rule violation contributed to the injury.

4. Equipment Manufacturers

Product liability law comes into play if defective equipment was involved. Manufacturers could be sued if, for example, a faulty jack failed during a pit stop, leading to injury.

Contracts and Assumption of Risk

Professional drivers generally sign contracts acknowledging the inherent dangers of their sport. These agreements often include waivers that limit liability for ordinary risks. However, negligence falls outside the scope of these waivers. A waiver does not protect a negligent party from legal accountability, especially when injuries result from preventable errors.

The Role of Insurance in Compensation

Insurance policies are a key source of compensation in personal injury cases involving auto racing. Coverage may come from several sources:

1. Team Liability Insurance

Most auto racing teams carry liability insurance to protect against lawsuits. These policies typically cover negligence by employees, including pit crew members.

2. The Auto Racing Organization’s Insurance Coverage

The organization sponsoring the auto racing itself may maintain policies to address injuries during sanctioned events. This coverage can include participants, officials, and other stakeholders.

3. Umbrella Policies

Large organizations often maintain additional insurance to address claims that exceed standard policy limits. This ensures coverage for high-value lawsuits.

4. Equipment Manufacturers’ Insurance

If defective equipment contributed to the injury, manufacturers’ product liability insurance may provide compensation.

According to auto accident lawyers, Russell & Hill, PLLC, liability often hinges on identifying the party or parties responsible for compensating the injured driver. Insurance plays a significant role in ensuring injured parties receive payment for their losses.

Jurisdiction and Venue Considerations

Lawsuits involving professional sports often present unique jurisdictional challenges. The appropriate venue for an auto racing-related case depends on several factors:

  • Location of the Incident: Cases are typically filed in the state where the injury occurred.
  • Contractual Agreements: Drivers and teams may have agreements specifying arbitration or a specific dispute jurisdiction.
  • Federal vs. State Court: If multiple states are involved or the claim exceeds a certain monetary threshold, federal court may have jurisdiction.

Choosing the right jurisdiction requires evaluating factors like convenience for the parties, potential outcomes, and applicable laws.

Evidence in Auto Racing Personal Injury Cases

Proving negligence requires strong evidence. Key pieces of evidence in these cases may include:

  1. Video Footage
Auto Racing races are extensively recorded, providing valuable visual evidence of the incident.
  2. Pit Stop Data
Timing data and crew performance metrics can reveal errors or deviations from the protocol.
  3. Expert Testimony
Experts in motorsport safety, vehicle mechanics, or accident reconstruction can help establish causation and breach of duty.
  4. Medical Records
Detailed medical documentation supports claims for damages by showing the extent of injuries and required treatment.

Potential Challenges in Litigation

Auto racing personal injury cases involve complexities that distinguish them from typical lawsuits:

  • Assumption of Risk: Defendants may argue that the driver accepted the risks of racing, including pit stop errors. While this defense does not apply to negligence, it could complicate the case.
  • Multiple Defendants: Cases involving multiple liable parties can result in disputes over apportioning responsibility.
  • High Stakes: The financial and reputational stakes are significant, often prompting aggressive defense strategies.

Resolving Claims: Litigation vs. Settlement

Most personal injury claims are resolved through settlements rather than trials. In high-profile professional sports cases, settlements may be preferred to avoid public scrutiny and lengthy litigation. However, if settlement negotiations fail, the case proceeds to trial, where a jury determines liability and damages.

Final Thoughts

Injuries caused by pit crew negligence during auto racing events raise complex legal questions involving liability, insurance, and jurisdiction. Identifying the responsible parties, proving negligence, and securing compensation require thoroughly understanding the sport’s unique dynamics and applicable laws. Choosing a personal injury attorney experienced in these cases will improve the chances of a successful case outcome.

DAMS Lucas Oil secures podium on F2’s maiden visit to Qatar

DAMS Lucas Oil clinched a brilliant second-place finish in Saturday’s Sprint Race with Jak Crawford, as Dino Beganovic earnt his first points in Formula 2 on his debut weekend in the Feature Race.

