Roush Fenway Racing’s 7-Man Wolfpack heads to Las Vegas

Coming off of a cold weekend in Atlanta, Roush Fenway Racing looks to go on a heater this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway (LVMS) and ensure that what happens there propels them throughout the rest of the season.  Roush Fenway boasts 16 NASCAR wins at LVMS, where it has led over 2,500 laps, while covering over 45,000 miles in NASCAR action.

Roush Cashes in with Early JACKpot

Roush Fenway hit the Vegas jackpot right off the bat, winning the inaugural NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS)event at Las Vegas in 1998. Mark Martin led 82 laps in the victory in a one-two finish for Roush Fenway that afternoon.

Inaugural Sweep

Roush Fenway placed all five of its Cup entries inside the top 10 of that inaugural Las Vegas Cup race in 1998, including three inside the top five, four inside the top six, one in Victory Lane and the runner up with drivers Mark Martin, Jeff Burton, Johnny Benson, Ted Musgrave and Chad Little (6 – 1st, 99 – 2nd, 26 – 4th, 16 – 6th and 97 – 10th).

The Cat in the Hat-Trick

Roush Fenway went to Victory Lane in each of the first three Cup races at LVMS, with race winners Martin (1998) and Burton (1999, 2000) leading a combined 249 laps out of 801 (31.1 percent).

Victory Lane at Vegas

In addition to the first three NSCS races at LVMS, Roush Fenway again found the winners’ circle in 2003 and 2004 at the 1.5-mile track with Matt Kenseth. Carl Edwards took the checkered flag in the 2008 and 2011 events to give Roush Fenway seven Cup wins at Las Vegas with four different drivers.

Dueces Wild

Roush Fenway has won two consecutive NSCS races at LVMS on two separate occasions in ’99-’00 and ’03-04’ and once in the XFINITY Series in ‘99 and ‘00.

Tale of the Tape

In 74 career Cup starts at LVMS Roush Fenway has recorded 38 top-10 finishes (51.4 percent) and has had at least one car finish in the top 10 in every Cup event run at the 1.5-mile oval. Roush Fenway has earned two pole positions, seven victories, 21 top-five finishes and has led 1,257 laps.

XFINITY Success

RFR has won six times in the XFINITY Series at LVMS, most recently with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. In a total of 45 starts at the 1.5-mile oval, Roush Fenway XFINITY cars have earned 19 top-fives (42.2 percent) and 34 top-10s (75.6 percent). Both Trevor Bayne and Chris Buescher recorded top-10 finishes in the 2014 event at LVMS.

2015 Roush Fenway Lineup

Roush Fenway Racing will field seven NASCAR teams in 2015. Greg Biffle, Ricky Stenouse Jr. and Trevor Bayne will make up the team’s NASCAR Sprint Cup lineup, while Chris Buescher, Ryan Reed, Elliott Sadler and Bubba Wallace make up the team’s NASCAR XFINITY roster.
