Clint Bowyer No. 15 AAA Insurance Toyota RIchmond Preview

RICHMOND LOVE

CORNELIUS, N.C. —  The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series travels to its second consecutive short track this weekend, Richmond International Raceway and the Toyota Owners 400. The .75-mile, D-shaped oval is one of Clint Bowyer’s best and logically, one of his favorite tracks.

It’s easy to see why. The Michael Waltrip Racing driver has two wins, four top-five and 10 top-10 finishes in 18 starts at the Virginia track. At the circuit’s last race in September, he nearly pulled off the win, wheeling his Toyota Camry to a third-place finish while contending for the win.

The Kansas native is looking for a similar performance this weekend with his No. 15 AAA Insurance Toyota Camry. After a performance last weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway, where Bowyer ran up front all night, he may leave Richmond  loving the short track even more than he already does.

Are you looking forward to Richmond?

“Richmond is a fun racetrack and obviously a good one for me. We tested there a couple of weeks ago and had a pretty good test. I’m looking forward to getting there and seeing what we’ve got for the ole girl. She can be a tough one but we have some good momentum after Bristol. I was real proud of the guys. It was a tough weekend but we found something Saturday and that translated into a good car on Sunday. We just got caught up in someone else’s mess, which is usually the case at short tracks, but we had a top-five car for sure and we held on for a decent finish. Ready to battle with the leaders again this weekend.”

CHASSIS

Chassis No. 805 serves as Bowyer’s primary chassis for Richmond. The chassis was  tested at Charlotte Motor Speedway and Richmond International Raceway this year. Chassis No. 809 serves as back up at Richmond. It also served as back up at Phoenix in March.
