FAMILIAR TERRITORY: With seven races left in the 2013 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season, John Wes Townley and his No. 7 Zaxby’s Toyota Tundra team have one goal in mind – to consecutively finish inside the top-10. Townley has three starts at Chicagoland Speedway – one each in the ARCA Racing Series, in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, and in the Truck Series. Look for Townley to top his previous performance (14th) at the 1.5-mile speedway and collect those top-10 finishes Red Horse Racing expects.

WELCOME HOME: Wes McPherson welcomes the trip to Chicagoland Speedway, as it brings him back home. The DuQuin, IL native grew up racing go-karts at local tracks around the area. McPherson is a graduate of Performance Instruction & Training (PIT) program and joined the Red Horse Racing family last fall and currently serves as the rear tire carrier on the No. 7 Zaxby’s crew.

NEW MENU ITEMS AT ZAXBY’S: Zaxby’s, a southeast favorite for chicken fingers and wings, has been indescribably good for more than 20 years. The Athens, Georgia based chain offers its guests prepared-at-order Chicken Fingerz, Traditional or Boneless Wings, sandwiches, Zalads and Zappetizers, along with a variety of nine sauces ranging from Wimpy and Tongue Torch to Nuclear and Insane. Mixing things up, guests can now enjoy Zaxby’s new Cobb Zalad through summer’s end. Additionally, Zaxby’s offers a new line of premium milkshakes including the popular Birthday Cake and Banana Pudding Milkshakes and the new Chocolate Cookie Milkshake. The company operates more than 575 locations in 13 states. John Wes Townley will compete with Zaxby’s serving as primary sponsor for the entire 22 Truck Series race schedule. CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 7 Zaxby’s Toyota Tundra will be racing Chassis No. 016 this weekend at Chicagoland Speedway. The newest chassis built in the Red Horse Racing stable will make its debut around the 1.5-mile quad oval on Friday. The chassis is part of a series of new chassis that are all built around the intermediate track program.

MEET & GREET: Townley, along with teammates Germán Quiroga and Timothy Peters will visit the Toyota Pitpass Stage on Friday afternoon in the Chicagoland Speedway Vendor Midway at 1:30pm.

REARVIEW MIRROR – IOWA SPEEDWAY: John Wes Townley returned to Iowa Speedway after having had his best showing in three starts at the 0.875 mile tri-oval in the series last visit to the track. In his last outing in the No. 7 Zaxby’s Toyota Tundra, Townley qualified 14th and finished 12th. The team qualified 15th and Townley spent most of the race in the middle of the pack driving a smart, conservative race as he battled a loose-handling race truck. Townley capitalized on his opportunity and beat his previous high finish crossing the line in 11th.

John Wes Townley on Chicagoland Speedway:

What are your thoughts on Chicagoland Speedway?

“Chicagoland has always been an interesting track. It’s a downforce track which makes it fun. It has its areas that you have to watch out for because it’s notorious for getting free which is not a good feeling there.  A lot of how your Toyota Tundra runs depends on how windy it is that day. That’s one of the characteristics of Chicago, and the race track is no exception.

What is your expectation for the 225 mile race?

“I definitely want to improve my finishing position from last year. I think it’d be great to go out and get a top-10 finish. That’s my goal from here on out. Week in and week out for the rest of the season, my Zaxby’s team will do our best to earn those top-10 finishes.”

Timothy Peters
No. 17 Parts Plus Toyota Tundra

Starts: 4 Top-Five: 1 Top-10: 2
Avg. Start: 16 Avg. Finish: 12.5 Laps Led: 8

Chassis: 007

TIME TO CONQUER: If anyone anticipates returning to a 1.5-mile track, it’s Timothy Peters and his No. 17 Parts Plus Toyota Tundra team. Peters andthe Red Horse Racing squad have one last item open on their checklist at an intermediate track. A win. That, like every other NASCAR Camping World Truck Series weekend will be on the agenda – but with seven races left in the season, a little edge will push the team during the EnjoyIllinios.com 225 at Chicagoland Speedway.

RIGHT AT HOME: Crew Chief of Timothy Peter’s No. 17 Toyota Tundra is always ready for Chicagoland Speedway. Butch Hylton hails from Rockford, IL just a short two hour trip southeast from the track. Hylton moved to North Carolina in 1990 to join the NASCAR circuit and has been a part of the Red Horse Racing family since 2011.

Team Engineer, Craig Noble also shares the excitement of Chicagoland growing up just two hours south of the speedway in Farmer City, IL. Noble is in his third season at Red Horse Racing after moving to North Carolina in 2007. He brings with him an engineering degree from  the University of Illinois.

PARTS PLUS: Parts Plus joins Timothy Peters as primary sponsor on his No. 17 Toyota Tundra as the Series heads to Chicagoland Speedway. The Memphis-based warehouse distributor originated more than 56 years ago tracing back to a series of jobber programs. Since 2005, Parts Plus has been a member of the Automotive Distribution Network that has over 300 member distributors under five brand names and from over 400 separate warehouses across the United States, Mexico, Canada and Puerto Rico. For more information on Parts Plus and locations near you, visit PartsPlus.com.

