Race: Lucas Oil 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series: 6 of 25 Track: Dover International Speedway Date: May 13, 2011
Johanna Long and the Panhandle Motorsports team will head north to Dover International Speedway for the Lucas Oil 200 on Friday, May 13. The race will begin at 4:45 pm EST and be televised on Speed beginning at 8:30 pm EST.
First Trip to Dover – This will be Long’s first trip to Dover and her first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) start at the Monster Mile.
Teaming Up with Johnny Benson – Former NCWTS championship driver Johnny Benson has signed on with Panhandle Motorsports to help the team at Dover as well as Charlotte Motor Speedway later this month. He will assist the team and act as a driver coach for 18-year-old Long.
Staying Busy – The young driver has kept busy since the last NCWTS race at Nashville Superspeedway on April 22. In addition to preparing for her high school graduation and upcoming move to Charlotte, N.C., Johanna also recently attended her senior prom and her older sister’s college graduation. Johanna Long on Dover – “This is my first time going to Dover, so I am excited to get up there and see what we can do. I am really glad Johnny Benson is on board to help us out. He and my crew chief almost won the race last year, before they ran out of fuel, so I think the combination of having them both there is really going to help our team and myself.” About Johanna Long: At 18 years old, Johanna Long is the youngest driver in the elite NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. After making several starts in the NCWTS in 2010, Long plans to run the complete schedule in 2011 for family-owned Panhandle Motorsports. She began racing at the age of eight, quickly moving from go-karts to Legends cars to a Late Model. She made history, becoming the youngest driver and only female to win a track championship at Five Flags Speedway. She went on to win the prestigious Snowball Derby at the track in 2010.
