TEAM QUOTES:

Dover like no other:  “It’s a fun place and it’s real aggressive,” Allmendinger said. “You can just attack the corners and to me it has always suited my driving style. I enjoy it. I just need to kind of get back where I used to be a few years ago. I felt like I had a shot to win every time I showed up at that place. We will get there. You know this No. 47 SCOTT Products Chevrolet SS team keeps getting stronger.”

One up: “We’re fortunate because we were able to participate in a Goodyear tire test recently at Dover,” Allmendinger said. “I think at least it helped give us an idea of the direction we need to go. We still have work to do for sure to find the speed we want. The test is really going to help us and make us better.”

So demanding: “Dover is definitely a physically demanding track and with this package now – at least at the test – you just were not out of the throttle a lot,” Allmendinger said. “You kind of roll in and as soon as the car would turn you would try to get back in the throttle. You have 400 laps around there and you are spent by the end of the day. You know if you run well there and if you finish in the top-10 or top-five, you have really accomplished something.”

Likability: “I used to really like Dover International Speedway,” Allmendinger said. “I used to be really good at it. The last couple of years we’ve struggled a little bit. We’re hoping to change that this weekend.”

Sporting the SCOTT Products brand again: “It’s great to have SCOTT Products on board as primary for this race,” Allmendinger said. “We had some bad luck last weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway with bouncing off the wall and having debris on our front grill that lost us laps pitting under green. We’re hoping to have a great run at Dover to showcase all our wonderful partners – SCOTT Products, House-Autry, Kroger, Clorox, Kingsford, BUSH’S Beans, Shore Lunch, Better Than Bouillon, Hungry Jack, Charter Spectrum, Freightliner. I just love all of our sponsors and appreciate their continued support.”

Test beneficial:  “We feel like we definitely benefited from testing at Dover,” crew chief Brian Burns said. “By the end of the third day, the car was comfortable and easy to drive for AJ. With the addition of two alliance cars testing there the third day, it made our notebook even better. We are also bringing a better car than we tested. We will be stronger when we unload. The last Dover race, we had a mechanical failure on the car. So, we are looking to redeem ourselves.”

Chassis 499: “We’re bringing the same car AJ raced at Phoenix International Raceway and Kansas Speedway,” Burns said. “So, it’s fairly new and only its third race. We debuted it at Phoenix and lost a motor in practice. AJ drove from the back of the field and overcame bad track position to finish 17th. We also had our jackman Mike Klein go out with an injury mid-race and he’s our pit coach as well. I feel pretty good about this car. We’re hoping for a solid weekend.”

Moving ahead: “At a place like Charlotte Motor Speedway, you really don’t know how good your car is until you get track position,” Burns said. “AJ drove up to 18th in a short amount of time, but that one run we got into the wall and caused a good bit of damage. The first time, I felt like we could have come back if cautions would have fell our way. Then with having a wrapper on the grill, it got the motor hot and caused us to lose laps pitting under green. We lost any chance to get back on the lead lap. We have put Charlotte behind us. We just need some good luck at Dover.”
