Tricky Triangle…Justin Allgaier will be making his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) start at Pocono Raceway on Sunday in the Pocono 400. While it may be Allgaier’s first time at the Tricky Triangle in a NSCS car, he’s no stranger to the 2.5-mile track. Allgaier has six starts at Pocono in an ARCA car, where he racked up one win (2008), two top fives and four top 10s, leading a total of 52 laps. In May, Allgaier and the No. 51 HScott Motorsports team spent two days testing at the track in preparation for this weekend’s race.

Dover Recap…Allgaier competed in his first NSCS race at Dover International Speedway. The weekend started off with Allgaier trying to find a balance that he liked in his No. 51 AccuDoc Solutions Chevrolet during Friday’s practice session. After qualifying 30th for the 400-mile race, the No. 51 team went to work in Saturday’s two practice sessions. Allgaier fought the handling of his No. 51 AccuDoc Solutions Chevy during Sunday’s race, but he battled through to finish 26th in his first NSCS race at the Monster Mile for HScott Motorsports.

Sunoco Rookie of the Year…After graduating to the NSCS this season, Allgaier is competing for Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors in the No. 51 BRANDT Chevy. In 2009, Allgaier took home the Rookie of the Year title in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. After Dover, Allgaier is currently third in the standings, behind Kyle Larson and Austin Dillon.

Justin Allgaier on Pocono Raceway:

“Pocono [Raceway] is actually one of my favorite tracks to go to. It’s a very unique track and we don’t go to any other track like it during the season. It doesn’t hurt that I’ve won there in an ARCA car; that makes me like it even more. It has been a while since I’ve actually raced there, but I tested with my team there last month and it went really well. It was nice to get back out there and get acclimated with the track again. I could tell it had changed over the years, but it didn’t take long for me to get comfortable. I think we will have a good BRANDT Chevy this weekend and consistency will be key.”

Crew Chief Steve Addington on Pocono Raceway:

“We tested at Pocono [Raceway] a couple of weeks ago, so we have a good notebook built for this weekend. The test went really well and we learned a lot. It has been a while since Justin has raced at Pocono and it was good for him to get the extra track time. We’ve been making gains each week at HScott Motorsports and I think we will continue to see those improvements this week.”
