What Texas Drivers Can Learn from Racing Safety About Preventing High-Speed Collisions

Professional racing exists inside a strict rulebook. Every driver on the track operates within speed protocols, safe following distances, flag systems, and incident response procedures designed specifically to prevent catastrophic crashes. Most road drivers never think about these rules. But the physics of a high-speed collision on I-10 or Loop 610 is not very different from a crash at Texas Motor Speedway.

Texas roads are among the most dangerous in the United States. According to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), there were 4,284 traffic fatalities in Texas in 2022, with speed being a contributing factor in a significant portion of those crashes.

After a serious crash on a Texas road, finding the best car crash lawyer Houston has to offer as early as possible can help protect your legal rights before insurance companies begin building their case against you.

Racing safety rules were not created overnight. They were built crash by crash, incident by incident.

Road drivers can learn from that history without having to repeat it.

Speed Differentials Kill More Than Raw Speed

In NASCAR, teams carefully monitor the speed differential between their car and others on the track. A driver going 10 mph faster than the car ahead does not just create a risk. It eliminates reaction time almost entirely.

The same principle applies on Texas freeways. A 2023 report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) found that speeding was a contributing factor in 29% of all traffic fatalities nationally, claiming 12,151 lives. The danger is rarely about absolute speed alone. It is about the gap between your speed and the vehicle in front of you.

Racing drivers are trained to manage these gaps constantly. Road drivers often ignore them entirely.

Practical takeaway for Texas drivers:

  1. Maintain at least a 3-second following distance at highway speeds.
  2. Increase that gap to 4-5 seconds in rain, construction zones, or low-visibility conditions.
  3. On Texas highways where speed limits reach 85 mph, even 3 seconds represents roughly 374 feet of stopping distance.

Situational Awareness Is a Skill, Not a Habit

NASCAR drivers scan the track constantly. They watch for debris, smoke, cars in their peripheral vision, and subtle changes in the behavior of vehicles around them. This is called situational awareness, and it is trained, not automatic.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) reports that driver distraction is involved in about 8-9% of fatal crashes, a figure that researchers widely acknowledge is undercounted because post-crash data collection rarely captures phone use reliably.

Most road drivers operate on autopilot once they merge onto a familiar stretch of highway. Racing teaches the opposite mindset. Every lap is treated as a new situation because conditions change and so do risks.

Texas has specific hazards that demand active attention:

  1. Large commercial vehicles entering from on-ramps on I-45 and I-69 corridors.
  2. Sudden speed drops in construction zones, which TxDOT designates throughout major Houston metro arteries year-round.
  3. Flood-prone underpasses during storm events, which can fill faster than drivers anticipate.

Passive driving in active hazard environments is where most preventable high-speed collisions begin.

The Pit Lane Mindset: Slowing Down Has a Purpose

Pit lane speed limits in racing exist for one reason. The area is full of crew members working at close range. The rulebook enforces a hard limit regardless of competitive pressure.

Texas has functional equivalents of pit lane: school zones, hospital access roads, work zones with reduced speed limits, and residential streets that feed onto high-volume corridors. The problem is that many drivers treat speed limit reductions as suggestions rather than rules tied to real safety logic.

TxDOT data shows that work zone crashes in Texas resulted in 193 fatalities in 2022. Most of those occurred not because of road conditions but because drivers failed to slow down in time.

Racing crews do not debate the pit lane speed limit. Road drivers should extend the same discipline to Texas’s equivalent zones.

Incident Response: What to Do in the Seconds After a High-Speed Crash

When an incident happens on a race track, the protocol is immediate and specific. Safety crews respond, drivers stay in the car unless fire presents, and the scene is controlled before anyone moves a vehicle.

Public road crashes rarely go this smoothly, especially at highway speeds. But the first actions after a Texas collision still follow a logic similar to racing incident response.

  1. Move the vehicle out of the active travel lane if it is safe and the car is drivable. Texas law requires this when damage allows.
  2. Activate hazard lights immediately. This alerts approaching drivers before they reach the scene.
  3. Call 911 before moving to document the incident with law enforcement.
  4. Photograph the scene, vehicle positions, skid marks, and road conditions before anything is disturbed.
  5. Do not discuss fault at the scene. Admissions made in the immediate aftermath of a crash can be used in later insurance disputes.

