Texas Motor Speedway IIÂ Event Preview
THE LONE STAR STATE:Â Following two off weekends in the NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule, Elliott Sadler and the No. 11 OneMain Financial travel south to Texas Motor Speedway for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 300. Sadler has 11 Nationwide Series starts at the 1.5-mile track, notching two pole awards, three top-five and five top-10 finishes. He also has experience at Texas in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series with 18 starts, one win (2004), one pole award, one top-five and three top-10 finishes. Sadler made one appearance in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2010 where he started second and finished fifth.
LOOKING BACK:Â In the November 2012 event at Texas Motor Speedway, Sadler raced in the top 10 for much of the event. Competing with a loose-handling car, Sadler settled for an 11th-place finish.
DOUBLE DUTY:Â Sadler will spend the weekend at Texas going back and forth from the Nationwide Series garage to the Sprint Cup Series garage. After Joe Gibbs Racing teammate was forced to take a leave of absence from racing for the rest of the 2013 season due to health issues, Sadler was tapped to drive the No. 55 Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota entry in the Sprint Cup Series. Sadler will pilot the No. 55 Toyota on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET on ESPN.
SPECIAL HOOD: Sadler will sport a special hood this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway featuring the names of the winners of a OneMain Financial internal contest. Sadler will visit with the employees at the race weekend at Texas to congratulate their hard work. The winners include District Manager Raul Rincon, Noe Estrada, Carla Perez, Noe Rodriguez, Jorge Siller Dania Pena, Corina Cortez, Rosie Rodriguez, Martha Aguilar, Selene Muniz, Angie Sanchez, Aleida De Leon, Anna Mendoza, Oralia Bratley, Kecia Chavez, Michelle Hernandez, Janete De La Cruz, Pedro Abeldano, Anita Pena, Maribel Benavidez, Emmanuel Robledo, Nedina Aguilar, Pedro Pacheco, Aurora De La Cruz, Leticia Palomares, Nora Garcia, Rina Cisneros, Beatriz De Leon, Mariel Barrientos.
TO THE POINT: Sadler sits in the fifth position in the Nationwide Series driver championship point standings, 78 points behind the leader with three races remaining in the 2013 season.
LAST RACE: Charlotte Motor Speedway: Sporting a special pink paint scheme in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Sadler and the No. 11 OneMain Financial team suffered a case of bad luck. After getting too loose during qualifying and hitting the wall, the No. 11 team was forced to bring out the back up car for the race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Starting from the rear of the field, Sadler wasted little time as he moved up through the field. Moving into the 11th position on lap 52, Sadler came down pit road for a scheduled green-flag pit stop. The JGR crew executed a quick stop, and while exiting pit road, a wreck came down the track and onto the apron, sending Sadler spinning and causing right-rear damage. The OneMain Financial team worked hard to fix the damage and sent the No. 11 Toyota back on the track, but Sadler got loose without a right-rear quarter panel, ending the team’s night early in the 36th position.
