This Week’s Whitetail Chevrolet SS at Phoenix International Raceway … Brian Scott will pilot chassis No. 418 in this weekend’s NASCAR Sprint Cup series race at Phoenix International Raceway. This is the same chassis Scott utilized in his Cup series debut at Charlotte Motor Speedway last fall. This chassis has been raced six additional times with an 11th-place finish at Michigan International Speedway last June with Austin Dillon behind the wheel.
Phoenix Stats … Phoenix will mark the Boise, Idaho native’s third Sprint Cup Series start, but first in a Chevrolet SS at PIR. Scott has nine previous NASCAR Nationwide Series starts with three top-10 finishes to his credit. Scott also has a NASCAR Camping World Truck victory he claimed in 2012. In addition to the victory, in four NCWTS starts he has completed 100 percent of the laps raced with two top-five and two top-10 finishes with 48 laps led in competition.
Did you know? … The Whitetail Club once again returns on Scott’s No. 33 Chevrolet SS on Saturday afternoon. Whitetail was the primary partner during Scott’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Daytona 500 debut last weekend at Daytona International Speedway. The bright orange, white and black scheme will support the McCall, Idaho living community on Payette Lake, just two hours north of Boise, Idaho for the 500-kilometer race.
Double Duty … Scott will once again pull double duty this weekend at PIR. In addition to competing in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on Sunday afternoon, Scott will continue to race for the Nationwide Series championship in his No. 2 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet Camaro. The Blue Jeans Go Green 200, presented by Cotton, The Fabric of our Lives is live on ABC at 3:45 p.m. ET on Saturday.
Rearview Mirror … Scott competed in both the Sprint Cup series and Nationwide Series events last weekend at Daytona International Speedway. In only his second Cup series start, Scott finished 25th after his team fought for position during the 200-lap race. As superspeedway racing goes, Scott found himself collected in three on-track accidents but rest assured, finished his debut in the Daytona 500. On Saturday afternoon, Scott and his team had a Chevrolet Camaro capable of winning the 120-lap event, but was caught in the draft at the end of the race, finishing 17th. Scott currently sits 11th in the Nationwide Series driver point standings.

How do you feel about racing double duty?
“It’s all about experience, seat and track time. I’m trying to get a few Sprint Cup races under my belt, to go out and learn from the series veterans. Daytona was a great experience, but it is also superspeedway racing. Phoenix, California and Charlotte will be the tracks that will be a true testament to driving at the Sprint Cup level.
What are your thoughts on racing at Phoenix International Raceway?
“I’ve always enjoyed racing at Phoenix. It’s one of my favorite tracks to go to. Since the repave a few years back, the track has gotten really racey. Practice is pretty touch and go, because you’ve got to wait for the track to set in and the rubber to get down on the track. It’s a track where you’ve really got to stay on point with the track changes and be ahead of the competition on making adjustments to your car. That team is typically the one who ends up in victory lane.”
