Clint Bowyer No. 2 Truck Series Advance: Phoenix International Raceway

BOWYER BACK FOR MORE: Clint Bowyer only made one start last season in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. The driver climbed behind the wheel of the No. 2 Chevrolet Silverado for the next to last event of the 2010 season at Phoenix International Raceway. He started from the third position and led 97 of 150 laps en route to victory lane. This weekend Bowyer returns to pilot the No. 2 Tide/Kroger Chevrolet for KHI and hopes to capture his third career Truck Series win.

TRUCK SERIES SUCCESS: The KHI Truck Series teams are no strangers to victory lane at Phoenix. Bowyer’s win last November delivered the team’s third consecutive and fifth total Truck Series win at the 1.0-mile racetrack.

FAMILIAR COLORS ON BOARD: The No. 2 KHI Chevrolet Silverado will sport familiar colors this weekend with a bright orange and blue paint scheme. With retail partner Kroger and sponsorship partner Procter & Gamble, the No. 2 truck will highlight Tide which is part of their family of brands. Both Kroger and Tide might just be somewhat of good luck charms for the No. 2 Truck Series team. KHI co-owner Kevin Harvick took the No. 2 Chevrolet to victory lane at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway last March with Tide on the hood. Bowyer captured the win at Phoenix in November with Kroger as the primary sponsor.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY: Phoenix International Raceway is a part of KHI’s young history as the organization captured its first win at the desert track. KHI co-owner Kevin Harvick brought home the first win for the team at PIR in the Truck Series event in 2002. Harvick narrowly beat series veteran Ted Musgrave for the victory and became only the fifth driver in history to win a race in all three of NASCAR’s national racing series.

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 2 Tide/Kroger team will utilize chassis No. 050 this weekend at Phoenix International Raceway. This is the same chassis that Bowyer took to victory lane at the track in November last season.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: With Elliott Sadler behind the wheel of the No. 2 Chevrolet Silverado, the team captured a close runner-up finish in the season opening event at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway last Friday night. Sadler started the event from the sixth position and led 31 of the scheduled 100 laps on his way to the second-place finish.

BOWYER’S THOUGHTS ON PHOENIX:

What are your thoughts going into the race at Phoenix this weekend?

“I only made one start in the Truck Series last season and I went right to victory lane. Kevin and DeLana have proven to be so successful in that series and it’s really fun for me to be able to drive one of their trucks. Phoenix is an awesome one-mile race track. I really look forward to heading out there and looking forward to making it back to victory lane this weekend.”
