Dover International Speedway – Lucas Oil 200

THE ONION HOPES TO SLAY THE MONSTER: Todd Bodine is on a top five streak in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, having collected consecutive top-five finishes at Kansas Speedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway. The Onion hopes to accomplish something at Dover he’s never done in his Truck Series career by adding a Lucas Oil 200 Monster trophy to his three NASCAR Nationwide Series trophies. Bodine is no stranger to slaying Miles the Monster, having visited victory lane in the spring of 1991 and swept both events in 1993. In seven Truck Series starts, the veteran driver has notched two top five and two top-10 finishes, with a best finishing spot of third coming in 2006. The Onion also has seven top five and 10 top-10 finishes in the series. Additionally, he has 13 Sprint Cup Series starts at the Monster Mile.

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 11 team will unload Chassis No. 003 this Friday afternoon at Dover. This chassis was last utilized earlier this season at Martinsville Speedway where Bodine qualified 13th and finished 25th after cutting down a right front tire late in the race. Previously, this chassis was driven by Timothy Peters last season at Michigan International Speedway where he started 12th and brought home a second-place finish.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Bodine and the No. 11 Toyota Care Tundra were strong from the drop of the green flag at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 18. Bodine qualified for the 134-lap event in 17th position and brought home his best finish of the 2012 season coming across the checkered in third place. This marks Bodine’s second top-five finish of the season catapulting him up two positions, into the top-10 in the Truck Series point standings.

Todd Bodine talks about Dover International Speedway:

What do you like about racing at Dover?

“Dover is one of my favorite race tracks. It has always suited my style of racing. You have to drive hard to get up on the wheel but you can’t overdrive it either, which is really easy to do. That’s my style. I’ve had a lot of success at Dover with three Nationwide wins. I’ve always had good runs in Trucks and Cup; I just haven’t gotten to victory lane.”

You’re coming off your second top-five finish this season. What gains have you and the No. 11 crew made over the past couple races?

“We are finally getting the finishes we should be getting. From the beginning of the season, we expect to run in the top five every week and be in contention to win races. Unfortunately, we have had some bad luck that prevented that. Hopefully that back luck is gone and out of the way so we can go and do what we should be doing every week.”
