Honda Indy Toronto Post-event Infractions, Manufacturer Championship Points Update

NDIANAPOLIS (June 17, 2015) – INDYCAR announced the following post-event infractions and manufacturer championship points updates from the Honda Indy Toronto, which was held June 14 on the streets of Toronto’s Exhibition Place:

• The No. 20 CFH Racing entry was fined $5,000 for violating Rule 14.9.2 (Fuel Capacity).

• Chevrolet received a bonus of 10 manufacturer points for having an engine attain its life cycle. According to Rule 10.6.4.2 of the Verizon IndyCar Series rulebook, 10 points will be awarded to a manufacturer for an engine that successfully reaches its 2,500-mile life cycle. The engine for the No. 22 Team Penske entry achieved that plateau during the Honda Indy Toronto.

• Honda received a deduction of 40 manufacturer points for engines that did not attain their life cycle. According to Rule 10.6.4.3, 20 manufacturer points will be deducted for an engine that fails to reach its 2,500-mile life cycle. The Honda engines in the Nos. 26 and 27 Andretti Autosport entries did not reach their life cycle minimum before being changed out.

Following the adjustments, Chevrolet has 1,003 manufacturer championship points for the season and Honda has 840.

Members may contest the imposition of penalties pursuant to the procedures and timelines detailed in the review and appeal procedures of the Verizon IndyCar Series rulebook.
