Roush Fenway Racing Making an Early Statement in the NASCAR XFINITY Series

CONCORD, N.C. (March 11, 2015) – Three races into the 2015 NASCAR XFINITY Series season, Roush Fenway Racing is making a strong statement, placing all four drivers inside the top-10 in the championship standings, while occupying three of the top-four spots.

Roush Fenway’s XFINITY lineup boasts a roster full of young talent, with Bubba Wallace competing for Sunoco Rookie of the Year Honors and second-year drivers Ryan Reed and Chris Buescher.  In addition the organization bolstered its strong lineup through the addition of Veteran NASCAR driver Elliott Sadler.

Daytona started the season off in high gear, as sophomore driver Reed earned his first career NASCAR XFINITY Series win, while teammate Buescher pushed him to the finish line in dramatic fashion.

“To get my first win and Lilly Diabetes its first win was huge,” said Reed.  “Not only that, but to get the season started off on the right foot, with momentum on our side was a big deal.  Our team is confident and capable, and I think we are proving that right out of the gate.”

Wallace led his first laps with Roush Fenway in Daytona, jumping to the lead by Lap 13.  The rookie of the year contender led 18 laps on the day, the most of any NASCAR XFINITY Series regular.

Two of the four Roush Fenway drivers have already led the NASCAR XFINITY Series point standings in 2015.  Reed exited Daytona first in the series championship standings, with Buescher behind in second as the series traveled to Atlanta.

Buescher found the front of the pack at Atlanta Motor Speedway, running in the top-five for the majority of the 163-Lap race.  With a strong showing in his Fastenal Ford Mustang, Buescher advanced his best finishing position at the 1.5-mile track by nine positions, finishing fourth, and taking over the points lead.

“To finish second right off the bat and then travel to Atlanta and race in the top-five all day and finish fourth was a great way for this team to start off the season,” said Buescher.  “I’m looking forward to racing up front for some wins this season.  I think we’ve made good progress as an organization and there’s no reason the championship isn’t within our reach.”

After success in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Wallace followed that up with a strong showing in his first NASCAR XFINITY Series race at the track.  Wallace qualified 12th and led Roush Fenway, with an impressive seventh-place finish.

As the NASCAR XFINITY Series continues its west coast swing, Roush Fenway enters the fourth race of the year ranking second (Buescher), third (Reed), fourth (Wallace) and ninth (Sadler) in the series standings.

The NASCAR XFINITY Series heads to Phoenix International Raceway this weekend for 200 miles of racing in the desert on Saturday afternoon.  The race will air live on FOX at 4:00 p.m. ET.
