Homestead-Miami Speedway Advance | Ford EcoBoost 200

The Finale: The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series 2012 season will come to a close this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway with the Ford EcoBoost 200. For Timothy Peters and the No. 17 Red Horse Racing Toyota team, Friday night’s main event will be their last shot to overcome an 11 point deficit and take over the championship lead. Momentum will be on their side with a fourth place finish last weekend, and a fast, newly built Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra chassis prepared for battle. Peters has his strategy laid out as well, and knows his team will stop at nothing to get their Tundra into victory lane and do all they can to capture the championship trophy in the process.

“We’re focusing on nothing but a win. We know that we have to be aggressive to get out there and have a shot at this championship, so there’s nothing we can do but focus on winning. Before Phoenix, mathematically we were in, but we needed a legitimate shot heading into this weekend. My crew chief, Butch Hylton, made a great call during the race at Phoenix to get us a good finish and now we have a shot going into Homestead and that’s all we can ask for. We’ve got a shot,” Peters explained.

Year in Review: Closing out what has been his most successful NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season thus far in his career, Timothy Peters enters the 2012 season finale this weekend in a heated battle for the series championship. Only 11 points out of the lead, Peters has a legitimate shot at capping off what he describes as a dream season with his first championship. Scoring two victories and nine top-five finishes in the first 21 races, the most he’s scored in one season thus far in his career, Peters is pleased with his team’s performance and thankful to the entire Red Horse Racing organization for giving him the opportunities he’s had this season.

“This year really has been a dream for me so far, and no matter what happens, I’m really proud of this entire Red Horse Racing team and happy with what we’ve been able to accomplish,” Peters explained. “These guys have stood behind me through everything, helped me get two wins and provided me with an opportunity to race for this championship, and that’s all I can ask for. We’re confident and we’ve made big strides from where we were a year ago. That’s encouraging in itself and we look at it as the best chance we’ve had to be the ones hoisting that trophy up at Homestead.”

Previous Race Recap:Timothy Peters and the No. 17 Red Horse Racing team traveled to Phoenix International Raceway on Friday night for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Lucas Oil 150 looking to improve on their previous record at the 1-mile oval. Fighting for a shot at the championship heading into the final two races of the season, Peters and his crew utilized strategy to avoid all nine cautions during the evening and came home with a fourth place finish.

Chassis History: Timothy Peters will be behind the wheel of Red Horse Racing chassis 093 this weekend, one of his favorite Toyota Tundras. Crew chief Butch Hylton and the No. 17 team have turned around this particular Tundra from its fourth place finish last weekend at Phoenix for competition at Homestead. This Tundra also has two wins already this season at Iowa and Bristol.

What do you like about racing at Homestead?

“I like a track like Homestead that is abrasive and puts the race back in the driver’s hands. I have a good history there. Plus, being in the mix of this championship battle in our Tundra, I’m looking forward to getting down there and hopefully showing them who’s boss.”
