Martinsville Speedway Advance | Kroger 200

One in the Win Column: On the heels of his first career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series victory at Talladega Superspeedway two weeks ago, Parker Kligerman travels to Martinsville Speedway this Saturday with his No. 7 Red Horse Racing Toyota team for the Kroger 200. Entering the Virginia short track as the most recent series winner, Kligerman will have a little extra momentum on his side.

“I’ve always considered myself to be 100% focused no matter what, but anytime you can go out there and win and walk into the race track the next week as the most recent winner, it always gives you a little more pep in your step and a little more confidence. I think going in there with that and the confidence I have in these Toyota Tundras, I think there’s no reason we can’t go there and run up front, challenge for the victory and gain points on our championship rivals,” Kligerman explained.

Kligerman’s most recent appearance at Martinsville Speedway earlier this season produced his best finish at the track to date, as he was scored in 11th place when he crossed the finish line. Though his finishes don’t show for it, Kligerman reports he is happy with his previous performances and is optimistic about this weekend’s events.

“I’m looking forward to Martinsville; I’ve always had a great time there even though I haven’t had the finishes to show for it. I’ve always had the speed and ran well there, so with the success I’ve had at Red Horse and these Toyota Tundras, I’m sure we can improve on that this weekend.”

Home State Crew: Mark Schmuck, lead mechanic and fuel man for the No. 7 Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra team for driver Parker Kligerman, has been a part of Red Horse Racing since the summer of 2009. A Virginia Beach, Virginia native, Schmuck began his career in motorsports racing at Langley Speedway, and worked with former NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Mike McGlaughlin.

Previous Race Recap: NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start number 300 for Red Horse Racing was the charm for driver Parker Kligerman and the No. 7 Toyota Tundra team at Talladega Superspeedway on Saturday, October 6, 2012. Rebounding from an unscheduled pit stop to replace a faulty battery with less than 20 laps to go, Kligerman made a power move to charge back to the front with just a few short laps remaining to capture his first career series win in the fred’s 250 powered by Coca-Cola.

Chassis History: Parker Kligerman will pilot Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra chassis 002 at Martinsville Speedway on Saturday. This specific chassis was built in-house for short track racing and made its last appearance with Kligerman’s teammate Todd Bodine at Iowa Speedway, where Bodine claimed a third place finish.

Describe your racing experiences at Martinsville.

“Martinsville is definitely a track that brings us back to the old days of NASCAR; lots of beating, banging and leaning on each other. The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series always puts on a good race there and I enjoy going there because of that. It’s a place that really puts emphasis on the driver and the team to find a truck that can turn in the center really well, while having the drive off the corner.”

Do you think Martinsville is one of the best places for fans to watch NASCAR?

“The great thing about NASCAR is that you race at all different types of tracks and every place has something a little different to offer. I think the old fashioned, beating and banging short track racing that happens at Martinsville is the kind of racing that a lot of our fans look forward to, both young and old. I know as drivers we look forward to it, getting some aggression out every once in a while. So overall, I think it’s a great place for drivers, fans and teams.”
