AUSTIN DILLON QUOTES:

What do you think about Indianapolis Motor Speedway?

“Everybody knows how prestigious this race is and just being a part of it with Mycogen Seeds was huge last year, and we get to come back with them this year, too. I’m excited to have a good run. I feel like we have a little momentum going into this race. We’ve been running a little better as of late on the ovals, so I’m definitely looking forward to Indy. Hopefully it will cut the learning curve in half and we can rely on some of our notes and what we’ve done in the past to make our car better, so hopefully that plays out for us. It’s a really special track and I have a lot of fond memories there walking down pit road with my grandfather and watching races from the Pagoda. I remember him being perched up there watching his cars, so it’s so cool now that I have a chance to add to that history. To become the fourth driver from Richard Childress Racing to win and to do it my first year in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series would be crazy. It would definitely be an amazing experience.”

Indy has an extra special meaning for you, what’s it like going back there?

“Indy is the greatest race track in the world. It’s the one I circle every year, even before I won there. I spent a lot of time there as a kid watching IndyCar races. I was at the inaugural Brickyard 400. The track holds a special meaning to me for sure.”

Do you appreciate the history of Indy now that you’re an adult?

“At one point I could name every Indy 500 winner from 1911 through probably the mid-90’s. I’ve forgotten most of them now but could still probably name quite a few. I was and still am a big history geek. I love history, especially at Indianapolis.”

RYAN NEWMAN QUOTES:

Being from Indiana, what were your thoughts when you heard NASCAR was coming to the Brickyard?

“I believe I was there for the first or second test they had. My mom and I went down there to pick up some tires for my open-wheel cars and I heard some cars at the track. They didn’t sound like Indy cars. There was a distinct difference in the way they sounded. I snuck into the garages and got to walk all the way out to pit road and saw them go by. It was a surreal-type sound because of the tailpipes and the straightaways lined with grandstands on both sides. I remember that and it was all the way back to 1993 or 1994. It was pretty special to be there, especially knowing now that I would eventually come back and win a Brickyard 400.”

Where does the Brickyard rank in the races you have won?

“It’s hard to rationalize a race beating the Daytona 500, but with all that happened to me last year, winning the 2013 Brickyard 400 is kind of in a tie with me winning the 50th running of the Daytona 500. I went through a lot last year. Plus, I am from Indiana and that place is important to my state. I think the most important part of winning at Indy is appreciating the history of the speedway and the history of all the race car drivers who have competed there. Then, to see the list of drivers who have actually fulfilled their dreams of winning there, it’s pretty amazing.”

With the new rules package, do you expect to see a different kind of race?

“No, I think track position is going to be as important as it always has been at Indy, if not more. Horsepower will remain at a premium. You also have to get through the corners because that dictates how you are going to run in the straightaways. To win at the Brickyard, you will need the complete package and then some.”

BRIAN SCOTT QUOTES:

Talk about your thoughts on returning to Indianapolis Motor Speedway?

“Indianapolis is a great race track. Still one of my favorite memories is taking the lead with six laps to go, battling and almost winning last year. Unfortunately, the 54 got back by us and we finished second. It was exciting and I feel like that is a place normally owned by cup regulars who come down to race in the Nationwide Series. If anyone can beat them, I think our Shore Lodge team can. Our team is strong and we’ll keep plugging away till we get that victory.

The Nationwide Series is in the middle of an 18-week race stretch, how does your team prepare for that?

“This is the part of the season where we separate the men from the boys. The week-in-week out, diversity in the schedule – superspeedway, short track, road-course racing, it’s going to really test the strength of programs. The group of experienced guys like we have on this RCR team is seasoned. They know. They are ready and prepared. We’ve got a good fleet of cars back at the shop and we haven’t torn up a lot of stuff, so far, in the season. I think we are ready and equipped to battle through the hot summer months.”

Tailgating … The 2011 Camping World Truck Series Champion has competed in select events this season for NTS Motorsports but this weekend marks his first start for RCR in the Truck Series since winning at Eldora Speedway one year ago. Dillon is also scheduled to drive a No. 3 Yuengling Light Lager Chevrolet under the RCR banner at Pocono Raceway in the Pocono Mountains 125 on August 2.

