WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR MARTINSVILLE SPEEDWAY

Jamie McMurray and No. 1 Cessna Team

Fontana Recap: Auto Club Speedway (ACS), in Southern California, was the final stop on the three-race West Coast swing for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS). Jamie McMurray and the No. 1 team worked to fine-tune the balance of the McDonald’s Chevy throughout the 209-lap race to bring home a 21st-place finish.

McMurray at Martinsville: McMurray will make his 25th career NSCS Start this weekend at Martinsville Speedway (Martinsville). In his 24 previous starts McMurray has two poles (Apr. 2011 & Oct. 2014), 12 top-10 and one top-five finishes, with an average start of 14 and an average finish of 17.2.  McMurray’s best finish of second came in Oct. 2004.

Just the Boys: Last October McMurray had the opportunity of being able to spend his first father/son only weekend at the race track with his then, 3-year-old son Carter. McMurray credits the experience as one of his favorite race weekends in his 14 year NSCS career. Having the one-on-one time and winning the pole with his son present made for a memorable weekend. He plans to re-live the experience again this weekend as Carter will join him for the race events at Martinsville.

Kyle Larson and No. 42 Target Team

Fontana Results: The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) was at Auto Club Speedway (ACS) this weekend for the one and only stop of the season to the Southern California track. While last year’s stop at ACS brought jubilation with Kyle Larson’s first runner-up finish in the NSCS, this year the team’s run ended in disappointment as an incident late in the race slowed Larson’s charge and resulted in a 26th place finish.

Larson at Martinsville: Larson has three previous starts at the Paperclip, which is where he made his second career NSCS start back in 2013. In his starts there, Larson has completed 76.3% of the race laps, has an average start of 23.3 and an average finish of 33. Larson also visited Martinsville last season for a testing session.

A Shopping Bullseye: If you have made it to the race only to find out you’ve forgotten to pack a few necessities, there’s no need to worry.  For all your last minute needs, and forgotten items, Target has all of the essentials and more.  Target is located at 155 Holt Garrison Parkway, in Danville, Va. 24540 and can be reached at 434-799-9950. Call ahead and make sure they have what you need.
