Roush Fenway Ready for Right Turns Across the Country
This weekend Roush Fenway and NASCAR take their first ‘right-turns’ of the season with road course action split across the country. The Sprint Cup series will travel to the wine country of northern California for a showdown at Infineon Raceway, while the Nationwide Series heads to Road America in Wisconsin.
Roush Fenway’s Road Racing History
Roush Fenway has made 236 road course starts in combined NASCAR action, having collected 12 wins and almost 100 top 10s. Roush Fenway boasts four wins in the Sprint Cup series at the road courses and two victories in the NNS. Roush Fenway won three straight Cup races on the road course at Watkins Glen from 1993-95. All-in-all, five different drivers have won NASCAR road races for Roush Fenway.
Roush Fenway at Infineon Raceway
Roush Fenway has one win at Infineon Raceway in Cup racing, via Mark Martin’s 1997 win at the track. They also have one win at Infineon in the truck series, with Joe Ruttman doing the honors in the same season.
On the Roster
Greg Biffle and Carl Edwards each have won on road courses in NASCAR action. Biffle has wins at Portland (1999) and Watkins Glen (2000) in the truck series, while Edwards has two wins in Nationwide, including last year’s inaugural race at Road America and two years ago in Montreal.
The Big Double
Carl Edwards will again pull double duty this weekend, splitting time between Road America and Infineon Raceway, while competing in both series. This week’s trip will be the most extensive double duty of the season with Road America (in Elkhart Lake, Wis.) located 2,180 miles from Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif. Edwards is running full-time in each division.
Last week…
Roush Fenway dominated the weekend at Michigan, winning the Nationwide race on Saturday, reclaiming the NNS point lead and leading over half of the Sprint Cup race on Sunday. For the weekend Roush Feneway led 216 laps, with six cars leading in two races.
In the Lead
Roush Fenway once again leads both of NASCAR’s top two divisions, with Ricky Stenhouse Jr., leading the points in the Nationwide Series and Carl Edwards on top in the Sprint Cup Series. In addition, Roush Fenway’s No. 60 Ford Mustang sits atop the owner standing in the NNS.
