AVONDALE, AZ (November 12, 2012) – The last month of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series has been a challenging one that has been plagued by bad breaks for Jason White and his No. 23 Ford. With only two races remaining in the 2012 season, Jason looked to change his fortunes as the series visited the newly re-paved Phoenix International Raceway. His hopes were dashed with an early race incident coming off Turn Four which hampered the No. 23 GunBroker.com / Grime Boss Ford F-150 and ultimately resulted in a 21st place finish in the running of the Lucas Oil 150.
With much anticipation, White started the 150-lap event on the newly re-paved track from the 26th position as a result of his qualifying effort earlier in the day. Jason would slowly move his way through the field and an early race pit stop allowed for a minor adjustment, which made the No. 23 Ford the best it had been all weekend. Unfortunately, Jason would lose control of his truck coming off Turn Four on lap 48 which resulted in contact with a fellow competitor and significant damage to the front end of the No. 23 GunBroker.com / Grime Boss Ford. With the damage, Jason and his GB Racing team fought for all they could get before being forced to retire to the garage with a mere 10 laps remaining. The end result was a disappointing 21st place finish.
“I am not sure what really happened there coming off Turn Four – the truck just jumped side-ways on me,” stated White. “Doug George and the guys made a great adjustment on that first pit stop and our truck was really good on that run right before that restart. So I was really surprised when we got back to racing after a short caution and the truck stepped out on me. I tried to save it but got into another truck and really tore up the nose of our truck. I hate it for this entire team as they worked hard and we had a truck that was really good at that point and was moving up through the field. ”
The 21st-place finish kept White in the 11th position in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series drivers’ standings – now 21 points out of the tenth position.
“The last month here has really been hard for us as we have been bitten by bad luck of all sorts,” added Jason. “But this team has been resilient all year and continues to battle through all of it. We have one more race and I am focused on finishing strong for myself, the guys on this team and our sponsors.”
Jason and his GunBroker.com/Grime Boss team return to action this Friday night, November 16th as the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series ends the 2012 at Homestead-Miami Speedway with the running of the Ford EcoBoost 200.