Think Green … The No. 2 Chevrolet team will sport the black and green colors of American Ethanol this Wednesday at Eldora Speedway. American Ethanol, a renewable source of cleaner burning energy from the bounty of America’s farmers, helps create new green jobs and a renewed sense of pride for the American worker, while helping to achieve greater energy security for our country. Launched by Growth Energy and the National Corn Growers Association, along with the support of other partners, American Ethanol is a breakthrough brand that seeks to expand consumer awareness of the benefits of ethanol and E15, and takes the NASCAR Green initiative to the next level. Since the program launch for the 2011 season, NASCAR® drivers have run more than 6 million miles on renewable Sunoco Green E15.

A Family Tradition … For the fifth time in their Camping World Truck Series careers, the Dillon brothers will compete against each other at Eldora Speedway. The last time they were both in the same Truck Series event was at Eldora Speedway last year, when Austin earned the win and his brother Ty finished 16th. Other memorable moments in their Truck Series careers include Homestead-Miami Speedway in 2011 when Austin earned a 10th-place finish and clinched the 2011 championship while little brother Ty posted a sixth-place result.

AUSTIN DILLON QUOTES:

Talk about Racing at Eldora Speedway and what it means to you.

“I can’t wait, Eldora Speedway is a special place. Wining the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race there last year was probably one of the most memorable wins of my career, so far. The track means so much to me because of my dirt racing background. It was a lot of fun and the track did some really cool things, such as letting each member of the team scoop up a piece of dirt from the track and keep it. They gave me a gold shovel, which was a really cool thing as well. I also got to take my picture with Richard Petty since he was the last driver before me to win on dirt. It’s just cool, it means a lot.”

Ty Dillon

No. 3 Bass Pro Shops/TRACKER Boats Chevrolet Silverado
Event Preview Fact Sheet

This Week’s Bass Pro Shops/TRACKER Boats Chevrolet at Eldora Speedway … Ty Dillon will pilot chassis No. 047 in the 1-800-Carcash Mudsummer Classic at Eldora Speedway, the same Silverado he drove last July in the inaugural NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at “The Big E.” This chassis was also raced by Tim George Jr. at Rockingham Speedway in April 2012.

Dillon in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at Eldora Speedway … Dillon made a start at Eldora Speedway last July in the inaugural Mudsummer Classic in the No. 3 Bass Pro Shops Silverado. The Welcome, N.C.-native qualified 15th and finished 16th at the Tony Stewart-owned dirt track. Dillon, an experienced dirt car racer, has also raced late models at Eldora Speedway for his family-owned and operated race team, Team Dillon Racing. He competed in the annual Prelude to the Dream in 2012 and attempted to qualify for the World 100 in September 2011.

Brothers will be brothers … They may be brothers and best friends, but on the race track they are competitors. Austin and Ty Dillon will compete against each other for the second-consecutive year at Eldora Speedway; last season older brother Austin took home the victory while Ty finished 16th. Since 2012, the Dillon Brothers have race against each other 15 times in NASCAR’s top three series. Most recently, the two raced together last November at Homestead-Miami Speedway when Austin won the NASCAR Nationwide Series Championship.

Bass Pro Shops & RCR in 2014 … America’s No. 1 Outdoor Retailer has been a long-time partner of RCR, dating back to the racing days of the late Dale Earnhardt. This season, Bass Pro Shops is a primary sponsor on Dillon’s No. 3 Chevrolet Camaro in the Nationwide Series. Bass Pro has partnered with both Austin and Ty Dillon as the two have made their way up the NASCAR ranks.

Quick turn-around… Dillon will make the two-hour drive west to Indianapolis Motor Speedway Thursday morning to meet his Nationwide Series team for this Saturday’s Lily Diabetes 250. The 22-year-old Nationwide Series Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender is currently fourth in the driver point standings.

TY DILLON QUOTE:

Are you excited to return to Eldora Speedway?

“Last season, this race was probably one of the coolest races I’ve ever participated in. With my dirt racing background, I couldn’t be more excited to be competing in this event. It’s a great show for the fans and a little change of pace from asphalt racing. I’m looking forward to going out there and having some fun. This is the kind of racing I grew up with. Hopefully, I can bring a victory home like my brother did last year.”
