The King Says Martinsville Speedway Awesome Place To Watch A Race

MARTINSVILLE, Va. (January 7, 2014) – New Year’s resolutions are made to be broken … unless you resolved to take in a race at historic Martinsville Speedway, where action and excitement are king, according to The King, Richard Petty.

According to Petty the half-mile oval is a pretty cool place to watch a NASCAR Sprint Cup race, like the STP 500 on March 30.

“It’s a door-to-door, fender-to-fender, wheel-to-wheel deal,” Petty, who leads all Martinsville winners with 15, said

during a recent visit to Martinsville. “There’s long straightaways and sharp corners. It was always who could handle the best for 500 laps. We used to run up here and people would run out of brakes. They got the brakes better now so they race all the way through the race. From that standpoint it makes it more exciting up here now.

“But again, no matter where you sit in the grandstands, you see what’s happening. It’s right dead in front of you.”

A call to Martinsville Speedway’s ticket office, 877.RACE.TIX, or a visit to www.martinsvillespeedway.com, can keep New Year’s racing resolutions headed in the right direction.

Tickets to the STP 500 start at just $37. Seats in the Bill France Tower are only $42. Youth 12 and under tickets in the Clay Earles Tower are $10 with teens 13-17 for $25 and adults only $57.

The Family Four Pack, which includes 2 adults and 2 youth 12 and under, start at just $90.

The STP 500 weekend at Martinsville Speedway is scheduled for March 28-30. The Kroger 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race is scheduled for March 29 and Pole Day on March 28.
