Kurt Busch and No. 41 SHR Team Penalized following NSCS Daytona Race

NASCAR announced today that the No. 41 NASCAR Sprint Series Cup team of Stewart-Haas Racing has been penalized for a rule infraction that was found during post-race inspection at Daytona International Speedway last weekend. NASCAR fined crew chief Daniel Knost $10,000 and penalized both driver Kurt Busch and car owner Gene Haas with the loss of 10 owner’s points.

Per NASCAR, the No. 41 car was found in violation of “sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing) and 20-12 (l) (for events at Daytona International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway, at all times, the Delta (or difference) of the Z-height measurement between the center of the panhard bar mounting bolt located at the left truck trailing arm and the center of the panhard bar mounting bolt, located at the right rear sub-frame mounting bracket, must not exceed three inches) of the 2014 NASCAR rule book.”

Busch finished the rain-shortened Coke Zero 400 at Daytona in the third spot after leading a race-high 36 laps.
