MB Motorsports Returns For Scott Stenzel’s First Series Start At Daytona

PrintMB Motorsports, one of the original NASCAR Camping World Truck Series’ teams, is set to return to Daytona International Speedway with Scott Stenzel behind the wheel of the #63 Yellow Stripes: Making The Driver / Mittler Brothers Machine Tool Ford.  Stenzel will be looking to make his first series start at Daytona, although he successfully ran the 2011 ARCA race at the famed speedway.

After having run two races with MB Motorsports last season, Stenzel is looking to build on the relationship.  “Last year we were able to run Kansas and Texas together.  I think what we learned a lot about each other, how we communicate and we will use that to our advantage at Daytona.”

“We had a couple pretty good runs together last season,” says team owner Mike Mittler.  “Scott brought the truck home without a scratch both times, finishing 23rd & 24th.  I think what we learned from that provides a pretty good foundation to build on for Daytona.  That, combined with the fact that Scott already has some experience here, puts us in pretty good shape.”

Crew Chief Randy Dean is excited about the team’s prospects as well.  “The MB Motorsports crew has been working overtime to get the #63 Yellow Stripes / Mittler Brothers Ford in race trim.  “I really can’t say enough about these guys,” says Dean. “If this Ford is as fast as it looks in the shop, we should have a pretty good night on Friday.”  Mittler agrees, adding “I don’t believe we have ever had a truck that has been so thoroughly and carefully prepared as this one.”

YELLOW STRIPES: MAKING THE DRIVER

“Yellow Stripes: Making the Driver” is a television series that takes viewers behind the scenes for the development of the next generation of race car drivers. This program also shares important information on the common mistakes young drivers (and their families) often make, the things they need to look out for in the real world of motorsports.

“Yellow Stripes: Making The Driver” shows how aspiring young athletes make their way up through the ranks of auto racing. If you believe you have what it takes to become the next champion, buckle up and hold on because we’re going to blow the doors off the racing industry.

The series stars Scott Stenzel, Charlie Patterson, Mike Loesher and Doug Yates.

MIKE MITTLER’S THOUGHTS ON THE NEXTERA ENERGY RESOURCES 250 AT DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL SUPERSPEEDWAY: “I always say, you never know what you’re getting into when you race at a superspeedway, other than the odds are going to be stacked against you even more than they normally are.  It doesn’t matter if you are in the lead pack or at the back of the pack, you can get caught up in a big wreck.  And since no one knows when the big one is going to happen, the importance of every pit call is even greater, which puts more pressure on the driver and crew chief to not only make the right changes, but also when to make them.  In the end, all you can do is put forth your best effort, race as smart as you can and accept the fact that some days it’s better to be lucky than good. After all the effort our guys have put into this truck, I’m expecting good things for Scott and the MB crew.”

MIKE MITTLER’S THOUGHTS ON SCOTT STENZEL:  “Scott did a great job for us last year in the two races we ran together.  He races clean, stays out of trouble and takes excellent care of the equipment.  Scott communicates well and now that we have a couple races under our belts, I think we can improve on last season’s effort.”

RANDY DEAN’S THOUGHTS ON THE NEXTERA ENERGY RESOURCES 250 AT DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL SUPERSPEEDWAY: “It’ll be great to get back to Daytona.  There’s so many factors that come into play, some of them you can control, some of them you can’t.  From a mechanical standpoint, arriving at the track with a truck that is ‘race ready’ is a good part of the battle, at least as far as qualifying is concerned.  It’s when you actually get on the track that the things that are beyond your control come into play.”

SCOTT STENZEL’S THOUGHTS ON THE NEXTERA ENERGY RESOURCES 250 AT DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL SUPERSPEEDWAY: “Hopefully, having run the ARCA race here a couple years ago will serve me well. The guys on the MB Motorsports crew are great and have gone above and beyond in preparing this truck, so all in all, I’m feeling pretty good about where we are, as a team, heading into Daytona.”