The documentation you collect in the first 20 minutes of a Texas crash often determines what compensation is recoverable. Insurance adjusters know this, and they respond fast. Crash victims frequently do not.

High-Speed Collisions Create Injuries That Do Not Always Show Immediately

Racing drivers wear HANS devices, helmets, and fire suits. They sit in roll cages engineered to absorb and redirect crash forces. Road drivers have seat belts and airbags, which are effective but do not eliminate the physical forces transmitted through the body in a high-speed crash.

Traumatic brain injuries, spinal compression fractures, internal bleeding, and soft tissue damage from high-speed collisions frequently produce delayed symptoms. A driver may walk away from a crash feeling functional, then develop debilitating symptoms over the following 48 to 72 hours.

Car accident lawyer believes that seeking medical evaluation immediately after any high-speed crash is not optional. For Texas personal injury claims, a gap in medical treatment within the days following a crash is one of the primary tools insurers use to minimize or deny compensation.

What Racing Teaches About Accountability

Racing has one principle that defines its entire safety culture. The person responsible for a collision is held accountable, regardless of the competitive pressure they were under.

Texas follows comparative fault rules, meaning fault in a crash is assigned by percentage. If another driver’s speeding, distraction, or failure to maintain lane caused your collision, their liability attaches even if you were also moving above posted limits. The investigation required to establish that liability requires evidence, witnesses, black box data where available, and often accident reconstruction.

Racing taught the world how to analyze crashes with precision. Texas crash victims deserve that same precision applied to their cases.

Watkins Glen shifts to September for 2027 NASCAR season

Photo by Patrick Sue-Chan for SpeedwayMedia.com.

Watkins Glen International is shifting its annual NASCAR race weekend festivities to September in 2027.

The announcement was made on May 7, 2026, by track president Dawn Burlew at an event that welcomes campers to Watkins Glen’s grounds. It also comes as NASCAR’s top three national touring series (Craftsman Truck, O’Reilly Auto Parts and Cup) prepare to compete at The Glen this upcoming weekend on May 8-10. The three series will compete alongside the ARCA Menards Series division, the latter of which competes on Friday, May 8, before the Truck event.

“People actually really liked that recognition for The Glen as well as all our fans that come here,” Burlew said. “So being in [The Chase] going forward, I think they’re going to be thrilled that we’re at the first part of that and really kind of set the stage for the rest of the playoff season. So again, if we can be part of that and kick it off, there’s no better place than to do it at The Glen.”

The 2027 season will mark the 44th time that NASCAR competes at Watkins Glen International. NASCAR first competed at The Glen in 1957. The track did not host NASCAR competition from 1958 to 1963. However, it returned on the schedule during back-to-back seasons in 1964 and 1965. During NASCAR’s first three competitions at The Glen, the racing events occurred on the course’s original configuration layout that spanned 2.3 miles.

Since 1986, after the track did not host NASCAR competition from 1966 to 1985, NASCAR has competed on The Glen’s 2.428-mile layout. It is a shortened and does not include the course’s “Boot” corner that excludes Turns 6 to 9. The lone season in which NASCAR did not compete at The Glen was 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Watkins Glen primarily hosted an annual NASCAR weekend within the month of August, including this past season, on August 8-10. It was a Playoff (“Chase”) event for the first and only time ever on September 15, 2024. Chris Buescher won the race following a late duel and last-lap overtake on Shane van Gisbergen.

Van Gisbergen is the defending Cup winner at The Glen. He became the 27th competitor to achieve the feat of winning on the course in NASCAR’s premier series. Van Gisbergen will attempt to become the seventh competitor ever to win consecutive Cup Series races at The Glen. The weekend’s festivities mark the earliest month in which NASCAR races at The Glen, as the events occur during the second weekend of May.

An exact date for Watkins Glen’s shift to September 2027 has not been revealed. However, the event will return as one of 10 races in the Chase. The only event officially confirmed for the 2027 season is the 69th running of the Daytona 500 on February 21.

This year’s events commence with the ARCA Menards Series’ General Tire 100 at The Glen. The ARCA race will begin Friday, May 8, at 1:30 p.m. ET on FS2, MRN Radio and SiriusXM. The Craftsman Truck Series’ Bully Hill Vineyards at The Glen follows suit at 4:30 p.m. ET on FS1, NASCAR Racing Network and SiriusXM.

The NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series’ Mission 200 at The Glen is scheduled for Saturday, May 9, at 4 p.m. ET on the CW Network, MRN and SiriusXM. The Cup Series caps off the weekend with the Go Bowling at The Glen on Sunday, May 10 at 3 p.m. ET on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM.

Forte Racing Heads to COTA Looking to Build on Strong Sebring Performance

Thienes and Kujala Return for Second Round of VPRC Endurance Challenge

Austin, Texas (Thursday, May 7, 2026) – Forte Racing returns to Circuit of The Americas (COTA) this weekend for the second round of the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge Airbnb Endurance Challenge, looking to build on a strong season-opening performance at Sebring International Raceway.

Brian Thienes and co-driver Patrick Kujala opened the endurance campaign with an impressive second-place overall finish in the No. 77 Thienes Engineering Ligier JS P325, with Thienes also capturing the Bronze Cup class victory. The result placed Thienes first in the Bronze Cup standings and second overall in the championship heading into the COTA weekend.

This weekend presents a new challenge for LMP3 competitors as teams take on the full 3.4-mile Grand Prix circuit and two-hour endurance format at Circuit of The Americas, a significant step up from the shorter sprint configuration used earlier in the season. Combined with warmer conditions and evolving race strategy requirements, the event will test both driver performance and team execution across the board.

With valuable data collected from Sebring and a productive two-day test at Circuit of The Americas, Forte Racing enters the weekend focused on refining performance and continuing its early-season momentum.

The pairing of Thienes and Kujala returns to the No. 77 entry with growing confidence, combining experience and momentum as they look to build on their Sebring result while adapting to the evolving demands of the endurance format.

“Looking forward to returning to Circuit of The Americas with Patrick Kujala to build on a good start of the year where we finished second at Sebring,” Thienes said. “I look forward to working with US RaceTronics, who always provides a well-prepared car, and driving a car engineered by one of the best engineers in the business, Pete Jacobs.”

Kujala, who quickly adapted to the new Ligier JS P325 platform at Sebring, continues to play a key role in the development of the car as the team builds its understanding of both the chassis and race strategy over longer formats.

“Excited to be racing together with Brian again!” Kujala said. “We learned a lot from the new car and collected valuable data, so we are better prepared coming into this race weekend.”

Behind the scenes, Forte Racing Technical Director Peter Jacobs said the team is well-positioned heading into the weekend following a productive test at COTA, which allowed the group to gather critical data ahead of the full Grand Prix circuit and endurance race format.

“COTA is one of the most technically demanding tracks, not only for the driver but for the team as well,” Jacobs said. “Thankfully, we were able to complete two solid days of testing, which provided ample data and driver time. Both Patrick and Brian displayed a high level of talent, and we’re now in a position to fine-tune the car heading into the race weekend.”

Team manager David Cozart echoed the team’s confidence heading into the weekend, noting the effort put in across testing, preparation, and continued development since the season opener.

“The whole team is excited for this weekend,” Cozart said. “We tested at this track a few weeks ago, and everyone has put in a lot of hours both on and off the track since then. Forte Racing is in a strong position to compete, and we look forward to a great weekend.”

Team owner Shane Seneviratne said the combination of early-season momentum and additional track time at COTA provides the team with a strong opportunity to continue progressing in the endurance program.

“Sebring was a great way to start the endurance season, especially considering how little time we had with the new car going into that weekend,” said Seneviratne. “Now, having completed a proper test at COTA and with a better understanding of both the car and the demands of the full circuit, we’re in a much stronger position heading into this race.

The endurance format adds another layer of strategy, and execution will be key. Brian and Patrick work extremely well together, and we’ve already seen what they’re capable of. The goal this weekend is to continue building, refine the car, and put ourselves in a position to fight at the front.”

Broadcast Information:

The VP Racing SportsCar Challenge Airbnb Endurance Challenge returns to Circuit of The Americas May 7-9 for the second of four two-hour endurance races in the 2026 season. The race on Saturday at 12:05 p.m. ET streams live on the IMSA Official YouTube channel.

