The Bluegrass State…The NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) will make its second and final trip of the 2013 season to the Bluegrass State and Kentucky Speedway this weekend for the Kentucky 300. This weekend’s race will also mark the sixth and final standalone NNS race of the 2013 season. Nelson Piquet Jr. will make his second career NNS start at Kentucky on Saturday night, having previously finished eighth in the first race of the season held at the 1.5-mile oval in June.

This Week’s Camaro…The No. 30 WORX team will have chassis TSM-405 for this Saturday night’s race at Kentucky Speedway. TSM-405 was previously used by Piquet Jr. at Atlanta Motor Speedway last month, where he earned a 12th-place finish.

Come and See…Piquet Jr. will join his Turner Scott Motorsports teammates, as well as other NNS drivers, at the NNS autograph session on Saturday, September 21 from 2:30-3:30 p.m. in the infield fan zone hospitality tent.

Chicagoland Recap…Making his second career NNS start at Chicagoland Speedway under perfect sunny conditions last Saturday afternoon, Piquet Jr. and his No. 30 Hooters team looked to capitalize on what they learned in the first race of the season at the 1.5-mile D-shaped oval. Piquet Jr. started the weekend by qualifying the No. 30 Hooters Chevrolet Camaro ninth at the Chicago suburb track, his sixth top-10 start of the 2013 season. After battling a tight racecar and going down a lap at the halfway point of the race, Piquet Jr. and his Turner Scott Motorsports team fought back to earn their fourth top-10 finish of the year, crossing the finish line in the 10th position.

Watch and Listen…The Kentucky 300 can be seen live on Saturday, September 21st on ESPNEWS. Race coverage will begin at 7:00 p.m. EDT. The event can also be heard live on PRN Radio as well as SiriusXM Satellite Radio, channel 90.

Nelson Piquet Jr. on his return to Kentucky:

“I am really looking forward to getting back on the track this weekend in Kentucky. We are coming off our fourth top-10 finish of the season, so hopefully we can continue to build on that momentum. Kentucky is a really fun mile-and-half oval. It’s a unique track with multiple grooves, so there should be some good side-by side racing. I feel really good about our mile-and-half package, so hopefully we can bring the WORX Chevy home with a good finish.”

Justin Allgaier

No. 31 BRANDT Chevrolet Camaro

Kentucky Speedway | Kentucky 300

September 21, 2013

Returning to Kentucky…The NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) will make its second and final stop of the 2013 season at Kentucky Speedway this weekend for Saturday night racing under the lights. The June race was shortened by 30 laps due to rain and Allgaier finished 13th. Allgaier looks to continue his streak of all top-10 qualifying spots at Kentucky. His average start is 6.3. He also has four top-10 finishes in six starts at Kentucky.

This Week’s Camaro…This weekend, the No. 31 BRANDT Chevrolet team will utilize chassis TSM-404. TSM-404 has raced twice this season: Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Atlanta Motor Speedway.

TV Time…This weekend, Allgaier will join the FOX Sports 1 broadcast booth from 8:00 – 10:00 p.m. EDT for the ARCA Racing Series ZLOOP 150 on Friday, September 20. The No. 31 BRANDT Camaro will have an in-car camera sponsored by Chevrolet. You can watch this weekend’s race on Saturday, September 21 on ESPNEWS at 7:00 p.m. EDT.

Meet Justin…Allgaier will sign autographs with his Turner Scott Motorsports teammates and other NNS drivers at the NNS autograph session on Saturday, September 21 from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. The session will be held in the Fan Zone hospitality tent, located next to the ARCA garage.

Recapping Chicago…The NNS made its second and final stop of the season at Chicagoland Speedway for a Saturday afternoon matinee. Before the 200-lap race on Saturday, Allgaier qualified his No. 31 WinField Chevrolet in the 20th spot. Late in the Dollar General 300 powered by Coca-Cola, Allgaier was running in the top 10 and made contact with the wall, causing him to pit for minor repairs. With just a few laps remaining in the race, Allgaier was able to work his way back to the 12th position.

Crew chief Scott Zipadelli on Kentucky Speedway:

“Kentucky [Speedway] has a lot of character. We have two practice sessions, and neither of them are at night like the race is, so that always presents a challenge because of how the track changes at night. The weather is forecasting to be cool on Saturday night, but it will be warm during practice on Friday, so that will be another challenge.”

Justin Allgaier on Kentucky Speedway:

“In June at Kentucky [Speedway], the race was shortened by rain. We would have had a better finish if it wasn’t for the rain. It’s not supposed to rain on Saturday night, but it will be cool which will be nice in the car. I typically run pretty well at Kentucky, so I’m looking forward to a good result. It’s also a night race which puts on a great show for the fans.”

