WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY

Jamie McMurray and No. 1 Cessna/NetJets Team

Martinsville Recap: The final short-track race for the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) season at Martinsville Speedway may have been the strongest run of the year for the No. 1 McDonald’s team. Jamie McMurray rolled off from the fourth starting position, and established himself as a contender for the win throughout the race, battling veteran Jeff Gordon into the closing laps for the victory, before crossing the finish line with his second runner-up finish of the season.

McMurray at Texas: Jamie McMurray will make his 24th NSCS career start at Texas Motor Speedway (TMS) this weekend. He has completed 7,481 of 7,706 laps (97.1%) of competition at TMS and has led 79 laps. McMurray has a best start of fourth (2008) and a best finish of second (2005), along with eight top-10 and four top-five finishes and only one DNF (Did Not Finish).

Go In Style: NetJets and Cessna will share billing on the hood of the No. 1 Chevrolet SS this weekend at TMS. NetJets offers fractional ownership and rental of private business jets and is the worldwide leader in private aviation, with the largest and most diverse private jet fleet, that includes more than 700 aircraft worldwide.

Kyle Larson and No. 42 Target Plaid Team

Martinsville Results: The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) made the second stop of the season at historic Martinsville Speedway for the first race in the penultimate round of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. After rain threatened to delay the start of the race, cars took to the track on schedule, with Kyle Larson starting in ninth-place. While Larson raced in the top-10 at times during the day, handling issues late in his runs ultimately worked to shuffle the Target Chevy back to the high teens for a 19th-place finish at the tough short-track.

Larson at Texas: Larson’s third career NSCS start came at TMS in 2013, and this weekend he’ll be making his fifth NSCS start at the mile-and-a-half oval. In three previous starts in the No. 42 Target Chevy, Larson has completed all race laps at TMS, with an average start of 19.0 and average finish of 15.0. His efforts at TMS have earned him two top-10 finishes and one top-five finish. In the earlier spring race at TMS, Larson scored his first top-10 start at the track. Behind the good start and strong car, Larson ran towards the front most of the race before an untimely penalty on pit road at the end of the race disrupted what was likely to be a top-10 finish.

A Different View: Before heading to Texas for the NSCS race, Larson was in Las Vegas to cheer on CGR Global Rallycross (GRC) driver and ENEOS teammate Steve Arpin. The GRC series raced in their final event of the season. Larson and Arpin also took time to sign autographs for fans at ENEOS display at the SEMA Show. For Larson, watching the race from the stands was a somewhat rare departure from his usual seat behind the wheel.

A Shopping Bullseye: If you have made it to the race only to find out you’ve forgotten to pack a few necessities, there’s no need to worry. For all your last minute needs, and forgotten items, Target has all of the essentials and more. Target is located at 8000 Denton Highway, Watauga, TX 76148 and can be reached at (817)-427-8039.