Layne Riggs and the No. 34 team enter this weekend’s race at Watkins Glen International third in the driver standings for the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series. Riggs travels to New York with an advantage over the other series regulars in the field, holding a dominating win from the St. Petersburg Grand Prix. While this will only be Riggs’ second NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series start at the 2.45-mile, road course, he scored a 10th-place finish in his track debut in 2025.

Due to a NASCAR-issued missing lug nut penalty after the event at the Texas Motor Speedway last weekend, Competition Director Drew Blickensderfer will serve as crew chief on the No. 34 entry this weekend at Watkins Glen International, while Dylan Cappello serves a one-race suspension.

Love’s Travel Stops returns with Riggs and the No. 34 team for Friday’s race. “With the series going to more road/street courses, we have put a ton of emphasis on our road/street course program this year,” said Riggs. “It’s paid off for us so far, and I think we enter this weekend’s race in a really good spot to continue to stack up points. May is one of the longer months for us, in terms of the number of races, so it’s important to stay focused and not make mistakes. I know the Front Row team will give me fast trucks, it’s just a matter of executing and being there in the end.”

Friday’s event at Watkins Glen International will be Chandler Smith’s third NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series start at the track. In his two previous NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series starts at the road course, Smith has a career best finish of 23rd, coming in the 2025 race. In addition to his NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series starts, Smith has also made two appearances at the track in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series. His best finish came in 2024 while racing for Joe Gibbs Racing, starting the race in sixth and finishing in fourth. Following last Friday’s race at the Texas Motor Speedway, Smith has dropped to second in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series driver standings but is just 14 points behind leader Kaden Honeycutt.

Oswego County will join Smith and the No. 38 Ford F-150 team for the 72-lap event. Established in 1816 through an act of the New York State Legislature, Oswego County will now make their NASCAR debut with a dark blue “fish scheme”. Spanning 968 square miles, Oswego County is comprised of two cities, 10 villages and 22 towns, all of which is accessible from state and interstate highways, waterways and a municipal airport that sees over 25,000 take-offs and landings each year.

“I feel like our road course program is pretty solid,” said Smith. “We ran well at St. Pete, so I have high hopes for this weekend in Watkins Glen. We lost some points after Texas, but I have a good feeling we can get them back this weekend and regain the championship lead. It’s great to have Oswego County on board for this weekend. This team has a lot of luck when it comes to ‘fish trucks’ so hopefully this one is no different.”

NORTH WILKESBORO, N.C. (May 7, 2026) – North Wilkesboro Speedway is introducing a new premium hospitality area, 47 Reserve, for the July 19 Window World 450. Located just behind the grandstands, the special-event space features a rustic design that honors the venue’s history as one of NASCAR’s earliest tracks. North Wilkesboro Speedway first opened in 1947, and this summer’s race will mark the first NASCAR Cup Series points race in nearly 30 years.

Each 47 Reserve hospitality package includes a reserved table for eight guests; eight frontstretch grandstand tickets; eight pre-race track passes with stage-front access to the Sawyer Brown concert and driver introductions; four VIP parking passes and a limited-edition hat for each guest. The venue traces its roots to 1947, hosting stock car races before NASCAR was formally established in 1948. The speedway’s first NASCAR race followed in October 1949, won by Bob Flock.

Wilkes County, long known as the “Moonshine Capital of the World,” played a key role in the sport’s origins. Series: NASCAR Cup Series
Location: Watkins Glen International (2.45-miles)

Time/TV/Radio: 3:00PM ET on FS1/MRN/SiriusXM channel 90

FRM Points Standings:

Zane Smith (21st)
Todd Gilliland (25th)
Noah Gragson (31st)

Noah Gragson Notes

Noah Gragson and the No. 4 team will look to regain momentum as the NASCAR Cup Series heads north to Watkins Glen International for its yearly visit to the seven-turn road course located in the scenic Finger Lakes region of New York. It will mark Gragon’s third start in the NASCAR Cup Series at the venue, with a best finish of 11th in the 2024 event. Gragson started 35th and finished 21st last season. In three NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series starts at the track nicknamed “The Glen”, Gragson recorded a top-10 finish in each while driving for JR Motorsports, anchored by a fourth-place result in 2022.

