Gilliland Antsy for Atlanta after Impressive Daytona Finish

Love’s Travel Stops Driver Eager to Test 1.5-Mile Program with Tapered Spacer

STATESVILLE, FEB. 25, 2014 – David Gilliland, driver of the No. 38 Love’s Travel Stops Ford, comments on racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway:

“Atlanta is one of my favorite racetracks. It’s fast and wore out, the pace falls off, and handling really comes into play. It’s 100-percent aero. I think speeds are going to be very, very fast. It’s going to be the first time I’ll drive the car with the tapered spacer and have less horsepower than we’ve had, so I’m anxious to get out there and try that and see how our mile-and-a-half program has progressed over the winter.

“I’m really proud of the run we had in Daytona. Donnie Wingo, my new crew chief, made some good changes to the car over the course of the race and gave us a good shot to make a charge in the end. A top-10 finish would’ve been great, but 11th was still a really good effort for our Love’s Travel Stops team.”

JUST THE FACTS: Gilliland has 13 Sprint Cup career starts at Atlanta Motor Speedway … He has one top-15 finish at the 1.5-mile oval … His top finish at Atlanta is 15th (2006) … Love’s Travel Stops returns as primary sponsor on the No. 38 Ford.
