No. 9 AM FM-Energy/ARMOUR Foods Chevrolet Silverado

Fast and Fun Facts…

Ron Hornaday competed in the inaugural NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) event at Martinsville Speedway on September 25, 1995 Hornaday is the only active NCWTS driver who has run in every NCWTS race at the half-mile Virginia track

Let Experience Prevail… Hornaday has raced at 45 different tracks in the NCWTS. Of those tracks, the 54-year-old Truck Series veteran has made the most starts at Martinsville Speedway logging 20 starts and 4413 laps (2,321.2 miles)

ARMOUR Strong… The last time Hornaday teamed up with ARMOUR Foods, the four-time champion went to victory lane at Atlanta Motor Speedway (2011). Hornaday hopes to keep that tradition alive at Martinsville Speedway this weekend and earn his first win of 2012 with Joe Denette Motorsports (JDM)

Success at the Paperclip… Often referred to as ‘The Paperclip’ due to its half-mile formation with tight turns and long straightaways, Martinsville Speedway is one of the most unique tracks on the NCWTS circuit. Hornaday has led 311 laps at the speedway en route to one win (October 2008) and one pole award (October 2010) as well as 10 top-five and 13 top-10 finishes in 20 starts at the Virginia half-mile. Hornaday boasts an average start of 7.8 coupled with an average finish of 9.2 and has completed 96.5 percent of laps attempted (4413 of 4574).

In The Loop… According to NASCAR’s loop data statistics, Hornaday has the following stats at Martinsville:

A driver rating of 110.0, ranking him third overall Fourth in average running position with an average finish of 7.7 Second in fastest laps run with 247 First in laps in top-15 with 2880 Third in green-flag passes with 366 Third overall in laps led with 307

Chassis History…

The No. 9 JDM team will unload chassis No. 8 in this weekend’s Kroger 200 at Martinsville Speedway. This is the same Chevrolet Silverado that Hornaday piloted to a 16th-place finish after starting fifth in the spring at Martinsville Speedway.

Get to the Point… Following a disappointing 28th-place finish in the last NCWTS event at Talladega Superspeedway, Hornaday fell one position from 12th to 13th in the 2012 NCWTS driver point standings heading into this weekend’s race. Hornaday is 29 points out of the top-10 and 169 points behind leader, Ty Dillon.

A Penny For Your Thoughts…

“Martinsville is always a fun place to race. We race in such close quarters at high speeds, and when you get 35 other trucks on the track, it’s a recipe for great racing. The keys to success at Martinsville are having a good truck and patience. If you have a good truck you can focus on the bigger picture and your patience doesn’t seem to wear as thin.”

“We had a pretty decent run going in the spring until we had battery problems mid-way through the race. Our short-track program has been pretty decent this year so I’m looking forward to a great run this weekend. It would mean so much to me and this team to get Joe his first win in the series in his home state of Virginia.”