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 17 Parts Plus Toyota Tundra team will take Chassis No. 007 to Chicagoland Speedway this weekend. The intermediate chassis was most recently raced at Texas Motor Speedway. Chassis No. 007 made its debut at Texas Motor Speedway last fall and collected a 10th-place finish. Most recently, Peters earned a third-place starting position at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May.

MEET & GREET: Peters, along with teammates Germán Quiroga and John Wes Townley will visit the Toyota Pitpass Stage on Friday afternoon in the Chicagoland Speedway Vendor Midway at 1:30pm.

REARVIEW MIRROR – IOWA SPEEDWAY: Timothy Peters came to Iowa Speedway as the only two-time winner at the track and had high hopes of making it his third win. He qualified the No. 17 Parts Plus Toyota Tundra sixth and as soon as the green flag dropped started moving forward. Peters was able to collect a bonus point on lap 122 as he lead a lap before hitting pit road for green-flag pit stops. With the leader to pit road, Peters assumed the second place position for the restart. Peters took over the lead on Lap 141 and would lead for 21 laps before the third caution was waved with 31 laps remaining. As the field took the green flag, Peters made contact with another competitor shuffling him to the third place. But then there was contact with another truck that took Peters out of contention with four laps to go. The race ended on a green-white-checkered finish with the Parts Plus Tundra finishing 12th.

Timothy Peters on Chicagoland Speedway:

How anxious are you about winning on a 1.5-mile track?

“I definitely want to win on a 1.5-mile track. I have been very fortunate to win six races and five of those were on a short track. I want to have that win on different style track. I certainly want that win for myself but also to be able to get the first for Red Horse Racing.

How is the Red Horse Racing 1.5-mile program heading into Chicago?

“It’s getting better.  It just seems like every mile-and-a-half that we’ve been to this year, we haven’t run bad. We just haven’t gotten the job done.  Hopefully we have all that out of our way and from here to Homestead (Miami-Speedway) it’s blue skies.”

Germán Quiroga
No. 77 NET10Wireless Toyota Tundra

-No Previous Starts-

Chassis: 008

NEW KID IN THE WINDY CITY: This may be Germán Quiroga’s debut at the 1.5-mile speedway of Chicagoland Speedway but if his 2013 season intermediate program track record is any indication on how he may perform, the No. 77 NET10 Wireless Toyota Tundra team has nothing to worry about. Quiroga made history by finishing third at Texas Motor Speedway in June which is the highest finishing position in a National division of NASCAR for a Mexican. He went on to duplicate that finish at Pocono Raceway where he battled for the win during the closing laps.

The Rookie of the Year contender has also captured an eighth-place finish at the 1.5-mile track of Kentucky Speedway and an 11th-place finish at Kansas Speedway. Look for Quiroga to make a mark on the windy city during the EnjoyIllinois.com 225.

NET10 WIRELESS®: Germán Quiroga welcomes back primary sponsor NET10 Wireless on his No. 77 Toyota Tundra this weekend at Chicagoland Speedway. NET10 Wireless served as primary sponsor for the first seven races this season. The no-contract cell phone leader will continue  its support as primary or associate sponsor for the remainder of the season. For more information on NET10 Wireless, visit www.NET10Wireless.com.

CHASSIS HISTORY: Quiroga is back behind Chassis No. 008 this weekend at Chicagoland Speedway. Last raced at Michigan International Raceway and Pocono Raceway, Quiroga tied his highest finishing position (third) for a Mexican in a national division of NASCAR at Pocono. This chassis was also raced at Texas Motor Speedway where Quiroga initially made history with his third-place finish. The chassis also scored an 11th-place finish at Kansas Speedway earlier this year. The notebook for Chassis No. 008 started during the 2012 season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. There, the chassis earned Red Horse Racing’s 10th pole position and took home a seventh-place finish.

MEET & GREET: Quiroga, along with teammates John Wes Townley and Timothy Peters will visit the Toyota Pitpass Stage on Friday afternoon in the Chicagoland Speedway Vendor Midway at 1:30pm.

REARVIEW MIRROR – IOWA SPEEDWAY: After qualifying in the 18th position, Germán Quiroga quickly began to demonstrate his maturity as a driver by carefully picking his opportunities during the course of the race. By lap 65 he was running inside the top-10 and by lap 116 he was in 7th. The team calmly made their way through two green-white-checker finishes to take sixth place.

Germán Quiroga on Chicagoland Speedway:

What are you most looking forward to at Chicagoland Speedway?

“Honestly, I am really looking forward to seeing a big Latin turnout. Chicago is heavily populated with the Hispanic culture and I hope that the Latin community comes out to show their support. I will do my best to put our NET10 Wireless Toyota Tundra into victory lane to capture the first win for a Mexican in a National division of NASCAR. It would be great to do that in Chicago.”

What are your goals for the remainder of the season?

“Of course my goal is to obtain the Rookie of the Year title, but really I would really like to capture that first win for my Country. We are coming off a sixth-place finish at Iowa Speedway and my team is capable of much more. We are a front running team and I want to continue to show that we belong there. Top-10’s and top-five finishes for the rest of the year. That is our goal.”
