CAN ‘SMOKE’ MAKE IT TWO IN A ROW?

~ Auto Club Speedway hosts 5-wide racing at Auto Club 400 ~

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif. (March 22, 2011) – Just five short months ago, Tony Stewart held off Clint Bowyer and Jimmie Johnson for his first Auto Club Speedway win and his 39th career Sprint Cup victory in what many have hailed as the “best race ever” at ACS.

Forward fast to 2011. Does Stewart, who’s slate so far this young year include a 13-place finish in the season-opening Daytona 500; 7th in Phoenix, 2nd in Vegas and 19th in Bristol, have what it takes to win two in a row at Auto Club Speedway when the Auto Club 400 rolls into Southern California on March 27?

Last year’s .466-second victory made a successful weekend even more special as Haas Automation, which Stewart-Hass Racing co-owner Gene Haas founded, is located just 108 miles northwest of Auto Club Speedway in Oxnard.

“To finally win here for Gene and Margaret Haas at their home track is special,” Stewart said. “Man, I’m just glad to finally win one at California. I can knock this off the list of tracks I haven’t won at now.”

Said Bowyer after crossing the finish line 0.466 seconds behind Stewart: “They say you’re only as good as your last race. Well, for this place, that was a heck of a race.”

Tickets to the Auto Club 400 on Sunday, March 27 start as low as $35 and AAA members receive Show Your Card & Save discounts, including a special section with half-priced tickets for kids 12 and under.