Kyle Larson

No. 32 Clear Men Scalp Therapy Chevrolet Camaro

Kentucky Speedway | Kentucky 300

September 21, 2013

Another Kind of Horse Power…The NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) returns to the Bluegrass State, visiting Kentucky Speedway for the second and final time this season. Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender Kyle Larson has two previous starts at Kentucky Speedway. Larson finished seventh at the 1.5-mile track earlier this year in the NNS and earned a top-10 finish in his NASCAR Camping World Truck Series debut last June.

All Clear…Clear Men Scalp Therapy shampoo is back on board the No. 32 Chevrolet this weekend, marking the third time Clear Men has been featured on Larson’s car this season. Clear Men products are designed to meet the hair and scalp needs for men, providing dandruff protection and leaving hair feeling and smelling great. Products include: Dry Scalp Hydration, Strong & Full, Clean & Refresh, Cool Sport Mint and Complete Care.

This Week’s Camaro…Crew chief Trent Owens and the No. 32 Clear Men Scalp Therapy Camaro team will be bringing a brand-new chassis to Kentucky Speedway this weekend. Chassis TSM-406 will make its on-track debut in the 200-lap race on Saturday night.

Come and See…Larson will join his Turner Scott Motorsports teammates at the NNS autograph session on Saturday, September 21 from 2:30-3:30 p.m. The autograph session will be held in the infield fan zone hospitality tent, located next to the ARCA garage.

Watch and Listen…The Kentucky 300 will be broadcast live on ESPNEWS on Saturday, September 21, with race coverage beginning at 7:00 p.m. EDT. You can also listen to the race by tuning in to PRN Radio or SiriusXM Satellite Radio, channel 90.

Previous Race Recap…Larson appeared to be on his way to the greatest comeback of the season as he overcame a spin in qualifying which resulted in a 39th-place starting position. Larson was fighting for the win in the top five, but his bad luck streak for the day continued when he experienced a smoking tire while running second. Dropping to the rear of the top 10, Larson’s tire eventually gave way, causing extensive damage to the SNICKERS Bites Chevrolet, forcing him to retire from the race with a 32nd-place finish at Chicagoland Speedway.

Kyle Larson on Kentucky Speedway

“I’m looking forward to getting back to Kentucky Speedway. It’s a fun track for me, since I made my first-ever Truck Series start there last summer. It seems like things have happened really quickly since then. We’re bringing a brand-new car this weekend, but I’m expecting good things from my Turner Scott Motorsports team. We ran pretty well there in June, so it will be fun to get back on track and put our bad day at Chicagoland behind us.”

Jeb Burton

No. 34 Arrowhead Camaro

Kentucky Speedway | Kentucky 300

September  21, 2013

First Time for Everything…It may be an off-weekend for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS), but championship contender Jeb Burton wants all the experience he can get. Making his NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) debut this weekend at Kentucky Speedway, Burton will race the 1.5-mile oval track in the No. 34 Arrowhead/Kangaroo Express Chevrolet Camaro in Saturday night’s Kentucky 300. Having only tested once in a NNS car, the 21-year-old rookie hopes to prove himself in the 200-lap race.

Previous Run…In his last visit to Kentucky Speedway, Burton carried the momentum from his first NCWTS career win at Texas Motor Speedway and applied it to his Kentucky debut. After ranking in the top three in both practice sessions, Burton started the UNOH 225 from 11th position. Burton and his team fought hard to gain track position, something that is particularly difficult to do at Kentucky Speedway, and finished the race in the ninth position.

Meet and Greet…Come say hello to Burton and his Turner Scott Motorsports teammates at the NNS autograph session on Saturday, September 21 from 2:30-3:30 p.m. in the infield fan zone hospitality tent.

Watch and Listen…Don’t miss Jeb’s NNS debut at Kentucky Speedway this weekend. The Kentucky 300 will be broadcast live on ESPNEWS on Saturday, September 21, with race coverage beginning at 7:00 p.m. EDT. The race can also be heard on PRN Radio or SiriusXM Satellite Radio, channel 90.

Crew Chief Mike Hillman Jr. on Racing at Kentucky Speedway

“It feels great to be a part of Jeb’s first Nationwide race. Right now we’re exceeding expectations in the Truck Series with five poles, a win and being among the top five in points, so I couldn’t be happier. It’s a great opportunity for me to be involved in the next step of Jeb’s career and I hope to help him become a better race car driver.”

Jeb Burton on Racing at Kentucky Speedway

“I’m really thankful for this opportunity to be in the No. 34 car this weekend in Kentucky. To me, it’s all about learning more and becoming the best driver I can be. Luckily, my TSM team and sponsor, Arrowhead, are helping me do that. I really liked racing my truck at Kentucky Speedway this year, so I’m looking forward to giving it another shot.”
