ADVANCE NOTES

·         Reed at Michigan International Speedway

o   Roush Fenway Racing rookie Ryan Reed makes his first NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) start at Michigan International Speedway (MIS) this weekend.

o   Reed has one start at MIS in the ARCA Racing Series, which came in 2012.  Reed started fourth and finished 12th.

·         The Car

o   The No. 16 American Diabetes Association Drive to Stop DiabetesSM presented by Lilly Diabetes team unloads Chassis RK-827 for the third time this season.  This chassis previously raced at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Darlington Raceway, finishing 15th and 13th, respectively.

·         Pathway to Stop Diabetes Paint Scheme

o   Reed’s No. 16 American Diabetes Association Drive to Stop Diabetes presented by Lilly Diabetes Ford Mustang will carry the American Diabetes Association’s Pathway to Stop Diabetes paint scheme this weekend at Michigan International Speedway.

o   The Pathway program inspires and supports a new generation of diabetes researchers who will focus on innovative ideas that lead to discoveries in diabetes prevention and treatment, and ultimately change the face of diabetes.

o   The trend in research today is to invest in a specific technology or pathology. But diabetes is a complex disease with multiple challenges in discovering prevention methods, treatment options and ultimately a cure. Pathway focuses on attracting the most creative and brilliant minds to diabetes research and then help them pursue their discoveries, in essence creating a human Pathway to transformative science.

o   Visit diabetes.org/pathway for more information.

·         Recapping Dover

o   Reed made his first NNS start Saturday at Dover International Speedway, a track nicknamed the Monster Mile.  Reed maintained his position inside the top-15 for much of the race, until an accident collected the No. 16 Ford Mustang, relegating the team to a 27th-place finish.
QUOTE WORTHY

Reed on racing at Michigan International Speedway:

“I’m excited to get on track at Michigan.  This is obviously a special track for Roush Fenway and Ford, so I’m looking forward to getting this Drive to Stop Diabetes Ford Mustang up front.  It’s my first Nationwide start at Michigan, but I raced in the ARCA Series here in 2012, so I’m hoping that experience will pay off.”