The No. 4 is bringing some extra heat this weekend, as Long John Silver’s features it’s Frank’s RedHot Buffalo Sauce partnership on Gragson’s Ford Mustang Dark Horse for the 245-mile event. The addition of the Frank’s RedHot brand to the iconic Long John Silver’s car design will be used to showcase a variety of buffalo-flavored options being offered at Long John Silver’s locations for a limited time only. Using their notable slogan, customers at Long John Silver’s can choose to add Frank’s RedHot to their order and “put that $#!T” on their shrimp, chicken or cheese bites. Front Row Motorsports will also join Long John Silver’s in celebrating National Shrimp Day on race day in Watkins Glen, which occurs each year on May 10th to honor America’s favorite seafood and highlight the variety of ways shrimp can be prepared.

“We really need a solid, mistake-free run this weekend at Watkins Glen to make up for stumbling some towards the finish last week at Texas,” said Gragson. “I have a lot of fun on the road courses, but especially at Watkins Glen and it’s shown in past results. It’s a fast track, but also very technical in places. You have to make sure you’re putting your car in the right spots to stay out of trouble, even more so if weather becomes a factor. As long as we keep the fenders on it and stay focused on doing our jobs throughout the race, we should be able to come out with a strong finish.”

“I really enjoy road courses,” said Gilliland. “We have added more to the schedule over the years, so we have put more time into our road course program, and I feel like it’s in a good spot. I have a lot of confidence at these types of tracks, which is a refreshing feeling. We need to work on qualifying better, but I think we will have it figured out this weekend.”

The nostalgic Lucky Dog design carries a rich history in the NASCAR Cup Series and has been piloted by multiple race winners and championship contenders, making it one of the most recognizable and celebrated paint schemes in the sport.

“Road courses have always been my strong suit,” said Smith. “Outside of the superspeedways, I feel like places like Watkins Glen provide an opportunity for FRM’s cars to run up front. We struggled in Texas, but it’s a new weekend with new opportunities to move up in the standings.”

ARCA Champion Isaac Kitzmiller Targets Sixth Straight Top-10 in Watkins Glen Debut

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y.: With an off-weekend from his full-time ARCA Menards Series East campaign, reigning series champion Isaac Kitzmiller will join the national tour and make his road course debut at Watkins Glen International in Friday afternoon’s General Tire 100 at The Glen.

Focused on one day taking the reins from his father, Jason Kitzmiller, the younger Kitzmiller is using the opportunity to accelerate his development ahead of a planned full-time move to the ARCA Menards Series.

The event will mark his first experience turning both left and right in stock car competition — a meaningful step in broadening his skill set.

While the transition to a road course introduces a new set of challenges, Kitzmiller and the A.L.L. Construction Racing — CR7 Motorsports team view the weekend as a critical building block.

Known for his consistency and racecraft on ovals, the East Series champion now aims to apply those strengths to the heavy braking zones, elevation changes and technical corners that define the historic 2.45-mile layout in upstate New York.

The weekend represents more than just another start — it’s a benchmark. Against a deeper and more varied ARCA Menards Series field, Kitzmiller will gain valuable seat time in a discipline that continues to grow in importance across NASCAR’s national landscape.

With an eye firmly on the future, the added experience could prove pivotal as he prepares for the next phase of his career.

Surrounded by a team committed to his long-term growth, Kitzmiller approaches the General Tire 100 at The Glen with a balance of confidence and curiosity — focused on learning, adapting and continuing to build toward becoming a well-rounded contender wherever the schedule takes him next.

“I’m really looking forward to the opportunity at Watkins Glen International,” said Kitzmiller. “It’s going to be a big learning experience for me, just getting comfortable with the rhythm of a road course and understanding how these cars handle when you’re turning both directions.

“I know there’s going to be a lot to take in, but that’s what makes it exciting. We’ve got a great group with A.L.L. Construction Racing and CR7 Motorsports, and the goal is to keep improving every lap, make the most of the experience and put ourselves in a solid position by the end of the race.”

It’s been a strong 2026 campaign in ARCA Menards Series East competition for the 17-year-old phenom.

Through the opening three races, he has delivered three consecutive top-five finishes — already matching his total from his championship rookie season in 2025.

Fresh off a fifth-place finish last weekend in Nashville, Kitzmiller now returns to the premier ARCA Menards Series stage for his second national start of the year.

More notably, he carries momentum into Watkins Glen International with an opportunity to secure his sixth consecutive top-10 finish in just his sixth series start — a testament to both his consistency and rapid development at the national level.

