Bayne Comes Home 22nd in Michigan

BROOKLYN, Mich. (Aug. 16, 2015) – Trevor Bayne, driver of the No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Fusion, recorded a 22nd-place finish on Sunday afternoon in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) race at Michigan International Speedway after improving seven positions in the final 30 laps of the event.

“We made our car better throughout the race,” said Bayne after the race. “It was a hard fought battle and I’m thankful for all of the work that the guys on this AdvoCare team put in to our car this weekend. We’ll move on from this and get ready to go to my home track of Bristol.”

Bayne began the 200-Lap event from the 25th position and maintained his track position up through the competition caution on Lap 20. During that caution period, crew chief Bob Osborne called the driver of the AdvoCare Ford to pit road to work on a loose handling condition.

Returning to the track in 24th, Bayne worked his way up to the 21st position during the first long green flag run of the afternoon. Despite moving forward, Bayne would fall down one lap to the race leaders during the first round of green flag pit stops.

Although off the lead lap, Bayne continued to work forward, moving into 20th following a Lap 76 restart. Bayne maintained his track position until a tight handling condition in the center of the corner shuffled the Roush Fenway Racing driver back to 25th before the second round of green flag pit stops.

Following the stop, Bayne returned to the track in 25th and continued to battle with Roush Fenway teammates Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Greg Biffle for position as the tight handling condition persisted.

In the closing stages, the Knoxville, Tenn. native was able to improve seven positions and utilize a restart with 13 laps remaining to take the checkered flag in the 22nd position.

Next up for the NSCS is some Saturday night short track racing at Bristol Motor Speedway on Saturday, Aug. 22.
