ADVANCE NOTES

Reed at Iowa Speedway

Reed has two starts in the NASCAR XFINITY Series at Iowa Speedway, both during his 2014 rookie season. At this race one year ago, Reed finished 16th after having to start in the back of the field because the team made a radiator change after qualifying. In the summer 2014 event at the .875-mile oval, Reed finished 15th after starting from the 11th position.

Reed also has one start in the ARCA Racing Series at Iowa, which came in July 2012. Reed finished in the ninth position after starting third.

Riding with Ryan

American Diabetes Association Youth Ambassador Melissa Pardock will ride along with Roush Fenway Racing driver Ryan Reed during Sunday’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Iowa Speedway. Pardock’s name will be displayed above the passenger-side window to recognize her efforts to inspire other kids living with type 1 diabetes. Pardock, of Des Moines, is an 11-year old middle school student who has been living with type 1 diabetes for over a year now. She is an instrumental fundraiser for the American Diabetes Association’s Step Out®: Walk to Stop Diabetes® and is organizing a walk at her school to raise awareness of diabetes. Pardock shares the message that other kids with diabetes can lead a normal life by staying active. She enjoys swimming on her local swim team, playing clarinet and singing in her church choir.

Talladega Recap

Reed finished 32nd at Talladega Superspeedway on May 2 after getting caught up in a mid-race incident while running in the top10.

2015 Season

Reed is currently eighth in the NASCAR XFINITY Series championship standings after one win and five top-15 finishes. He is the only XFINITY Series regular to win a race so far this season.

Reed on Iowa

“After a week off, I think Iowa will be a good place for us to rebound and have a fresh start. I really enjoy short track racing and have a little more experience at Iowa than some other tracks because of my ARCA start there. We know we can run up front and contend for the win, we just need all of the pieces to come together.”

Tune-in

Reed and the rest of the NASCAR XFINITY Series will take the green flag from Iowa Speedway on Sunday, May 17 at 1 p.m. CDT on FOX Sports 1.