Both cars qualified strongly, meaning that Crawford would line up in fourth for the Sprint Race, with Beganovic directly behind in sixth. The American managed his hard tyres well to battle his way up into the podium positions on Lap 17, and would cross the line in a fantastic second place to ensure a sixth top-three finish of the season.

In the #8 car, Beganovic settled into his first F2 outing well, sitting in seventh place before contact from behind dropped him down the order towards the end of the event, but fought back to finish tenth.

In the Feature Race, the Scuderia Ferrari Academy Driver moved up to third on the opening tour, pitting on Lap 8, unfortunately just before a Safety Car intervention. The F2 debutant drove brilliantly in the second half of the race to make his way up to fifth and score his first points in the championship.

On the other side of the garage, Crawford changed his tyres a lap earlier than Beganovic while occupying sixth. Later in the race on Lap 13, the Aston Martin Driver Development Programme member would suffer contact which forced him to retire the car.

Qualifying: 6th
Sprint Race: 2nd (+8 points)
Feature Race: DNF

“I’m delighted to take my first points in Formula 2! It was a tricky start with no laps in Free Practice due to a technical issue, however, qualifying was amazing, finishing fourth. We had strong pace in the Sprint Race, but were taken out by another competitor when I was comfortably in the points. We got a bit unlucky with the Safety Car today, yet I felt comfortable throughout the weekend and battled to take fifth. A massive thanks to the team for all their hard work to ensure a great debut weekend for me in Formula 2, and we’ll aim for even more in Abu Dhabi.”

#8 Dino Beganovic

Qualifying: 4th
Sprint Race: 10th
Feature Race: 5th (+10 points)

Charles Pic, Team Owner

“We’re pleased to have had a strong event with Jak finishing on the podium in the Sprint Race and Dino taking points in the Feature Race. Firstly, Jak produced an excellent drive to battle through to secure a sixth podium of the campaign on Saturday, looking after his tyres well and taking second. Unfortunately, we had a slow pit stop and then he had to retire with the damage he picked up in the Feature Race. Dino was very impressive on debut to qualify fourth after no laps in Free Practice and then he looked quick throughout the weekend. He deserved the points he claimed on Sunday and without the Safety Car it might’ve been even better. We’ll now make sure that we end the 2024 season on a high in Abu Dhabi next weekend.”

How to Choose the Best New Toyota Dealership in San Antonio

When it comes to buying a new Toyota, selecting the right dealership is just as important as choosing the right model. A great dealership can make the car-buying process smoother, more enjoyable, and less stressful. In a city like San Antonio, where there are several Toyota dealerships to choose from, finding the right one can feel overwhelming. To help make your decision easier, here are some key factors to consider when choosing a new Toyota dealership in San Antonio.

Sales Experience and Customer Service

The sales experience plays a significant role in your overall satisfaction with the car-buying process. A reputable dealership will have knowledgeable and friendly salespeople who are ready to listen to your needs and guide you through the process without pressuring you into a decision.

When you visit a dealership, consider the following:

  • Are the sales staff friendly and approachable?
  • Do they take the time to understand your needs and preferences?
  • Are they transparent about pricing, financing options, and vehicle features?

Choosing a dealership where the staff takes the time to educate you about the vehicle and provides clear answers will make the buying process easier and more enjoyable.

After-Sales Support and Service

A dealership that offers excellent after-sales service is key to ensuring that your Toyota stays in top condition for years to come. Check to see if the dealership has an on-site service department that offers regular maintenance, repairs, and warranty services. A strong service department means you won’t have to go far for oil changes, tire rotations, or major repairs.

It’s also a good idea to look for dealerships that offer perks like free car washes, loaner vehicles, and express service lanes. A dealership with a reliable service department will ensure that you can maintain your Toyota with ease, keeping it running smoothly throughout its lifespan.

Convenience and Location

While San Antonio is a large city, choosing a new toyota dealership in san Antonio that’s convenient to your location can save you time and effort. Consider how far the dealership is from your home or workplace, especially if you need to return for future service appointments. Many dealerships offer online scheduling for both test drives and service appointments, which can add an extra layer of convenience.