“We’ve had a really solid start to the season, and I’m proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish as a team,” said Kitzmiller.

“To be able to put together consistent runs and stack top-fives and top-10s, especially across different types of tracks, says a lot about the group we have behind us.

“Heading into Watkins Glen International, the goal is to keep that momentum going. This is a completely new discipline for me, but at the same time, it’s another opportunity to prove we can adapt and stay competitive no matter where we race.

“If we can come out of here with a sixth straight top-10, that would mean a lot and just keep building toward what we’re trying to accomplish this year.”

Number six carries added meaning this weekend on the shores of Seneca Lake, as the Maysville, West Virginia native will also have the rare opportunity to compete alongside his father, Jason Kitzmiller, in a discipline far different from what the two are accustomed to.

Through the previous five races, the younger Kitzmiller has carried the banner in the friendly family rivalry, but with 100 miles on deck Friday afternoon, he knows this may present his toughest test yet, going head-to-head with his father on unfamiliar ground.

“It’s pretty special anytime you get to share the track with your dad,” sounded Kitzmiller. “We’ve had a little fun with it this year, and I’ve been able to stay ahead so far, but this weekend at Watkins Glen International feels like a whole different deal.

“This is new territory for both of us in a lot of ways, and I know he’s going to be just as competitive as ever. At the same time, it’s something I don’t take for granted — not everyone gets the chance to race head-to-head with their dad at a place like this. Hopefully we can both have a strong run, but I’m definitely going to do everything I can to make it six in a row.”

If tackling a new road course with seven turns isn’t enough to digest, the threat of possible inclement weather is also on the minds of teams and competitors. With the ARCA Menards Series accustomed to competing in the rain on road courses, a wet track at Watkins Glen International would only add another layer of complexity to the weekend.

Should Mother Nature intervene, Kitzmiller understands the importance of staying disciplined while embracing yet another new challenge with respect — balancing patience with progression as he continues to expand his skill set in unfamiliar conditions.

“If it rains, that just adds another element to it,” said Kitzmiller. “I’ve never raced in those conditions before, especially not on a road course, so there’s going to be a lot to learn really quickly.

“At the same time, everyone is dealing with the same track, so it comes down to staying smooth, being patient and not overdriving the car. If we can keep it on track, make smart decisions and keep improving, I think we can still have a solid day at Watkins Glen International no matter what the weather does.”

Like his father, the younger Kitzmiller and company welcome Carter Machinery, promoting the Caterpillar® (Cat®) brand as the primary partner aboard the No. 79 Chevrolet for Friday afternoon’s General Tire 100 at The Glen.

Carter Machinery’s humble beginnings date back to 1928, serving customers throughout Virginia and southeastern West Virginia. As customer needs evolved, the company expanded its offerings by adding new products, services, and locations, with significant growth following its 2020 acquisition of Alban Tractor Company.

Today, Carter Machinery’s footprint spans the Mid-Atlantic, with more than 30 locations across Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia.

The company sells, rents, and supports the full line of Cat® equipment, engines, and electric power generation systems, backed by strong parts availability, a diverse rental fleet, and an expert service team committed to customer success.

Continued investment in people, infrastructure, technology, and tooling has positioned Carter Machinery as one of Caterpillar’s premier dealers in North America and around the globe.

“Carter Machinery has been such an important partner for my family and our race team, and we’re really proud to represent them every time we hit the track,” said Kitzmiller.

“This weekend at Watkins Glen International is even more special because it feels like double the exposure for them — not only being part of a national series event, but also having both my dad and I out there carrying the same colors.

“That’s something pretty unique, and it gives Carter Machinery and A.L.L. Construction even more visibility throughout the weekend. They’ve built an incredible company with a strong reputation across the Mid-Atlantic, and for us, the goal is to keep putting together strong, consistent runs and hopefully give them a result they can be proud of.”

In addition to Carter Machinery, A.L.L. Construction Inc., Grant County Mulch, A&J Excavating, Cobra Mining, Champion Power Equipment and Volt Battery Technology will all serve as associate marketing partners on his No. 79 Chevrolet Friday afternoon.

Since 2025, Kitzmiller has made five ARCA Menards Series starts, earning one top-five and five top-10 finishes, including a career-best fourth-place finish at Dover Motor Speedway in July 2025.

