Sweet Home Alabama…Piquet Jr. will make his first career NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) start at Talladega Superspeedway on Saturday afternoon, having only previously raced at the 2.66-mile track in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

This Week’s Camaro…The No. 30 WORX team will have chassis TSM-110 for this Saturday’s race at Talladega Superspeedway. TSM-110 was previously used by Piquet Jr. at Daytona International Speedway, where he earned an 11th-place finish.

Richmond Recap…Making his first career NNS start at Richmond International Raceway last week, Nelson Piquet Jr. looked to gain a solid finish in the ToyotaCare 250 before heading to Talladega Superspeedway. Piquet Jr. and his No. 30 Delavaco team started the weekend by qualifying 23rd at the 0.75-mile short track. The Brasilia, Brazil native was able to work his way through traffic and bring his Delavaco Chevrolet Camaro home to a 14th-place finish.

Crew Chief Chris Carrier on Talladega:

“Talladega is a really fast track where anything can happen. The key to Talladega is to find the right setup and a great partner to help you during the race. I am looking forward to getting to Talladega and hopefully bringing home a great finish.”

Nelson Piquet Jr. on his return to Talladega:

“I am looking forward to returning to Talladega this weekend. The race is such a toss-up and anything can happen. Chris Carrier and the guys at Turner Scott Motorsports have worked hard to get my WORX Yard Tools Camaro ready to race. I hope we can go into Talladega and contend for a good finish.”

Justin Allgaier
No. 31 BRANDT Chevrolet Camaro
Talladega Superspeedway | Aaron’s 312
May 4, 2013

Talladega…Following a couple of Friday night races, the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) returns to its regular Saturday afternoon racing at Talladega Superspeedway. This is the second superspeedway race of the season, following the season opener at Daytona International Speedway where Allgaier and the No. 31 BRANDT Chevrolet Camaro team finished seventh.

Richmond Recap…After qualifying 11th at Richmond International Raceway, Allgaier and the No. 31 BRANDT Chevy Camaro team ran in the top-10 all evening. Unfortunately, a late-race accident with another competitor relegated the No. 31 car to a 31st-place finish. Allgaier remains fourth in the NNS driver point standings.

This Week’s Camaro…Chassis TSM-334 will once again be put to work in NNS competition this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. TSM-334 has a new body and front clip after a last-lap accident at Daytona International Speedway.

Meet Justin…Justin Allgaier will meet and sign autographs for fans at the NNS autograph session Friday, May 3, 1:45 – 2:30 p.m. CDT. The autograph session will take place in the concourse under the OV Hill South Grandstand.

Watch and Listen…Justin will be in the SPEED TV booth for the live broadcast of ARCA’s International Motorsports Hall of Fame 250. Coverage begins Friday May 3 at 4:00 p.m. CDT. The Aaron’s 312 NNS race can be seen live Saturday, May 4 on ESPN at 1:30 p.m. CDT, and heard live on MRN and SiriusXM Radio channel 90.

Crew chief Scott Zipadelli on Talladega Superspeedway:

“Talladega [Superspeedway] is one of the easiest tracks to make the car drive well, but it’s difficult to make the car have speed. The track is very smooth and has grip since the repave, but if the sun comes out it gets really slick when the cars are in a big pack. We go there to finish the race and not get in a big wreck, which is often a difficult task at Talladega.”

Justin Allgaier on Talladega Superspeedway:

“I’m excited to get to Talladega [Superspeedway]. We had a great No. 31 BRANDT Chevy Camaro at Daytona [International Speedway] and all of the Turner Scott Motorsports cars were strong, so I expect the same for this weekend. The key is to avoid the accidents and be there at the end of the day for a shot at the win.”

May 4, 2013

Back On Track…The NASCAR Nationwide Series heads to Talladega, Alabama for its second superspeedway stop of the 2013 season. Kyle Larson will be making his first career start at Talladega Superspeedway. Although he has never hit the track at the 2.66-mile, Larson made both ARCA Racing Series and NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) starts at Daytona International Speedway earlier this year. Larson finished 13th in the NNS event in February and earned a second-place finish in the season-opening ARCA event.

This Week’s Camaro…This weekend, the No. 32 team will unload chassis TSM-336 at Talladega Superspeedway. This chassis made its debut earlier this season at Daytona International Speedway, where it was driven by Danica Patrick. Patrick was strong throughout the weekend and led five laps in that race before an electrical issue relegated her to a 36th-place finish.

Frequent Flyer…Cessna will be returning to take flight with Larson this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway after debuting with the rookie NNS driver in the ARCA Racing Series event at Daytona. Cessna, the world’s leading general aviation company, has designed, produced and delivered more than 193,500 airplanes around the globe. This includes more than 6,300 Citation business jets, making it the largest fleet of business jets in the world.

Previous Race Recap…Larson rallied back from an 18th-place starting position to score his third top-10 finish of the 2013 season. The Turner Scott Motorsports crew continuously improved on the handling of the No. 32 Cessna Camaro as Larson wheeled it through the field, resulting in an eighth-place finish and Sunoco Rookie-of-the-Race honors at Richmond International Raceway.

Watch and Listen…The Aaron’s 312 can be seen live on Saturday, May 4 on ESPN.  Race coverage will begin at 2:30 p.m. EDT. The event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as SiriusXM Satellite Radio, channel 90.

Kyle Larson on Talladega Superspeedway

“I think we’ve seen that anything can happen at a superspeedway. I have no doubt that our equipment will be fast at Talladega. It really just comes down to being patient, working out a good strategy with your teammates and staying out of trouble. I ran second in the ARCA race at Daytona earlier this year and before we wrecked on the final lap of the Nationwide race, we were right there competing for the win. I enjoy superspeedway racing a lot, and if I’m lucky, it can be where I get my first Nationwide Series win.”

Season Recap…Danica Patrick will make her second start of the 2013 NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) season this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway. Patrick’s first start of 2013 also came at a superspeedway, at Daytona International Speedway in the NNS season opener. Starting in the 12th spot, Patrick quickly moved through the 40-car pack and found herself racing for the lead.  Patrick went on to lead five laps before she experienced an electrical failure on lap 31, forcing an early retirement from the DRIVE4COPD 300 and relegating her to a 36th-place finish.

Return to Talladega…Patrick will make her second start at the 2.66-mile Talladega Superspeedway. Patrick made her first start at the superspeedway last season, starting in 17th and working her way up through the field to lead a lap before eventually coming home with a top-15 finish, in 13th place.

Crew Chief Mike Greci on Talladega Superspeedway:

“I’m looking forward to working with Danica again this weekend. I felt like we had a lot of chemistry the last time we worked together in Daytona. We were able to run up front and be in contention for a solid finish before we experienced an electrical failure. We have a great crew put together for this weekend, and I feel like we should be able to take the new chassis and  compete for a solid finish.”

Danica Patrick on Talladega Superspeedway:

“I really enjoy racing at the superspeedways, and Turner Scott Motorsports has a great superspeedway package. We had a great run going in Daytona, and I’m hoping we can pick up where we left off. I have a great crew, and I feel like we have an opportunity to bring home a solid finish for AccuDoc Solutions, Go Daddy and TSM.”
