Wallace Finishes 11th in Kansas

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Oct. 17, 2015) – Bubba Wallace, driver of the No. 6 Ford EcoBoost Ford Mustang, earned an 11th-place finish on Saturday afternoon in the NASCAR XFINITY Series event at Kansas Speedway.

“We fought hard today,” said Wallace after the race. “We were able to overcome that tire issue to get a decent finish going into the off-weekends. We’ll take this and get ready to end our season on a strong note those final three weeks. I just want to thank all my guys for their hard work, we’ll keep digging.”

Wallace began the 200-Lap event from the 14th position despite having to run a back-up car due to an incident in first practice on Friday afternoon. From the drop of the green flag Wallace marched forward, moving into the seventh position by Lap 6. The driver of the No. 6 Ford EcoBoost Ford Mustang maintained his top-10 track position until an issue with the right-front tire on Lap 44 forced Wallace to make an unscheduled pit stop.

An untimely caution one lap after the pit stop trapped the Roush Fenway Racing driver one lap down to the race leaders. Undeterred by the unscheduled stop, Wallace charged forward on the Lap 51 restart, going from 26th to 15th and into the free pass position just before the caution came out once again on Lap 59.

Now back on the lead lap, Wallace again began to move forward, racing his way back into the top 10 on Lap 85 and drove up to as high as the sixth position during the second-half of the race.

In the closing stages, Wallace was shuffled three-wide on a green-white-checkered restart and ultimately recorded an 11th-place finish.

With the result, Wallace advances to fifth in the NASCAR XFINITY championship standing.

Next up for the NASCAR XFINITY Series is Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday, Nov. 7.
