Whitt: No. 35 Can Get ‘Down and Dirty’ on Las Vegas Track

Smoother Surface Means Better Ride for Speed Stick Ford

STATESVILLE, MARCH 4, 2015 – Cole Whitt, driver of the No. 35 Speed Stick Ford, comments on racing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway:

“I’ve only been to Vegas once, last year, and we were actually really good in the primary. But we had to go to a back-up after a crash in practice. But I learned a lot. I learned where the limit is there, and now I know how far I can push a car right up to that limit.

“We should be able to relate some things from Atlanta to Las Vegas. A lot of our mile-and-a-half set-ups are similar and we try to critique them and fine-tune them for each track. Obviously, depending on the roughness of the track, you might have to provide a little more give in the suspension, especially with the new rules. Vegas is actually a little bit smoother than Atlanta. You can probably get it down and dirty a little more and ride more like IndyCar. But I do think that what we take out of Atlanta we can put to use in Vegas on our Speed Stick Ford.”

JUST THE FACTS: Whitt has one Sprint Cup career start at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. He finished 36th last March in his debut on the 1.5-mile oval. Speed Stick returns as sponsor of the No. 35 for Race No. 3 of the Sprint Cup season.
