EARNHARDT CLAIMS 23rd AT AUTO CLUB

FONTANA, Calif. – Jeffrey Earnhardt scored his best finish of the young Nationwide Series season Saturday, coming home 23rd in the TreatMyClot.com 300 at Auto Club Speedway.

Earnhardt had failed to crack the top 25 in the season’s first four races. His Saturday finish boosted him from 21st to 19th in the Nationwide driver point standings.

“We showed more consistency today,” said Earnhardt, who drove the K1Speed/Shakey’s Pizza Chevrolet in his first race on the super-fast two-mile track. “We didn’t get the finish we wanted, but we got to the checkered flag and had some good laps. We’ll build on this and get better.”

Kyle Larson won the race, scoring his first Nationwide Series victory. He led 15 of the final 17 laps in taking his first win in 38 series races.

The Nationwide tour moves on to Texas Motor Speedway for an April 4 race.
