Sam Hornish Jr. (No. 12 Alliance Truck Parts Dodge Challenger R/T) Finished Eighth “We had a good car throughout the race but for some reason, I got talked into pitting early on the final stop. We were on the same sequence that (Elliott) Sadler was on and we had the better car. They did the right strategy. We didn’t. When you have a plan, you need to stick with it, not go do something else.”

Chad Walter (Crew Chief, No. 12 Alliance Truck Parts Dodge Challenger) “At the end of the day, we did it (pit) a little out of sequence. The decision was to get an adjustment in the car and get ahead of the track. The sun popped out and the track started changing. Everybody had to pit again. The stop during the caution before (fourth caution on Lap 169) allowed us to run a little deeper into the run before making a final stop. I jumped to the conclusion if we pitted a little bit sooner, even though we had fuel to go much further, we could make up some track position. Low and behold, the caution came out. We ran no worse than third the first 160 laps. Sometimes you take chances and they work out. Sometimes you take chances and they don’t. This was probably more of a gamble than I needed to take. I tried to get ahead and it didn’t work out. I’m proud of Sam. He drove his heart out. The car was really good. The Alliance crew does a good job putting these Dodges together. They’re always capable of running up front. The crew chief needs to go and do a little homework this week.”

Parker Kligerman (No. 22 Discount Tire Dodge Challenger R/T) Finished Seventh “Everybody on this 22 Discount Tire Dodge Challenger did a great job. Jeremy (Bullins, crew chief) called a great race. The pit crew was excellent; we didn’t make a mistake on pit road. It seemed like everything was clicking. We were running second, came in for a green flag stop and before the pit cycle was over the caution came out. That threw a wrench in everything. On those restarts, you have to make time on the high side. We were not that good up there. The reason we were so good was we were the only car on the bottom. On the restart with about 30 to go, we restarted 11th and the 6 (Ricky Stenhouse Jr.) was 10th. I tried to keep up with the 6 but he had been running the top all day. We just didn’t have anything for them on top. Was sixth for that last restart but got swamped being on top. It’s disappointing. Hopefully, I’ll get another shot in this car. If not, it’s been a pleasure and honor.”
