Larson finished third at Indy's road course after contact on the last restart shuffled him out of contention for the win.

The Los Gatos, California, native recorded the first NASCAR Cup Series victory for Kaulig Racing in the series' inaugural event at the Indianapolis Road Course.

NASCAR heads to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course this weekend where the Cup Series will make its first start Sunday afternoon. The road course is 2.439 miles with 14 turns and is the third new track that the Cup Series has debuted at this season.

NASCAR issued L1 penalties to the No. 9 team of Chase Elliott and the No. 48 team of Alex Bowman Thursday afternoon. It was determined that the teams had violated Section 20.6.1e in the NASCAR Rule Book.
