Driver: Ron Hornaday, Jr.
Driver’s Points Position:  13th
Owners’ Points Position:  5th
Race:  SFP 250
Track:  Kansas Speedway
Distance:  167 laps, 250.5 miles

Four time Champion, Ron Hornaday, Jr. and his No. 9 Smokey Mountain team head to the first intermediate track of the season, Kansas Speedway, looking to showcase their experience.  The fourth race on the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) schedule, the SFP 250, is on a 1.5-mile oval where Hornaday has a history of leading the most laps of any current NCWTS driver.

Sponsor Spotlight: Smokey Mountain Herbal Snuff brings along a new partner for the SFP 250.  7-Eleven is the associate sponsor this week on the No. 9 Smokey Mountain Chevrolet.  Smokey Mountain Herbal Snuff is America’s original and best-selling tobacco-free and nicotine free chewing tobacco alternative.

Silverado Spotlight:  It might be new pavement on the Kansas Speedway but crew chief, Bruce Cook and the No. 9 Smokey Mountain team are bringing a proven truck (Chassis No. 12) to the track this weekend.

Hornaday Hype:

“It’s been tough to focus this week after the incident at Rockingham, but our NTS crews work hard each week to give us the best equipment in the garage, and I owe it to them to be on my game.  We are going into Kansas fully focused on racing to the best of our abilities and leaving the past in the past.”

Cook’s Corner:

“It’s been an interesting week.  We had a quick turnaround to get everything ready for Kansas (Speedway) and I’m proud of all of the guys for putting in the hours to make it happen.  I’m excited for this time of the season, as we begin running on intermediate tracks where our experience will begin to shine.”

“Kansas is going to be a fast, smooth, flat track with the trucks drafting, much like superspeedways.  We all know how exciting the superspeedway races are, so it is bound to be a great race.  Hopefully, we’ll see an NTS Motorsports truck in Victory Lane.

NASCAR’s Response:  Following the late-race incident at Rockingham Speedway, NASCAR issued the following release:

“NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Ron Hornaday Jr. has been penalized by NASCAR following his involvement in an on-track incident last Sunday at Rockingham Speedway.

Hornaday Jr., driver of the No. 9 truck, was found to have violated Section 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing. Altercation with another competitor on the race track during a caution period) of the 2013 rule book.

As a result of this violation, Hornaday Jr. has been fined $25,000, docked 25 championship driver points and placed on NASCAR probation until June 12.”

Catch the Race: Watch the SFP 250 live on SPEED, Saturday, April 20, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. ET.  MRN and Sirius Satellite radio (Channel 90) will broadcast from green to checkered flag.
