ON COMING TO RICHMOND THIS WEEKEND WITH GOOD MOMENTUM

“It’s just important to keep the momentum going that we have. I like the direction is headed. It’s fun coming to the race track with everybody smiling and everybody joking with one another. It’s usually a good sign that things are going good; and they have been. It was a fun off-weekend we all enjoyed. But, you know, you’re worried; you’re like man, I wish we could just keep going and wait until we’re running bad and then have an off-weekend (laughs) so you have some time to re-group. But it’s a good race track here in Richmond. Our car is fast again, the BB&T Chevrolet. It’s fun to have those folks on board and be at such a neat race track.”

WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE LIST OF WINNERS AT THIS TRACK, WHY DO THE BEST DRIVERS SEEM TO ALWAYS WIN AT RICHMOND?

“Well, I think it’s a very demanding race track, first and foremost. You have to drive very aggressively. It’s one of those tracks where the driver can really make the difference. I’m not saying that’s not the case everywhere; but on some of these bigger race tracks, if you’re equipment is not there, you’re not going to win the race. You can have the best driver in the world and if his car is not capable of getting the job done, he’s not going to get the job done. This is a place where you can truly make up the difference and get up on the wheel, and like I said, make the difference.

“It’s a fun race track. You’ve got to be able to come here and have fun. You’ve got to be able to be smart about your handling of the car and keep up with the race track. It’s a big thing here. It seems to change so much throughout the course of the weekend and throughout the race itself and you’ve got to be able to be conscious of that throughout the race and keep up with it.”

HOW WAS YOUR HOUR ON TWITTER THE OTHER NIGHT? YOUR WIN HERE, CAN YOU TAKE US THROUGH WHAT YOU WERE THINKING DURING THOSE FINAL LAPS? THAT WAS SUCH A CRAZY ENDING:

“It was. First of all, that win was probably the most fun I’ve ever had in Victory Lane because it was a surprise, you know? We had a fast car all day long and we put ourselves up there and put ourselves in position. That’s what you have to do. But nonetheless, the right circumstances played out and we were able to win the race. There was so much! You couldn’t help but to laugh about it, you know? I could kind of see it coming, and I knew that I needed to put myself in position and then it happened, and it was like, oh my God. I could see it coming. It happened! It was just an incredible feeling and an incredible win for us. To put BB&T in Victory Lane and everybody, I’ll never forget that day. It was a pretty wild and exciting time. I was actually worried about Kyle Busch (laughs). I didn’t know how I was going to get him out of here.

“And the Twitter thing? What a joke! Oh, my. I was involved in a Twitter party. Did I host the Twitter party? I attended a Twitter party. I don’t know why we just didn’t get on the phone and talk to each other (laughter).

Ask him this question and then type this answer and then see what he thinks about this and they said this and type that. It was a mess. I was mad (at his PR representative); and I’m still upset with him that he made me even participate in such a goofy thing. I’d better not say any more.”

(INAUDIBLE)

“No, that was him. I was just kind of telling him what I thought and he was asking me questions and I would relay to him and then I’d have to wait 45 minutes for him to type it and get back to me. We should have just picked up the phone and we’d of had it done. I’ve heard you (media person) are a big Twitter fan, by the way.”

(INAUDIBLE)

“I can’t. Twitter would get me in trouble. I’d be out of a job in no time.”
