ADVANCE NOTES
Sadler at Auto Club Speedway
Elliott Sadler will make his 11th NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) start at Auto Club Speedway (ACS) this Saturday afternoon in Fontana, CA. In Sadler’s previous 10 starts, he has one pole award, three top-five and six top-10 finishes at ACS. Sadler has also led 60 laps at ACS in the NXS.
The veteran driver also has 19 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts at ACS with one win in 2004, one top-five and two top-10 finishes.
In the past four years at ACS, Sadler has finished in the top-10 in each of his four NXS races.
Last Week’s Race
Elliott Sadler finished in 12th-place during Saturday’s NXS race at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR). Sadler started the morning off well when he qualified 10th for the scheduled 200 lap event. Not long after the start of the race, Sadler radioed to the crew that the engine did not feel right. At the first opportunity, Sadler brought the No. 1 OneMain Financial Ford Mustang down pit road. The crew opened the hood and noticed a plug wire popped off. Following the fix, Sadler was able to regain his momentum and started working his way forward. Sadler spent the remainder of the race methodically passing one car at a time. Sadler was the highest finishing Roush Fenway Racing Ford Mustang at PIR.
2015 NASCAR XFINITY Series Driver Point Standings
Following last week’s race, Sadler moved forward one position from ninth to eighth in the NXS Driver Point Standings. After four races, Sadler is 43 points behind the leader.
This Race Last Year
Sadler won the Coors Light pole award last year at ACS. Sadler ran the majority of the race in the front pack, bouncing back and forth in the top-five spots. Sadler ended his day crossing the finish line in the fifth position.
Race Coverage
TV coverage for this week’s NXS race will be on FOX Sports 1 at 4:00PM ET.
QUOTE WORTHY
One of the Best Sports Weekends of the Year:
“It would be great to win a Coors Light Pole Award in back-to-back years at Auto Club Speedway. That would be a big confidence builder for the No. 1 OneMain Financial Ford Mustang team, as well as the Roush Fenway Racing organization. I finished fifth here last year, and it would be huge for our team to get our first top-five finish of the season.”
“As most of you know, I’m a huge sports fan. I played six sports in high school and I was recruited and played basketball for James Madison University. If I’m not in the race car, you can find me in the hauler or on my phone checking the March Madness scores. This weekend is one of the best weekends of the year for a sports fan.”
