Great Clips extends, expands with Hendrick Motorsports

THREE-YEAR EXTENSION ADDS CUP RACES WITH NO. 5 SPRINT CUP TEAM

CONCORD, N.C. (July 26, 2013) – With a new three-year commitment, Great Clips Inc. has extended and expanded its sponsorship of Hendrick Motorsports and the team’s No. 5 Chevrolets driven by Kasey Kahne in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

The agreement, which covers the 2014, 2015 and 2016 seasons, secures primary sponsorship of the No. 5 Chevrolet SS race cars for 10 events annually. Great Clips, which joined Hendrick Motorsports as a corporate partner in 2012, also will be a major associate sponsor of the No. 5 team throughout each of the next three seasons.

Great Clips will be featured on Kahne’s Chevrolet this weekend at Indianapolis, marking the second of three scheduled primary races for the company in 2013. The world’s largest salon brand also will be the primary sponsor at New Hampshire on Sept. 22.

“We are very proud to have Kasey drive the No. 5 for Great Clips,” said Terri Miller, vice president of marketing and communications for Great Clips. “On behalf of all of our corporate staff, franchisees and stylists, Kasey has become a special member of our family over the years. He has brought great value to our brand and helped our system grow. Being a partner of Hendrick Motorsports is truly an honor as we share the same values, integrity and passion to win.”

Kahne, 33, has earned 15 career victories and 26 pole positions in Sprint Cup competition. Driving a No. 5 Great Clips Chevrolet SS, the Enumclaw, Wash., native won March 17 at Bristol, Tenn., and is in contention for his second consecutive Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup berth since joining Hendrick Motorsports last season.

“The people at Great Clips have been committed to NASCAR as a marketing platform for many years,” said Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports. “They continue to see a great return on investment, and we’re focused on continuing that trend by performing at a high level on the racetrack while delivering business wins. Great Clips is a terrific partner, and we look forward to building on the success we’ve already had together.”

Great Clips, which has more than 3,000 locations and nearly 30,000 stylists throughout the United States and Canada, has a long history with Kahne. Since 2003, the company has supported his efforts as both a driver and car owner across multiple racing series.

“I’m happy to see Great Clips make a long-term commitment to the No. 5 team,” Kahne said. “I’m thankful for the support they’ve provided throughout my career, and I look forward to representing them for years to come. Bristol was our first Sprint Cup win together, and everyone on the team expects to deliver many more.”
