This Week’s Barberitos Tundra … John Wes Townley will pilot RAB Racing Chassis No. 49 in Friday’s Lucas Oil 200 at Dover International Speedway. Purchased from Randy Moss Motorsports, this Toyota Tundra was updated to RAB Racing specifications over the offseason and will be put through its first paces in its current configuration at Dover.
Townley at Dover … While Townley has not yet raced at Dover International Speedway in Camping World Truck Series competition, he has raced there before. In three NASCAR Nationwide Series starts at the one-mile oval, Townley posted a career-best finish of 18th in 2009’s Dover 200.
RAB at Dover … In addition to Townley’s three starts at the Delaware track, RAB Racing with Brack Maggard fielded four additional Nationwide Series entries from 2010 to 2011 with drivers Chad McCumbee, Kelly Bires, and Kenny Wallace. The team’s best showing at the one-mile oval is a seventh-place finish, which was posted by Wallace last May.
Double-Duty … In addition to his driving duties in Friday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race, Townley will drive the No. 99 Barberitos Southwestern Grille Toyota Camry in Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race. Live coverage of the event begins Saturday, June 2 at 1:30 p.m. EDT. The race will be televised live on ESPN and broadcast worldwide on the Motor Racing Network and Sirius XM Satellite Radio.
After Five Races… Over the first five NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races of the 2012 season, Townley has accumulated two top-20 finishes, an average starting position of 22.5 and an average finish of 18.8. The Watkinsville, Ga. native has completed 99.2 percent of the laps he’s contested (745 of 751) thus far.
With his 16th-place finish at Charlotte Motor Speedway when the series last raced two weeks ago, Townley advanced three positions, to 21st, in the driver point standings.
RAB Racing in 2012… With five races completed in the 2012 season, RAB Racing’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series entries have recorded one top-five and three top-20 finishes with drivers Travis Kvapil and Townley.