The General Tire 100 at The Glen (41 laps | 100.45 miles) is the fifth of 20 races on the 2026 ARCA Menards Series schedule. Practice begins Friday, May 8, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., while group qualifying is slated to begin shortly thereafter at 10:30 a.m. The race is scheduled to take the green flag shortly after 1:30 p.m. ET. The continuation of the 74th season of ARCA competition will be televised live on FOX Sports 2 (FS2), with the Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM Satellite Radio handling the radio waves. ARCARacing.com will also stream live timing and scoring throughout the entire weekend festivities. All times are local (ET).

Kameron Marlowe Featured in 23XI ACM Awards Race Car Reveal

Huntersville, N.C. (May 7, 2026) – 23XI Racing announced today that the team will collaborate with The Academy of Country Music (ACM) to feature an ACM Awards design on Tyler Reddick’s No. 45 Toyota Camry XSE for the upcoming NASCAR Cup Series All-Star Race at Dover Motor Speedway on May 17. The $1 million-to-win race is one of the most anticipated events of the NASCAR season and occurs just before an exciting five-week stretch of racing begins airing on Prime Video, starting at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 24. Reddick is seeking to win his first All-Star Race while competing in a car that will highlight the 61st ACM Awards, which air on Prime Video on May 17 at 8 p.m. ET, shortly after the race.

The current NASCAR Cup Series points leader, Reddick, has had a blistering start to the 2026 season, winning the first three races, including the Daytona 500, and a total of five of the first 11 races. A 13-time Cup Series winner, Reddick is competing in his fifth career All-Star Race.

No. 45 Toyota Camry XSE

“With a family connection to Nashville and the country music industry, I’m really looking forward to racing the ACM Awards car in the All-Star Race,” said Reddick. “Showcasing one of music’s most respected award shows while I race for one of NASCAR’s most coveted trophies is a great fit.”

“From the track to the stage, we love this connection and partnership because it brings together two iconic brands in sports and music, known for uniting legends and rising stars, connecting fans and celebrating the next generation of icons in Country Music and NASCAR,” said Lauren Burchett, Head of Strategic Partnerships and Revenue at the Academy of Country Music. “There’s truly nothing better than bringing fans together through live experiences and authentic moments like this.”

In addition to showcasing the ACM Awards on track at the All-Star Race, 23XI will also be present at the awards show, held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The No. 45 ACM Awards-branded race car will be on display at “ACM’s Next Wave: Country’s Beach Bash” at Mandalay Bay Beach on Saturday, May 16 and 23XI development driver Corey Heim, who is competing in the No. 67 Toyota at select Cup Series races this season, will debut the official ACM Awards 23XI race car alongside Country powerhouse and Kannapolis, NC native Kameron Marlowe. The “Next Wave” event showcases numerous rising country stars who, like Heim, are on the verge of breakout performances. The event will be hosted by Ashley Cooke and Dasha, headlined by Keith Urban and will feature performances by Ashley Cooke, Dasha, Flatland Cavalry, Braxton Keith, Tucker Wetmore, and members of the Opry NextStage Class of 2026 – Willow Avalon, Graham Barham, Tyler Braden, Alexandra Kay, Vincent Mason, Emily Ann Roberts, and Hudson Westbrook.

“Growing up in Kannapolis, NC, the home of Dale, NASCAR has always been in my blood. I’m so honored to be a part of this opportunity,” Marlowe shared. “I know this is going to be an ACM Awards weekend to remember and I can’t wait to watch the All-Star Race!”

Heim, the 2025 NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Trucks Series champion, has built an impressive resume in just a few years of NASCAR racing, including the fourth-most career victories in the Truck Series. As he continues to hone his skills, Heim is scheduled to compete in 12 Cup Series races in 2026, including three of the five races airing on Prime Video.

“Since I’m not competing in the All-Star Race, I can’t think of a better place to be than at the ACM Awards,” said Heim. “I look forward to meeting up-and-coming artists and hearing how my path to the Cup Series mirrors their music careers. I know it’s not always an easy journey, and I’m excited to see the artists showcased throughout the weekend.”

Tickets for the 61st ACM Awards and ACM Awards week events are available for purchase on AXS.com, offering fans exclusive access to a nonstop weekend packed with performances from their favorite country stars.
