Wallace Finishes 11th at Atlanta Motor Speedway

HAMPTON, Ga. (Feb. 28, 2015) – Roush Fenway Racing’s Bubba Wallace earned his second consecutive top-15 finish Saturday afternoon at Atlanta Motor Speedway after piloting his No. 60 Ford EcoBoost Mustang to 11th-place in the Hisense 250 NASCAR XFINITY Series race.

“It was a good day all in all, no scratches,” said Wallace.  “It’s one spot better than Daytona.  It was a decent points day, but I’m thinking if we would have got that lucky dog we would have got a couple more spots, but it is what it is.  We’ll go to Vegas next and bring another Ford Mustang ready to win.”

Wallace lined up 23rd after Saturday morning’s qualifying session at a chilly Atlanta Motor Speedway.  The rookie of the year contender did not wait long to begin his march to the front.  By Lap 17, Wallace cracked into the top-15.

The No. 6 Mustang was too tight for Wallace’s liking on the opening run of the race.  Crew chief Chad Norris radioed his driver down pit road on Lap 50 for four tires, fuel and an air pressure adjustment to help with the tight handling condition

When Wallace returned to the track he immediately informed the crew that the car was much better.  As the run continued on, the No. 6 began to lose a little grip, and kept getting tighter as the run progressed.

On Lap 88, Wallace came back down pit road for four tires and fuel along with air pressure and wedge adjustments.

Wallace continued to battle a tight Mustang through the remainder of the race, as the track continued to get tighter and tighter.

When the checkered flag flew, Wallace crossed the finish line in 11th-place.  With his second consecutive top-15 finish, he moves into fourth place in the NASCAR XFINITY Series point standings.
