Jamie McMurray and No. 1 Bass Pro Shops/Tracker Boats Team

McMurray at Homestead-Miami: In McMurray’s Sprint Cup career, he has made 10 starts at Homestead-Miami Speedway. In those races, he has scored one top-five, and three top-10 finishes, and has an average start of 15.5. He has one pole award at the speedway in 2003. He has completed 2,655 laps (99.3%) of a possible 2,675 laps run at the track. McMurray has been running at the finish in nine of his ten races. His best career finish came in the 2008 season finale where he finished third.

Phoenix Recap: The Bass Pro Shops team started 18th on the one-mile tri-oval race track and would immediately battle with the balance of the No. 1 Chevrolet. The crew worked hard to improve the drivability of the Bass Pro Shops car, but the long, green flag runs during the middle of the race didn’t allow adequate time for major adjustments. In the closing laps, McMurray dodged multiple incidents of on-track melee and brought the No. 1 Bass Pro Shops/Allstate Chevrolet to the checkered flag for a 23rd-place finish.

Going to Bass Pro: Be sure to stop by the Miami Bass Pro Shops store before you head to the race track this weekend. Designed with a sunken motif, the Miami location features a 19,000 gallon super aquarium packed to the gills with native salt water species. Bass Pro Shops is located at 11551 Northwest 12th Street Miami, FL 33172

Hot Rods and Reels: Jamie McMurray will participate in the Hot Rods and Reels Fishing Tournament on Saturday morning on the infield lake at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The tournament is a fundraiser for the Darrell Gwynn Foundation to support their mission to provide for people with paralysis and prevent spinal cord injuries. The foundation’s primary support program is its national Wheelchair Donation Program. With this program the Darrell Gwynn Foundation has donated custom built wheelchairs to hundreds of individuals in need.

Juan Pablo Montoya and No. 42 Target Team

Home Sweet Home: Juan Pablo Montoya will return home to close out the 2012 season this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Not only do the Montoya’s call Miami home, this weekend’s start will mark six years since Montoya climbed behind the wheel of a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car. In his inaugural race, Montoya started 27th and finished 31st.

Homestead History: Montoya has made six starts at Homestead-Miami Speedway during his Sprint Cup Career. He has completed 94.3% of the laps run (1,512 of 1,603) at Homestead since his first start. His best start came in the 2008 season finale where he started 11th, and best finish came in 2007 where he finished 15th.

About Phoenix: The AdvoCare 500 proved to be an exciting race on and off the track over the weekend. Race fans saw eight caution flags and some retaliation between drivers as the Chase competition heated up. Juan Pablo Montoya started midfield and quickly played on pit strategy making two-tire stops in the opening laps of the race. The No. 42 Target Chevrolet ran as high as third and was displayed within the top-15 for the majority of the race. In the closing laps, Montoya was able to avoid multiple late race accidents and bring the Target Chevrolet home in a solid 12th-place finish.

Milestone Six Year: This weekend, Montoya has approached his sixth full year in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS). To date, Montoya has 216 starts, racked up two wins (Sonoma 2007 and Watkins Glen 2010), 20 top-fives, 51 top-10s and nine poles.
