Lira Motorsports Drivers Lira, Flores and Rivers Ready To Take on Daytona

(Port Orange, FL) Drivers Ricardo Flores, Timmy Rivers and Michael Lira (pictured left to right at the Roar Before the Rolex 24)  will kick off their 2015 IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge season’s this week with the BMW Performance 200 on Friday at Daytona International Speedway.
The Lira Motorsports trio of drivers will be competing in Racers Edge Motorsports Ford Mustang Boss 302R’s. Lira and Rivers will share driving duties in the No. 57 entry, while Flores is paired with Racers Edge driver Nick Galante in the No. 10 entry.
Both cars will take to the track for official practice on Wednesday at 1:30 and again at 3:45. Thursday will see a third round of practice at 11:45 before a 15-minute qualifying session, set to begin at2:40. On Friday there is a 20 minute practice session in the morning before the green flag drops at 1:45. The scheduled length of the race is 2.5 hours.
All three drivers had a successful and productive test behind the wheel less than two weeks ago in the Roar Before the Rolex 24. After the test, Jon Mirachi, team owner of Racers Edge Motorsports, commented “All of our cars ran well, and the drivers are very comfortable with both the track and the team. This Roar was important because we were able to get our setups all dialed in and the brakes tuned up and ready… we’ll be ready to hit the ground running for the opening practice session.”
For Lira and Rivers, this event will mark their first career race in IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar competition. Flores drove in four series events last year, collecting one top ten finish at the Circuit of The Americas.
With support from Ford Racing, Roush Yates and Roush Performance, and primary sponsorship from Gary Yeomans Ford Lincoln, the team plans for Flores to compete for the full season in pursuit of the championship while Lira and Rivers will drive in a part-time schedule of events.