Additionally, check the dealership’s hours of operation to ensure they align with your schedule. Some dealerships offer evening and weekend hours, making it easier to visit when it’s most convenient for you.

Promotions and Special Offers

Toyota dealerships often run special promotions, sales events, and discounts throughout the year. These can include seasonal discounts, military discounts, or promotions tied to new model releases. Keep an eye out for these deals, as they can provide substantial savings on a new Toyota.

It’s a good idea to ask the dealership about any current promotions or upcoming sales events, especially if you’re looking to purchase at a specific time of year.

Final Words

If you’re in the market for a dependable car in Abilene, visiting top-rated Abilene car dealerships is a must. With rigorous inspections, warranties, and high-quality standards, CPO vehicles provide excellent value for money. Here’s everything you need to know about certified pre-owned cars and why they’re a fantastic choice.

1. What Are Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles?

Certified pre-owned vehicles are used cars that have passed strict inspections and meet specific manufacturer criteria. They are reconditioned to ensure they’re in excellent condition and typically include warranties, making them a more reliable option compared to standard used cars.

2. Benefits of Certified Pre-Owned Cars

Choosing a CPO vehicle comes with several advantages:

  • Comprehensive Inspection: CPO vehicles undergo rigorous multi-point inspections for quality assurance.
  • Manufacturer Warranty: Most come with extended warranties, providing added protection.
  • Low Mileage: CPO cars usually have lower mileage than traditional used vehicles.
  • Additional Perks: Some programs offer free maintenance, roadside assistance, or vehicle history reports.

3. How Certified Pre-Owned Differs from Used Cars

While both are pre-owned, CPO vehicles offer added assurance. Unlike regular used cars, they are inspected, repaired, and certified by the manufacturer or dealership. This ensures they meet high standards for performance and safety, making them a more dependable option.

Abilene dealerships provide certified pre-owned vehicles from top brands, including:

  • Toyota Certified Used Vehicles: Known for durability, these vehicles undergo a 160-point inspection and include a powertrain warranty.
  • Ford Blue Advantage: Features a 172-point inspection and extended warranty coverage.
  • Chevrolet CPO Program: Offers a detailed inspection process, two factory-backed warranties, and roadside assistance.

5. Wide Selection of Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles

Abilene dealerships boast extensive inventories of CPO vehicles, including sedans, SUVs, trucks, and hybrids. Whether you’re seeking a family car or a powerful truck for work, you’ll find options that suit your needs and budget.

6. Comprehensive Inspection Process

CPO vehicles undergo a meticulous inspection process covering every aspect of the car, including:

  • Engine and transmission performance
  • Brake and tire condition
  • Electrical systems
  • Interior and exterior quality

This ensures you’re buying a vehicle in top-notch condition.

7. Financing Options for CPO Vehicles

Financing a certified pre-owned car is straightforward with flexible plans offered by Abilene dealerships. They work with a variety of lenders to help you secure favorable rates, regardless of your credit score, making CPO ownership accessible and stress-free.

8. Perfect for First-Time Buyers

Certified pre-owned vehicles are ideal for first-time buyers. They offer the affordability of used cars with the reliability of new ones, along with warranties and inspections for added confidence. This makes them an excellent choice for new drivers or those purchasing their first vehicle.

9. Trade-In Options for Easy Upgrades

Abilene dealerships make upgrading your car easier with trade-in programs. You can get a fair appraisal for your current vehicle and apply its value toward your certified pre-owned purchase, reducing your overall cost.

10. Experience the Vehicle with Test Drives

Before committing, take advantage of test drives offered by dealerships. This lets you evaluate the car’s comfort, performance, and features, ensuring it’s the right fit for your needs.

11. Warranty and Additional Coverage

One of the biggest advantages of CPO vehicles is the manufacturer-backed warranty. This covers essential components like the engine, transmission, and drivetrain. Many programs also offer additional coverage options for long-term peace of mind.

12. Shop Online with Ease

Abilene dealerships provide user-friendly websites where you can browse CPO inventories, compare prices, and even schedule test drives. This convenience makes the shopping process quicker and more efficient.
