ADVANCE NOTES

·         Charlotte Recap

o    A second week of late race strategy calls by crew chief Jimmy Fennig puts Edwards and the No. 99 Fastenal team in their best position of the 334-lap race.  On lap 327 the eighth caution flag flew and Fennig advised Edwards to stay out and he moved from 16th up to ninth on the 1.5-mile oval.  Edwards battled through the restart and green-white-checkered finish for a very important eighth place finish and his 13th top-10 of the season at Charlotte Motor Speedway and is now fifth in the Sprint Cup Chase Points.

·         Edwards at Talladega

o    Could clinch a spot in the Eliminator Round by finishing 18th or better, 19th and at least one lap led or 20th and most laps led – Regardless of finishes by other drivers.

o    Edwards is still looking for his first Sprint Cup Series win at Talladega.

o    He was leading the Spring race on the last lap in 2009, but was involved in a horrific wreck with Brad Keselowski– He did walk across the start/finish line.

o    Edwards has 20 Sprint Cup starts at the 2.66-mile track with an average start of 13.4 and an average finish of 21.0

·         The Car

o    Primary chassis RK-913 was last run in 2014 at Daytona, starting in the 11th spot and finishing 37thafter being involved in an early wreck.

o    Backup chassis RK-925. Hasn’t been used in 2014.

Edwards on Talladega:

“We’re headed to Talladega this weekend. Our team has done a great job of good finishes the first two races of this round. We’ve got to finish 19th or better to advance to the next round. We’ve had some great superspeedway cars. We’re gonna have the Subway car this weekend which is always a lot of fun. The Subway folks make the whole weekend a blast and we always eat fresh. As far as the race goes, who knows what’s gonna happen. I mean, I don’t know that it can get any crazier than Charlotte, but it probably will. Talladega, on its own, without all the points implications and the tempers that are bound to be there based on everything that happened at Charlotte, is crazy. Without those things, Talladega is wild. So once you add all of the pressure of people needing to win, grudges, unfinished business from last week, I think it sells itself. I think it’s gonna be…. I don’t know what it’s gonna be.
