CASSILL READY FOR OPENER

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Landon Cassill is back in the JD Motorsports with Gary Keller Flex Seal Chevrolet for another Xfinity Series season, and he’s aiming to improve on the team’s fine run last year.

Cassill finished 12th in series points last year, scoring three top 10s, including a top seasonal finish of eighth at his home track, Iowa Speedway.

“Our goal is top 10 this year,” Cassill said. “We feel like we’ve made a lot of improvements and reorganized a lot of things. Last year was kind of our first real year together. We saw what we’re capable of. It’s just a matter of building on that.”

Race One is Saturday’s Alert Today Florida 300 at Daytona International Speedway. Practice is scheduled at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Friday. Qualifying is set for 12:15 p.m. Saturday, with the 300-mile race scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Cassill is also scheduled to run the full Sprint Cup schedule this year for Hillman Smith Motorsports.

“The extra seat time helps me out a lot,” Cassill said. “It’s really good on a race weekend to get more laps in a car, more restarts, more pit stops, everything.”
